Delight in Chef Thierry Moity's traditional French cuisine. Chef Moity, who has been cooking since age 13 in some of the finest French restaurants in Europe and New York City. The French cuisine is influenced by a combination of traditions-Patricia comes from the northern part of France near the Belgium border, while Thierry's origins are deeply rooted in the central provinces of the country.
According to Chef Moity, the food is served fast paced and in generous portions." I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant". We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating and expensive.
One of my favorite restaurants in Wilmington. Food and service always outstanding.
First time experience and it was superb. Will definitely come again.
We are relatively new to the area; that said we have eaten at caprice bistro many times in the past few months and have been impressed and always look forward to our next visit. This past friday was not up to the quality I enjoyed previously. I ordered the arugula salad and found it to be lackluster. I always order the waterzooi and usually love it. While still quite good it was somehow not up to standard. We will certainly be back and we are appreciative of the personal service rendered in accommodating our upstairs seating request. Overall, a charming restaurant with interesting good quality food and drink. We are impressed with the value for a lovely high end dining experience.
Always excellent. This is our go to place for special occasions.
The food is always delicious and the ambiance is unequaled.
Haven’t been there in a while. The service and food were perfect. The curried muscles were outstanding.
Our first time and what a perfect evening! Everyone made sure we had a perfect date night and the food and drinks were perfect!
My wife and I always make it a point to go to Caprice when we visit Wilmington. First of all, the had one of my favorite classic cocktails on the menu... the Vieux Carre, which many establishments have never even heard of. I moved onto order the Moules Normande... a delicious dish of succulent mussels with a lightly creamy mushroom wine broth. I've never previously had this mussels preparation, and was extremely impressed. For my main, I had their house specialty the Waterzooi... mixed seafood in a creamy, herbal sauce. I understand, from my father-in-law that the Caprice owners originally had their restaurant in Charlotte many years ago, and he used to get their Waterzooi there... it is was definitely worthy of being a signature dish. I highly recommend Caprice Bistro to anyone visiting or living in Wilmington.
Everything was beautifully cooked except for the usually perfect French fries. This is a surprise given the talent and professionalism of the kitchen.
The owner showed us to a table by the window. When I called to make the reservation, I told them it was a dinner for our 50th wedding anniversary. They were so wonderful and they made sure that everything was perfect. The food was extraordinary as it always is. This is the 5th or 6th time we have been there. Their chef is amazing and innovative. The very best restaurant in Wilmington.
One of my favorite restaurants of all time! Its European charm and mouth watering menu...plus outstanding service...were extraordinary. I rarely write reviews.
Excellent food and service! The atmosphere was just what we expected.
Great food and service . Owner so sweet. We celebrated our 25th anniversary there and it was awesome . If in the area would definitely go back .
My go to restaurant when friends come to Wilmington!
Great food! Service was excellent! Our waiter Kipton was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Excellent food and lovely place--the upstairs. Downstairs often feels crowded and noisy so we avoid it whenever we can. Mussels are the best anywhere--but the frites should come at the same time, not ten minutes before. We've eaten at Caprice a lot and will keep coming back. It's our go-to place for out of town guests and special occasions.
Always a treat to dine at Caprice. Celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary. Food, service, atmosphere ; all perfect! Enjoyed the complimentary flute of champagne.
5 star in every way!
The carrot-ginger soup was too thick for me. Had to send back. Consistency was not what I expected, having had the same soup type at another restaurant.
It was very good
I would go back
Simply incredible, from start to finish. It took an extra few minutes to get our drinks upstairs (as it was quite busy), but the cocktails were good. Downstairs, our entire dining experience was flawless. Appetizer, salad, and both entrees were just perfect. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
First time we dined here. Food and service were excellent. Can’t wait to go back!
Another great experience at Caprice Bistro. We’ll be back!
Great atmosphere. The flounder special was exceptional. Chairs at downstairs tables fit decor but a bit uncomfortable. Request upstairs table.
Service, great! Wednesday special ran out by 8:00 pm. Did not like the way French fries were served. Something better could be served with $28 steak. Wine selection good.
