About

Enjoy a taste of a contemporary interpretation of the Mediterranean by Caprese. Step inside our calm and warm colored dining room to experience a menu that uses traditional ingredients and cuisine from the Mediterranean and delivers them to you in a way that you cannot find anywhere else in Old Town Alexandria.

You can still find your favorite traditional dishes like the Caprese salad, but reinterpreted with a creamy burrata mozzarella cheese. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try entrees that take ingredients from throughout the Mediterranean and deliver a flavor you will want to try over and over again.

We went for Valentine's Day dinner and had a very nice dinner. There was only one server in our section and he was working as hard as he could; but just could not be everywhere at the same time.

Waitstaff was overwhelmed even though restaurant only half full. Hotel full so maybe this was due to room service, but should have staffed appropriately for full hotel.

We ended up not even eating at the restaurant. This was not even a real restaurant. It was what looked like the continental breakfast area in a hotel. Very disappointing to say the least. Not the ambiance or experience we were looking for.

Good options, well prepared usual choices in salad, entree, wine by the bottle or glass. At King St Alexandria metro, so a chance to walk the historic streets. Quibble: too brightly lit! Get a rheostat people!

Stayed at the Embassy Suites for 6 nights. The first night we ate at Caprese, but there was a special event taking up the whole restaurant so we were seated on the patio. That was okay, because it was a beautiful October evening. The flatiron steak was on the chewy side, but the vegetables were fine. My husband had shrimp fettucini and thought it was okay, but not great. We were the only diners on the patio, so the service could have been better as I think we were overlooked. Tried to go back the next night to see if we'd have better luck, but again, another special event, so we went around the corner to Joe Theissman's restaurant, and ate there 4 more times before leaving Alexandria! Overall, I can't give a very good review for Caprese, as our experience was not very positive. Prices were too high for what we got.

Capers is located in the Embassy Suites hotel right by the King Street metro station, making it the ultimate in convenience. It was very quiet on our weeknight trek to celebrate a birthday with a light dinner and a piece of cake. Once the waiter heard what we were there for, he went out of his way to give a special experience... chocolate decadence cake, with sprinkles and a candle. They get a big A-plus for the effort.

This is not a Mediterranean restaurant. This is a mostly American restaurant inside a hotel. Misleading info. This place should not be on Opentable.

The food here is unbelievably good. small menu, but very good. try the calamari, taste fresh. at the bar Aiden always remembers what you drink and your name not sure how he does it. the manager, Fred, always makes you feel like a long lost relative. not sure how they do this, but they are awesome. They have half price appetizers during happy hour. so my calamari was only $6. it was so good I ordered another. unfortunately, I couldn't eat two. a case of my eyes are bigger than my stomach. again a great neighborhood find

Although many items on the menu are Mediterranean influenced, this is not a Mediterranean restaurant. That being said, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was a nice, quiet place to bring a large group of out of town guests to visit over dinner. I would just change the category so people know what to expect.

The restaurant is located inside Embassy Suites Hotel and was not set up for lunch at noon. No staff was there. We called before we went there to check on parking, but the hotel switchboard could not connect us to the restaurant. Open Table should remove this restaurant from its listing. Needless to say, we ate at another restaurant nearby.

My husband and I visited Caprese as part of Alexandria's restaurant week. They had a 2 for $35 special. For the appetizer, we had the spinach and artichoke dip. It was served bubbling hot and with plenty of little pita triangles. For entrees, we had the spicy jambalaya and the balsamic chicken. Both were very well done. It's a bit of a hard restaurant to find. The hotel in which it is located can be a bit of a maze, and the signage could be better. But, otherwise, good stuff!

