Very Very Surprised that a such a nice place exists in Desert Hot Springs.
It's a very nice place!
Gloria was a wonderful server!
The ribeye steak and the Filet were great, however the vegetable sides served with the steak were very undercooked. Maybe the Baked Potato is a better option. Thanks anyway.
Our reservation. They took care of us anyway but the reservation I made online did not even get to the restaurant.
Fettuccine was soft. Marinara sauce was not good. Breadsticks were great. Reasonable prices.
Great food. Used to be famous for steaks, now not so much. The NY strip was mostly gristle. Chicken parm is terrific. Kitchen is slow slow slow at lunch.
The food was very good and well priced. The service was excellent. The drinks were very well-made and the bartender was very good.
We all enjoyed our dinner. The New York steak was perfect and the Sea Food was very good. Our server made the evening fun! We will definitely go the next time we are in Desert Hot Springs.
Not like the old Capri. Steaks were awful..We couldn't eat them. VERY thin steaks. When we complained to the manager he said "Thanks for telling me" but did nothing to our bill. DO NOT GO. Run away from there.
Haven't been there since they were at the old location. Inside the Miracle Springs Hotel and it was very nice. Good service and good food.
This may be an Italian restaurant, and while they do a good job of the Italian dishes, the biggest surprise is their steaks. Choice steaks, served on a sizzling hot metal plate. Had lunch and dinner there this week and never disappointed. 16oz Filet for $34.95 can't be beat, Lobster Linguini was excellent. At lunch the Eggplant Parmesan and Fish & Chips were excellent too. Great service and a great view of the pool.
Staff, very attentive ,great atmosphere, great food!!!
When we arrived, a blonde woman, from across the room, said, "Just sit anywhere". So we stood there for a few seconds, assessing the open dining room when a young man (Jace) came, retrieved menu's, greeted us and said we could sit where we wanted.
The waitress was quick to the table, and was friendly but seemed to be in a hurry to get our drink and dinner orders. The menu was varied, Italian food and Steaks. We had to ask if there was a special for the day, and what was the soup for the day.
After we ordered, the manager (or supervisor) came over but she seemed on autopilot, I don't think she heard our responses or cared about our being there.
After the waitress brought salads, she didn't ask if we wanted anything else, (wine, drinks, extra dressing, etc). Dinner came before we were finished with our salads. After steaks (dinner) were served, the waitress never came back to check to see if we needed anything . The rib-eye steak was good, but had a bit of a sweet taste, good but different.
It was the day after Mother's Day but they only had 2 deserts from the menu available (poor planning). We will probably return, but only because we have been there before when it was better.
A pleasant surprise not too far from home. The service was very good, as was the salad. The salmon was a bit dry, but not bad . The cannoli was yummy.
Service when we were seated left much to be desired. Some waitresses were not busy and did not offer to open our wine. Service improved when our assigned server waited on us. Food was not that great..salad was good, but my filet mignon was not very tasty. Didn't even look like a normal filet you would get in a steak house. Made me wonder if in fact it really was a fillet. The accompanying penne pasta dish was not very tasty either..pretty bland sauce. Price was ok, but food not that great. Would not return.
The food was good and great coupon from restaurant.com gave us 1/2 off so it was affordable.
Very nice wait staff. We had to wait a long time to be noticed and seated. Loved the seating inside and outside. Food was good but a little overpriced.
I am a regular at Capri and I am always impressed with the service from Max and Jody and the quality of food. The portions are huge, the chef really knows how to cook the steaks and chops, especially the rack of lamb. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant and my favorite by far is dinner. The steaks are done exactly the way you ask, so come hungry!
Tucked away at Miracle Springs is an Italian Steakhouse with authentic old world recipes for sausage, meatballs, sauces and the best steaks for the money. The steaks beat most of the higher end chain restaurants costing twice as much. Try a rib-eye served on a "sizzle platter" with mushrooms and onions. The Braciole is one of our favorites. Decent wine list, generous pours for the cocktails, and great service with waitstaff who seem to really like being there.
Awful experience that was so disappointing given the presentation of its fare.
I'd call it a tired, shoddy coffee shop not a restaurant of Italian dreams.
My wife and I have eaten here several times. Previously we liked it. Food and service very good, prices were moderate. This time was different. We ordered two New York steaks. Both were filled with sinew. About one-half of my wife's was inedible. Couldn't cut that part.
The waitress was very understanding and offered to comp both dinners. We didn't accept that. We compromised and accepted one dinner compted.
What happened? We understand there is a new chef and new ownership. But we can't confirm that.
My friend BETTY and I had Lemon Chicken francaise for dinner and it was the best chicken we ever had. Great service too. Our server was very attentive and gave us great recommendations.
We will return soon!
Great ribeye steak and sizzle plate! Excellent service and attention to details.
Service and food was awesome...thank u for your hospitalitY
RUDY and VICKY
Dinner was so-so. I had the linguini and chicken, which was kinda blah. Salad was smothered in dressing. My wife had the rack of lamb, which was very good but the side of steamed vegetables was like cafeteria food.