I chose Caprice for my wedding anniversary and was not disappointed! My wife had mentioned how she missed the food on her trip to France with friends in the past so I thought this was a great choice. The food and wine was superb, the service excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting an excellent, intimate dining experience!
I was the out-of-town guest treating my friends who were repeat customers. My friend was especially delighted with NO noise. The food was outstanding; Danny was a fabulous waiter and I/we loved our evening there. Thank you.
Caprice is my "go to" for a nice dinner - the service is always excellent as is the food and ambiance. It has been my restaurant of choice since we moved here in 2001!
Crepes were delicious (both the veggie and mushroom). Salads a hit as well!
Caprice Bistro exceeded my expectations, I will be back for sure.
My experience dining at this restaurant was nearly ruined from the time I entered. The woman, who was pretending she knew anything about the role of Hostess, was a complete failure. I had booked a table for two a few nights ago; I told her we had a reservation.
I am a woman who uses a walker to assist me, due to rheumatoid arthritis. I have been everywhere and have NEVER experienced the look of disgust she gave me when she realized I was using my normal mode of walking. Her question actually made me ashamed of who I am: "Do you actually NEED that thing to walk?"
I was dumbfounded and embarrassed. "Yes ma'am. I do."
She said, "I wonder what we're gonna do with that thing."
"I can fold it down once we're seated, or I can hold my husband and fold it down here?" I replied, folding it up. I should have left this horrible situation instead of what proceeded next: we got to our table and a waiter took my walker away.
The waitress was kind. The dessert was decadent. The appetizers and entrees were downright awful. At the end of the night, I had the dehumanizing routine repeated, when I had to ask for MY WALKER so I could finally leave.
Thanks for messing up what was a great date night, Caprice. I guess "us people" don't deserve to be treated with respect, even if we're paying your bills.
Food came out quickly and the gazpacho was exceptional
Wonderful! The greeting at the door set the pace for an enjoyable and relaxing dinner! Our server was excellent, his recommendations were perfect and his timing impeccable for drink and meal service! The Mussels Mariniere was so delicious, the wine sauce was bread dipping good and mussels were perfect! I had the Duck Confit and it did not disappoint! The outside has the perfect crisp with the Duck inside so moist and tender! The sauteed potatoes - bring me a whole plate please - fabulous! My husband's meal was a special and he savored every bite (Chicken and Shrimp with Lobster Sauce)! Desert - so over the top! Macaron, Pistacio Creme Bruise, Profiterolle Trio - Heaven! A wonderful way to close out the meal and celebrate a birthday!!! We'll be back every chance we get! :)
I've patronized the Caprice Bistro for almost 30 years and have never been disappointed. The food is exquisite, and the service is both very professional and very warm and attentive. Saturday night was no exception. I've recommended the Caprice Bistro to friends who were looking for a place to take their family or significant other to celebrate a memorable occasion, and was heartily thanked by them for their great dining experience. I will continue to recommend the Caprice Bistro.
This is our absolute favorite restaurant when visiting downtown Wilmington and once again, we were delighted! The server was friendly and professional, responding to our needs in a timely manner. We shared a green salad—crispy and refreshing. My husband loved the Scottish salmon encrusted with pistachios. I will be dreaming for days about my Waterzooi (seafood and mushrooms in a rich cream sauce)—divine! Entrees were served piping hot and portions were generous. The Belgian chocolate cake was yummy, rich, and perfect to split. If you love French food and the atmosphere of a French bistro, this is the restaurant for you.
Delicious as usual! This is our 3rd time and it’s always a hit
An exceptional dining experience awaits you at Caprice - every time! The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and just the right amount of fun. Whether you have a menu favorite or venture a special, the culinary experience is wonderful and leaves you planning your next visit.
One of our go to restaurants. Consistently great. I had the beef bourguirgon, my husband the pistachio salmon. Both were outstanding. We love this place.
We have been frequenting Caprice since we moved here in October. We recently had friends visiting us and as they are real "foodies" we knew they would love Caprice. And they did ! Food was excellent.
The Profiteroles are out of this world.
Great food as usual.
