The place is really beautiful. The food was ok but didn’t reach the category of excellent. Anyway, we had a good time with my family.
Wonderful shrimp scampi flambé. The chicken with polenta and broccoli rabe was also excellent. Service is competent but not especially warm.
The service from the valet to waiter was amazing. It was the most relaxing, enjoyable night out. The timing on when we ordered our drinks to dessert was perfect and never rushed. We will definitely come back!!!
If any establishment is surviving on their past accolades, Capriccio's certainly fits the bill. Just because a restaurant is expensive, doesn't make it good. The first indication that this is not a fine dining experience nor a Michelin starred restaurant would be the salt shakers on the tables. Any renowned chef would have non of that in his establishment, but I'm sure you won't find any chef's in Capriccio's kitchen, just a few line cooks.
Salt seems to be a common theme here, as in their heavy handed over salted sauce on their pasta side dishes. Pastas sides are served with all their dishes, or apparently a side salad, which was not offered to me. Wait a minute, is this Capriccio's or Twin Oaks?? No, it's not Twin Oaks as the pork chops at Twin Oaks are much better than the flavorless, cheap cut of pork I was served at Capriccio's.
Maybe I should try something different and give them another shot. Oh, wait a minute, this was another chance, the last time I had their Bolognese Pasta, their Bolognese sauce is the worst I've ever had. I actually thought I was served a side of Pasta by mistake, but didn't want to go over the dish with my waiter, whom already brought me the wrong drink. Even I know the difference between a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned, and I'm the one doing the drinking!
My advice, if you really want to revisit the past, skip Capriccio's and just dust off some Madonna cassette tapes from the 80's, you'll enjoy it more.
The entire dinner was outstanding. A group of 12 and the service was flawless..
We had a wonderful evening at Capriccio with our family. It was very cozy sitting by the fire. The ambiance is warm and elegant, making the experience feel special and festive.
Fantastic restaurant for an upscale dining experience! We will absolutely be back.
We were seated at a lovely small table with enough room between our table and the ones near us that we could all enjoy our conversations without feeling like we were on top of each other. When we go out for a dinner for 2, we love to be able to chat and not have our neighbors' conversation seeping into our space or feeling like we need to whisper. Having space between tables also allows the servers to maneuver without bumping chairs, etc. The food is wonderful, beautifully presented and creatively paired, and although we were heading to the theater after dinner, the food delivery was well paced and we were out in plenty of time to walk to our destination. We appreciated being able to valet the car for the evening. This will be a regular spot for us.
Delicious meal and very attentive staff. We enjoyed the specials for the PPAC theater event!
Love this restaurant
Can never go wrong with the food
Attentive wait staff
We love this restaurant.
Celebrated our anniversary. Everything was amazing.
Awesome meal for my daughter’s 20th birthday made better by excellent service from Nick and Mario.
Waiter was not the nicest or most attentive. It was our first time there. Sorry we had such silly questions as what is cucumber dill foam and what does wild boar taste like. We asked for cherries jubilee. That seemed like a bit of an inconvenience. Not sure what the attitude was all about. He still received an ok tip as maybe he was having a bad night? I was told by friends and family they received excellent service at your restaurant. We will try again another time.
Haven't been to Capriccio's for quite some time. The food is fine but not the best any longer. So many new restaurants have opened up with new energy and interesting menu's, I'm afraid Capriccio's is kind of mired in the past.
My server's demeanor was not in keeping with the way it was in the past. He seemed completely overwhelmed and was almost treating us like we were an after thought. Also he was kind of unkempt in appearance.
I'm very sorry to give this review as this was a restaurant held in the highest esteem years ago. It is just average with an extremely high price tag.
This was second time my wife and I went here. The food was even better the second time. Will be coming here again and again. The service and food are top notch.
