Very disappointed we had to wait over 30 minutes past our reservation time to even be seated. They seemed to be overwhelmed. Once seated, 10 minutes before a server approached us so overall set a bad tone for dinner......food good as usual.
Found Capri on Open Table. Had never been there. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience - food, service (Dan), and ambiance. We will go back.
All in all very good. If I were to be picky, I'd say my linguine could have come out of the water 1-2 minutes earlier. Good meal tho.
Straight forward Italian fare. Decent proportions. Great for a night out in the neighborhood.
Very experienced and knowledgeable wait staff. The food is very fresh, creative, and served at the correct temperature. For our birthday celebration, they even put rose petals on the table. They know how to make people feel special.
Always a great meal among good hosts and servers
Brain, the owner, is welcoming and both Dom and Dan are superior servers. Food is always hot and served promptly.
Drinks are fine and always as ordered.
food, server and wine all really good. I have 1 pet peeve. We dined early with plenty of open tables. WHY? do you seat someone at the table next to us, so close its communal dining. You could stand 1 less table along the windows to give diners some conversational privacy. It literally ruined my dinner. Couple next to us was clearly uncomfortable too.
We were seated 35 minutes later than reserved time, but found seats at bar to pass time. Server seemed harried and came across as abrupt and not particularly friendly...hopefully this was because they were busy? Food was their shining light and we all enjoyed our meals! It was a bit loud for easy conversation. But we will try it again.
Food is delicious staff is friendly and restaurant is absolutely gorgeous ,we went in a busy night they really manage to gave us the best experience possible if you are looking for authentic italian food don't skip Capri you and your family will love it.
Celebrated our 35th Anniversary on September 15,2016. Sat curbside on a lovely evening. We had except food and Stephanie, our server, was delightful.
The only good restaurant in downtown Downes Grove. The salmon risotto and the perch were excellent. Server was helpful and attentive. Great food and a great place.
I've only been here twice, but each time I've visited here the food and service have been world class. Every server at this establishment is polite. I will most definitely continue to dine at Capri when I'm craving quality Italian.
The food was good and the wait staff did a great job, they were very attentive!
Capri in Downers Grove was a enjoyable experience the people, food, spirits and service were very good. Add that their menu items are reasonable and you have a restaurant that belongs on your favorite list.
Everything was wonderful, beautiful restaurant, delicious food and friendly servers , I would recommend this capri to family and friends, I just loved everything we had,
way to go capri,
We've been there a few times and always enjoyed it. Food is always good, and plenty of choices on the menu. Service was a bit slow that night, but they had a rehearsal dinner there with 44 people, which took up a big part of the dining room. No problem other times that we've been there.
We had eaten there 2 or 3 times previously and our meals were excellent, but hadn't been in the last 2 or so years. Our meals were just OK, nowhere near the quality we had experienced before. Also the prices were very high for the mediocre food we were served. At least the wait staff were very friendly and courteous, and when asked how we enjoyed our meals I replied in the affirmative so as not to spoil my Fathers 92nd birthday dinner. Because of the high prices and mediocre food I won't be returning. (I don't mind paying a premium price for an excellent meal, but not for a low end diner quality meal.)
The waiter was one of the worst servers I have ever seen. He practically made a mistake on each course and on each round of beverages. He was nice but evidently not trained or prepared for this type of service. I have to tell you I am a regular of the but ridge location and this is not even close to the type of service I receive at that location. I do not expect anything in return for you to fix this service. One example I can give you is I ordered one limoncello for my wife and the waiter brought me a lemon desert, and the worst part of it was that I was charged for it. I hope my feedback helps this restaurant.
Great food and service as always. Lindy took great care of us again. Love this place because of the food and great service. Thanks to Brian for running one of the best restaurants I've been to!!!!!
Food was delicious, beautiful restaurant and our server was very friendly good selection of wine and I have to admit it I am Capri's biggest fan.