Breakfast was very good.
Kym, our dinner server was wonderful. The breakfast servers weren't up to par.
Would eat breakfast or lunch here but head to Palm Springs for dinner.
This restaurant is ok for breakfast; however, do not recommend it for dinner. Prices are reasonable, but the food quality is mediocre to poor. My wife had the crab cakes which were heavy on filler and almost totally lacking in crab taste. My Filet Mignon was cooked properly, but had been too heavily seasoned with teriyaki sauce which detracted from the flavor of the meat.
My girlfriend and I were staying at the resort, and I had a restaurant credit for Capri so we thought why not try it? Service was attentive from start to finish. We had the dips for an appetizer, The hummus was the best of the three, with the tapenade just a little too salty. I had the Frutti di Mare in White Wine sauce w/ salad and a sausage on the side, while she had the Top Sirloin w/ a baked potato and Cheddar Broccoli soup. The Frutti di Mare was excellent as was the sausage, with the salad being alright, I just didn't see it coming with pickled beets. My GF loved the soup and her steak though, I was surprised how much of it she ate since she usually doesn't take out that much on her own. The Cannoli for desert was excellent.
Why cross the valley when you can eat the juiciest prime steak right here in DHS? Casual dining at a great price. No frills, no suits, no attitude and no crowds! I go here at least once a month!
We loved the food and the service! Was a great experience and we will be back for more.
We have been coming here a long time, the staff is friendly and the food is always good.
But i did use open table for reservation a special table. But the girl at the desk didn't even bother
To look at our reservation, and that table was taken, not a big deal, but really why even bother to
Make a reservation if no one is checking. Over all the best place in town to eat.
We stayed at the Miracle Springs Resort and ate at the Capri. Great service, good food, and reasonably priced. The breakfasts were especially good. And we could walk back to our room afterwards.
Awesome staff! Amazing food! Chef and staff were excellent for all meals. I would highly recommend this hidden gem to everyone
Nive to have the manager respond to your concerns.
Were put at table by door to the patio and there was a draft. Asked that door be closed or moved to another table. Door opened frequently so asked to be moved. Moved one table away and told that no way that they could set up another table for six - yet there were many tables which could be easily moved. New table was under vent and it was also drafty! Were told thermostat was set at 76F - more like 56F! Noticed other diners left to put on jackets! Food was mediocre except for one diner's meal of ribs which was undercooked. This was sent back, but it was still not cooked properly and could not be eaten. That meal was comped, but overall there was a " could not care less" attitude from the staff.
We are local residents and will not be back.
In the face of weak reviews, we tried this place because the owner (?) seemed to reply to the negative reviewers and gave the impression of seeking high standards. Sadly, this is not what we experienced. After being seated, we were assured water was forthcoming. We had to ask three times for water. And then ask for a carafe since no one offered to refill our glasses. People - this is the desert - offer water! Supposedly known for their steaks, we ordered the filet. What a disappointment! Small, tough, overcooked and with hint a teriyaki (or some other "seasoning"). DHS is a tough town for restaurants. This is not one to try.
Although the food was excellent, the service was poor. when we were sit we waited 15 minutes for a wait staff. the table was not set-up. after placing the order, I also order tea. Ask the server if he could bring me some sugar, he never brought any. I do not if they were short-hand or what, but there were a lot of people not satisfied with the service.
Great food, lot of variety & options. Good wine list, very reasonable. Sports/Games shown on screens so you don't miss any action.
Three of us who live locally decided that this year we would go out for Thanksgiving, and take a break from feasts past. The Capri restaurant was a good choice! Located on the Miracle Springs property, not too many spa goers on Thanksgiving, but they were lined up at registration as we left.
The menu was simple with traditional turkey dinners, and they offered Prime Rib or half a roasted duck. All in all this satisfied all of us and we were well fed. The waitress was excellent as well. We will go back and we will recommend the Capri highly; good food, inexpensive, not crowded. Happy Thanksgiving to the staff that had to work that day.
Dinner was $13.00. Picture showed pie...pie was extra. Picture showed a sumptuous plate of food. We ordered and it came out in about 1 minute and looked like it came off a cafeteria line. Mashed potatoes? Smaller than a golf ball.
Service? We had a reservation and asked the server (Mayra) if we could sit in main dining room but were told we could not. After we asked why people who were ahead of us and had no reservation were put in main dining room, she was so rude and said they had to keep it even. There were approx. 3 parties in each room! We saw down dejectedly and she sailed over in a few minutes and said we could sit in main room.
The whole experience was less than great. Never again...
Went to the capri for dinner and ordered the Orange Roughy. When it came it was overdone. The waitress insisted it be returned to the kitchen. The second one was divine! I think the cook may be over cautious and will at times tend to over cook some food. Be specific how you want your meal prepared. I left a larger than normal tip and left pleased. I would recommend Capri!
Reasonably priced, nice atmosphere.