Every meal was delicious. Our party had (1) Steak Diane, which was prepared tableside by one of the Captain's, Nick, and it was tender, flavorful and perfectly prepared; (2) Boeuf Wellington that was cooked to perfection (medium rare); (3) Veal Chop with black garlic wine demi-glaze. We also had grilled mozzarella caprice and calamari fritti for appetizers. Service was attentive and truly 5-Star. The wine menu is quite extensive with excellent choices, but be forewarned the wine is overpriced. A delicious and pleasant evening was closed out with Cherries Jubilee prepared table-side and long-stemmed strawberries dipped in chocolate and served with sorbet, and cannoli. I would recommend Capriccio and I would go again.
Always a great choice.
The food & service was excellent!! We’lol be back!
Great food and service would definitely recommend the place to all my friends and family
Reserved a special table weeks in advance. Confirmed that day. Didn't get the table even though it was the first reservation of the day. I was told that they were sorry but gave it to someone else. Food was ok. Service was ok but the point of going there was for that table. Then when they didn't care.....it just ruined or night. I've been going there for 20 years. I wish it was like how it was 20 years ago.
Great food , great service
Hands down the best restaurant in Providence. Not crazy expensive either.
Great first time experience. We went for Valentine’s Day dinner, perfect setting and ambience for the occasion.
Been going to C for over 25 years for their Beef Wellington. Last year we went for our Anniversary, and so excited to have the BW. It was dry, over cooked and tasteless. Very disappointed, but we figured it was a fluke. I’ve been to C since then for lunch. The lunches have been good. Valentine’s Day we took another couple for dinner. Unfortunately, the only thing that was tasty was our appetizer Mozzarella Caprese. The calamari was boring; no imagination. The boiled lobster was fine- lobster and butter. The end. 3 people had the beef Wellington and again no taste, over cooked. Usually, the BW is sliced at your table. It was Valentines Day and they were busy. However, for the cost of the dinner, there are NO excuses. We will never go back. Should have gone to Gracie’s, Cafe Nuevo or Cav. In that order
valet was very helpful. Service was excellent. Despite having one primary waiter several came by to check on us through the meal. the bread was fresh. the menu selection had a good variety. my steak wasnt cooked enough for my taste so i asked to get it cooked a bit more. Because of that the manager came over and took it off the bill and also added free dessert. it was quite unnecessary but his way of making up for the slight disappointment. i think this restaurant goes out of their way to deliver exceptional service. my husband got veal and said it was excellent. The tiramisu was very fresh and taste was as expected.
I use to love Capriccio’s but unfortunately the last several times I have been there for lunch meetings I have noticed a significant decline in the service and the quality of the food. It is not the high end fine dining experience that I have known for over 20 years, honestly I may never go back.
Mario was the best... Never been here before and I wouldn't think twice about coming here again and again... Loved the food and ambiance was on point
Enjoyed dinner as always - fine food and service
Came for annual Valentines Dinner on Sunday before - was a little disappointed to not see decorations for holiday in place on weekend before
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food, setting and service are always fabulous. It’s warm, elegant and wonderful in every way. We travel an hour to get here, but it is so worth it.
We've in the past made reservations for Caprecio using Open Table, when we arrived on-time they did not have our reservation, the restaurant was clearly overbooked.
We were told our reservation was with a different Caprecio's.
My issue is with Opentable and NOT Capriccio's.
The Italian flare was missing, not like the CAPPRICIO’s I remembered.
I won’t be heading back anytime soon.
Our meals were delicious. Our Server was Kerry. She was excellent. She made great suggestions at our request. She was warm and very personable.
We will definitely be back. 😀
Beautiful decor great for elegant foodie
food was not worth the price
and there was no one there on a thursday night
Phenomenal service that was personalized and friendly. I did not like my original dish and the issue was quickly rectified and corrected. Our martinis were made perfectly, our appetizers were great. Oysters Rockefeller was the best I’ve ever had in the world. The beef carpaccio was to die for. The coat check is very convenient.
Excellent service and food! Went for our son’s birthday, his last JWU year in Prov. We had reservations for 5 ppl, but last minute (literally) changed to 6. They didn’t skip a beat, and put us in a wonderful semi private room off the lounge. Everything was fabulous!