It just the right way to go for a GREAT dinner.😉
Awesome food and beautiful restaurant .
The restaurant created a perfect evening. The fried calamari were cooked to perfection. Both entrees; linguini with clams, and the chicken saltimboca were excellent. The service good considering it was a busy Friday night
We'll go here again. Loved it!! All 6 of us enjoyed our choices.
Delicious Italian food - we have dined here two times and everything we have had has been delicious and the service wonderful!
Everything was delicious and our server was fantastic I believe he was the manager, we started with some Brussels sprouts in their own recipe it called capri as appetizer, our main dishes were rigatoni in a vodka sauce outstanding, my wife had the veal loin special with a Portobello sauce it was delicious I would like to tell all of yous about the banana foster dessert its very creative and tasty, server made it in front of our table very classy, overall I would highly recommend capri only because it just perfect😉🤗
We had a delightful evening, from cocktails through dinner. Our requests for slight modifications to menu items were readily and deliciously handled. Our waitress was very friendly. I plan to go there again with my husband. Loved it!
Excellent food, good ambiance, great service. Could hear dining partners speak and have conversation.
The food was good . We tried a new wonderful wine! Poor service from the waitress. She was not attentive to our table.
The service was good, the drinks (blueberry mojito, lemon drop, I think) were great.
The food - would not recommend this to anyone. Chicken florentine and veal florentine. Salads were small with no taste. Presentation of main course was not appetizing. Meat was overdone. For the price - a great disappointment.
Capri is close by like many Italian restaurants and like others, it can get busy, noisy and the tables are a bit close together. However, that is where the similarities end. Capri has some lovely bottles of wine that are at a slightly lower price point than comparable restaurants, my favorite being The Prisoner, a great red blend. The food is excellent as well! My son ordered grilled calamari which is very tasty. The chef kindly prepared an eggplant Parmesan appetizer (not on the menu) that had been a special a few weeks ago. The eggplant slices are crisp on the outside without making the inside mushy. On the menu, there is a honey grilled salmon filet with grilled veges that is fantastic! Also on the menu is veal Marsala that my husband raves about because it's not the paper-thin pounded veal chops. Unfortunately, we did not partake that night but a favorite dessert is the Bananas Foster prepared table-side. There are other tasty desserts that also give this one a run for its money! You can't go wrong with Capri in Downers Grove!
Service was good. I had the white fish special in a lemon butter sauce and it was excellent. My husband had one of the chicken dishes and he thought it was just mediocre.
This is a very lovely restaurant, our waiter was very friendly, food was delicious and the owner brought to our table a cheese platter that was an OH WOW for our entire family this is a family owned and operate restaurant this is my new number 1 restaurant to go with friends and family.
We waited forever even with a reservation. It was busy but it was ridiculous to wait so long
Experience was nice. Cesar salad was swimming in dressing. Other than that all of the other dishes were good
Another great dinner at Capri. Raves all around from very picky eaters!
Food and service were fantastic but very hot inside of restaurant.
We went for our first time my husband and I are new in the neighborhood, we couldnt decide so many choices but we finally went in there this restaurant is georgeous we were greeted immediately by the owner as we were approaching thru the main door we sat by one the many high Windows that they have in the restaurant ,Pasta was excellent fillet Mignon was out of this world and for dessert we had a home made tiramisu it was delicious, I would highly recommend this restaurant it's perfect.
Food was not as good as we had hoped after going to Capri in Burr Ridge. Not same owner anymore I understand. Loved our waitress.
This is a very beautiful restaurant service is great and food is amazing, I had a group of friends from New York I took them to capri not knowing what to spect, we were surprise with the restaurant specially on the fillet Mignon special it was out of this world fresh salad very tasty appetizers overall my visit was great I can't wait to go back and keep bringing more family and friends, this is my new must go to spot for all ocations.
Good food at very reasonable prices. Stick to fish and veal dishes. There are better places nearby for a plate of pasta with sauce.