We had a wonderful experience at Caprese. The staff is delightful, and attentive. Normally, I'm not a fan of hotel restaurants, and I had walked past the Embassy Suites a number of times and had no idea that they have a patio which is on a quiet courtyard as part of their dining room. It was so pleasant to sit outside but not have to listen to the traffic of Old Town. We had such fun, we returned the following week with friends, but got "rained out" from sitting outside. The staff accommodated our group of 6 in the lounge area, and provided the same attentive service we had experienced the time before. Everyone in the group was very happy with their meals. Their take on chicken nachos was a crowd-pleaser if you are looking for something to share.

Made reservation for 8, arrived, told there was a private event and would need to sit at bar, no tables available. Told them about reservations and they just shrugged their shoulders. Cold day had to walk a few blocks to next place. Several other good ones in area. Won't be back.

I didn't realize while looking at the Opentable app that this restaurant is in a hotel, and it was not a very pleasant experience. We were in a large room with few other guests, the lighting was extremely bright, just no atmosphere at all.

The food was decent but nothing special. While prices weren't prohibitive, I did not think this represented a good value.

Our service was sporadic, although I attribute that primarily to the fact that our server was very inexperienced. I don't blame her, but she should have had some guidance and supervision to serve us and the other diners.

The person who was wiping down the tables offered us a seat even though it was clear the restaurant was closed. We took it upon ourselves to evaluate the situation and knew we would be disappointed in the service and the food, if we were going to have to eat quickly.

This restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not what we expected. We waited until last minute to make a reservation for Valentines day dinner for 4 so we did not have many options. The restaurant is attached to the Embassy Suites in Alexandria. The food was only okay and too expensive to be only okay. The place was practically empty and we were waiting for at least 30 min before a waiter came over to us. After the waiter took our order another waitress came in his place and she was much more attentive. Dessert was very good. Overall it was not awful but it was not great however I would not recommend it.

The restaurant was difficult to get into because of the cold temperatures all the outside entrances were locked. We had to walk to the hotel entrance to get in. The food was a disappointment. We had steak which was okay but had been smothered in brown gravy that tasted like the powdered mix- way too salty. We also ordered a jambalaya. It tasted okay, however it tasted nothing like jambalaya. It was bland and tasted more like tomato paste with bell peppers.

I went for Alexandria restaurant week and for a 3 course meal for $35 it was a very good deal. I had ordered a bottle of wine for the table that doubled the bill and was surprised when I had to ask for it again. The waiter was very attentive besides replacing silverware that he cleared.
Also was a bit disappointed that the candle I requested to come with desert on Open table was not fufilled.

Had a nice, reasonably priced and good meal at Caprese during Restaurant Week. Service was a bit disjointed and slow, however. Not sure if servers were also handling the much larger bar area on the other side of the wall.

It was a little hard finding the location since it was right next door to the Embassy Suites, actually it was inside the Embassy but you can't see it from Diagnol Rd because the main entrance is inside the foyer but besides that the service was horrible. It took a little too long for me to get the food and it wasn't that busy but they had a big party there and they mostly catered to this group. The selection was mediocre because it was restaurant week, so since I went because of that I had only a couple of choices. Me and my date had the steak. Mine was ok, but pretty much flavorless besides the taste of char from the grill but it lacked seasoning. My date's steak was not cooked properly. Probably wont return.

The restaraunt was okay, the ambiance and setting was nice and had good space
For old town. We got there and no one was there to attend to us so we had to wander around looking for a waiter or service person that wasnt chatting with someone else. They appeared to be clueless about our reservation and stuck us at a table, even though i had specific requests noted in the reserveration to sit outdoors. I asked and theu easily let it happen. I expected the outdoors to be nicer and the service be more attentive. The food that i personally ordered, i regret. I admit maybe it was just not my type of food and shouldve ordered a salad instead but im sure the food overall was fine for everyone else. In all, i wouldve picked a different restarunt.

I have seen the sign for the restaurant, but wasn't sure if it was only outdoor dining. Glad I took and chance and tried it! The server was excellent and, at a table of 6 diners, all of the food was delicious! It is somewhat confusing as to where to enter the restaurant from the street. There should be a designated entrance from the outside and a sign clearly posted above that entrance.
