First I booked a reservation using OpenTable. I know from past experiences that Capriccio Grill gets pretty busy- seating fills fast so having a reservation works best for me--Upon entering the Peabody Hotel- I did valet which is complimentary if you're dining in at Capriccio Grill (as long as you get your parking ticket stamped by the hostess at Capriccio) the valet did inform me of restaurant renovations whereas the location/kitchen had been moved temporarily to Chez Phillipe which will be closed for about two weeks during renovations -- so I thought well as long as the food is yummy I'll still keep my reservation and go ahead- I was greeted by a friendly hostess (who offered to stamp my valet ticket:)) I said thank you and was seated- the waiter then approached poured water and asked if I wanted anything other than water. Water was fine and I then let him know that I know exactly what I wanted to eat- he took my order and returned with a basket variety of breads with butter-- my order was brought out in about 30 minutes (Fish was fried well and hot :)) the BlackEyed Peas were lukewarm and I was excited to taste the greens but they were too salty and inedible. I've ordered this exact meal before so I know what I was looking forward to eating. So the Greens were a FULL MISS and the Fish was a YES I'll try it again
I visited the restaurant with my daughter. We ordered the crispy ravioli, a pizza, and a steak along with a couple of drinks. The crispy ravioli came out luke warm with minimal stuffing and luke warm marinara. The pizza, while hot, was not edible to my 8 year old. The cheese slid off the crust and she did not touch it again. The steak was a decent quality but also luke warm. My Malbec tasted as if it had been open for a few days although waiter stated it was a new bottle. My daughters Shirley Temple hardly contained cherry juice and no cherry. At the end of the meal, the waiter did remove the pizza off the bill but no manager came over to ask about our experience. I feel the Peabody Hotel should have a much higher quality experience given the prestige of this hotel. Unfortunately, I will not return for breakfast or dinner and I will find alternate restaurants to dine.
Great New Year’s Dinner. Love The Peabody.... food is great and the staff wonderful!
There was nothing remarkable about the breakfast buffet.
The service was fine, but we expected a more memorable meal.
We made reservations at The Peabody for an overnight stay for a special Christmas/Birthday Celebration for my father who was turning 80. We had family fly in from different locations to celebrate, Florida, and Kansas. We could only get reservations at 8:30 on Christmas Day after many phone calls and in person requests to try to get earlier reservations, because our father was handicapped. I was told that they would contact us as soon as possible. I never received a phone call back from anyone, after I was told to go back to our room and they would have someone call us. We finally gave up went to dinner at 8:30, got to our table and only 4 other tables were being severed. Waiter came to the table and ask us for our dinner order, never asked for drinks, finally after many tries we placed our drink order but did not get it til after our dinner was served . We asked for napkins and we were told they were slammed, didn’t we know it was Christmas? They did not have any napkins left, we personally went to the restroom to get our own paper towels to dine with. The only reason I’m giving the food a 2 is because my father liked his turkey dinner. Every one else ordered steak and it was fatty and over cooked. The only thing that was good was the wedge salad. Also no mention of his birthday, was told he got desert with his Christmas dinner. Horrible experience and we will not go back.
Not as advertised. We were looking for something easy since we were staying in the hotel, but nice and delicious, too. It was Christmas dinner, but the website didn’t mention a different menu for that night, and the menu items seemed very good. There WAS a pre-set menu, though a few items were available separately. The food was okay, not great, and the room seemed more suited to breakfast than a nice dinner.
We heard that the restaurants at The Peabody did the best Christmas spread in town, and they did not disappoint. They had a set Christmas menu at a very reasonable price and we really enjoyed our meal. Our server, Douke, really helped make our night and dinner amazing. He especially helped when it came to the wine list.
My husband and I were in town for the holidays and they had an opening. We were planning on visiting the Peabody anyway. But we were both very impressed! They had a special holiday menu option which I had the turkey and dressing, husband had the ham. Both were EXCELLENT. The service was great. Would highly recommend!
Number one was the service. It was excellent! Attentive but not intrusive. Food was excellent!
I liked that they asked if we'd like bread, rather than just plopping a basket of bread on the table that we would have filled up on. It wasn't cheap, but not over the top either.
my only complaint is the lighting. It felt more like a cafeteria than a fine dining room simply because of the overhead lights. If they fixed that, 5 stars!!
