About Caprice Bistro
Thierry and Patricia Moity were previous owners of Patou Bistro in Charlotte, NC and Cafe de Bruxelles in New York City.
Delight in Chef Thierry Moity's traditional French cuisine. Chef Moity, who has been cooking since age 13 in some of the finest French restaurants in Europe and New York City. The French cuisine is influenced by a combination of traditions-Patricia comes from the northern part of France near the Belgium border, while Thierry's origins are deeply rooted in the central provinces of the country.
According to Chef Moity, the food is served fast paced and in generous portions." I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant". We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating and expensive.

Caprice Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We live in the Chicago area and visit friends in Wilmington every year. Caprice is not a bistro in name only. It is truly a French bistro in every way. The food is totally authentic and we are so happy to experience this fine cuisine every year. Wilmington, you are extremely fortunate to have this gem in your fine city. Stand outs--the baguette, pâtés, daily sausage, steak frites, pork Normandie, and lamb shank. Perfect profiteroles, too! It was our fourth year in a row and we love it every time!
When visiting Wilmington we always have to have at least one evening meal at the Caprice Bistro.......My wife and I fell in love with this French restaurant many years ago and would not think of missing out on their wonderful escargot, rabbit provincial, the many fresh fish dishes cooked to perfection, a more than admirable wine cellar, to us it’s like revisiting Paris........put it on your must visit list, you will not be disappointed ..........
First time using OpenTable: easy and quick. Will be using it from now on. Caprice Bistro is one of my favs. Never disappoints. Consistently great and authentic meals. Service is always great as well. The staff is trained to answer all your questions about the meals including ingredients and how it is prepared. You feel very well taken care of there without the staff being overbearing. So why aren’t you making your reservations now?
The food was very authentic, down to the mayo and frites. I wish the duck had a bit more seasoning, it didn't have a gamey taste, but it was missing something. Overall meal was very pleasing. We had a table upstairs. It felt cozy and private. The artwork and etched design on our table made me appreciate their attention to detail. It's the little things like that which will bring us back.
We had a great time, the waitress and serving staff were friendly, informative and attentive.
The food was well prepared and I tried some new dishes, which I enjoyed. After eating the pasta at Caprice Bistro, I may never make pasta at home again. The salads were perhaps overly generous, but they looked great. My wife and our friend both enjoyed them as well as the trout and beef bourgoigne. (My spell check doesn't help much with French, so bear with me.) The pommes frites are by far the best in Wilmington. When the simple things are superb, then everything goes well.
We had not been to Caprice Bistro for several months due to a busy summer. We really like the food and the service and like the way you can just mix and match appetizers and salads and crepes and have a fun time. We always start out with French 75 martinis which comes with fresh bread with olive oil and salt. M had an arugula salad and a crepe fromage. I started with pork cheeks which is pork braised with bacon, beer raisins and onions. Followed with a great grilled romaine and fried shrimp salad with wonderful light and lemony caesar dressing. Last was a small (actually quite a few) order of mussels curry which also was great. We ended by splitting profiteroles. The price was OK, the selections were all great and we left happy after a brief time back in France.
A real French restaurant where the gastronomic experience is delightful! We have feasted on the duck confit, the leg of lamb, the mussels meuniere, and several other outstandingly delicious entrees. The restaurant is steps away from Wilmington's waterfront - a pleasant bistro-like environment.
Our food was excellent, and so was the server. We have been here before, and would gladly go back again. It was our wedding anniversary and it could not have been any better. We tell all our friends about the Caprice Bistro. Thanks for making it a great night.
We are 2 hours away and would make an excuse to be in the area just to eat here. All 3 mussel appetizers are delicious. The broth excellent to dip your bread. While the menu is wonderful we almost always order the Waterzooie, various seafood with a light cream sauce. Again, dip the bread in the sauce... Yum!
We had a lovely birthday celebration dinner at Caprice Bistro. The food was good. The mussels for an appetizer were very nice, with a large portion - plenty for two to share. Our entrees were excellent- trout and salmon. The salmon was my favorite of the two; it was cooked just right and had good flavor and was moist and flaky as you would expect. I was concerned that the herb emulsion might have too much cilantro in it (which I do not like at all) and the server brought out some on a dish for me to try ahead of time. The service was adequate - not stellar (we had to remind our server a couple times to bring a glass of wine, and he initially forgot our appetizer order, but we were not in a rush so it was not a problem. The service was friendly.
Caprice is a great place for fine French bistro food with fresh local ingredients. Nice affordable wine selections with enough food choices for everyone. Always a tasty meal and steps away from the Riverwalk. Go and see one of Wilmington's best. Friendly owner and great food make for a winner.
Caprice has become our favorite restaurant in Wilmington. The food is always superb, and I really like that they use fresh, locally sourced vegetables, meats and herbs. We had dinner at Caprice twice on our last trip to Wilmington. On the first visit, I had the salmon vert, which was topped with chopped almonds, and had a wonderful green sauce on the side containing sorrel, fresh herbs and a little mustard. On the second visit, I had the beef bourgignon which was also wonderful. Both had sides of fresh vegetables seasoned and presented beautifully. I had coffee afterwards, and it is so rich and flavorful it makes a great lo-cal dessert. Magnifique!
This was our third visit to Caprice Bistro and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The service was a little slower than our first two visits, but it was adequate. We ordered a bottle of wine and we had to ask the waitress to refill our glasses during dinner. I was disappointed that the Ile de Flottante was not included on the Prix Fix; however, it was so so delicious it was well worth ordering it separately.
Our reservation was on the early side, but the restaurant was not noisy or loud. We chose the fixed price menu with escargots for the appetizer, fish for the entree, and each chose a different dessert from the 2 options. Everything was perfectly prepared and authentic. It's certainly a little "taste" of France and we will return when next in the area.
Caprice was recommended by a friend, It was delicious ! We have traveled to France many times and food was authentic and reminded us of France. My husband wants to go back now and order exactly the same thing- GREAT atmosphere, Staff was friendly and informative.
We will be back!
