Cappy's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went with 3 friends to Cappy's for dinner. The appetizers, pate and grilled oysters were excellent. Our waitress could not have been better. She knew all of the the menu items well and was able to recommend good choices to each of us. The Halibut was a big hit and was enjoyed by two of our group. The salads and the sides were also very flavorful. This was the best dinner I have had at Cappy's in a long time. It is always good, but this was even better than usual. I am ready to go back for another meal as soon as possible. The dinner and service were really outstanding!
The mimosas were great, the food delicious, the ambiance on the patio very nice, service friendly and prompt. No complaints. We were having brunch with good friends from Dallas and they were very complimentary of Cappy's. The eggs sardou, gumbo, and big breakfast with steak were all very good. We will go again often.
Absolutely the best service and food. Our waitress, Autumn, was phenomenal. From explaining each of the "off menu" specials, to making great recommendations for each of us, her watchful care made dinner an absolute success.
The specialty beverages were deliciously refreshing and as described.
We each ordered different plates, including some of the specials. Each plate was presented beautifully, and more delicious than the last one. Difinitely a food paradise.
We loved having a reservation because it can be hard to find a seat for weekend brunch in San Antonio. We had a table for 7 including one toddler and one child. We all ordered the weekend breakfast and it was delicious. We were seated immediately. It took a while to get our food but was delicious once it arrived. Our waitress was polite and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was comfortable, cozy, and quiet enough to hear table conversation easily. This was our third visit to Cappy’s and we’re in love!
Cappy's is one of our favorite repeat dining experiences in San Antonio. It is our go to restaurant for a really nice, relaxing enjoyable meal. Cappy's specials are always very special and this time was no exception. The appetizer pate was mouth watering. I had the beef tenderloin and it was butter knife tender and perfectly prepared. My wife had the Tuna and it was perfectly prepared as well. A really great evening. Thank you Cappy.
Few wait staff can navigate artfully the line between attention and intrusion. Our waitress tonight—indeed, the staff every time we’ve been—have done so. Clearly, they are well-trained and equally motivated.
The food, as always, was exquisite. It’s just a bit pricey, but worth every penny. The
Wine selection is also excellent; even their “house” wines are superb.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Wide variety of options and takes available on the menu - - all of which are delivered with great detail to taste and dining experience. The Cappy's version of "Nachos" as an Appetizer are a specific "must have" - and don't forget the Lobster Mashed Potatoes
I have eaten at Cappy's many times snd always had great service. Unfortunately this night was horrid service. The young Man serving us on the patio gave the wrong drink three times, Doubled the price of the meal on our ticket and brought coffee without cream and even after asking him for it he brought it so late my coffee was cold. There was not even an apology from this young man and I had a friend from Houston that I was trying to impress that was certainly not impressed.
Hard to find and was a bit confused about where to walk upon entering (couldn’t find the hostess). Our waitress was delightful and bought a dessert for my boyfriend and I who were celebrating an anniversary. The scallops, bread, chocolate cake and ice cream were amazing!
Dining with girlfriends for Sunday Brunch. Mimosas and Bloody Mary's are an excellent start. Benedict choices are always a favorite, like Eggs Sardue and Comodore. But, one friend really enjoyed the Spinach, Artichoke and Brie Omelet. I had the special of 2 Lamb Chops over eggplant puree. It was very tasty, but I would have liked one more chop. The breakfast breads are always good with Cappuccino!
I made an Open Table reservation as I was leaving the Tobin theatre on Saturday night. We got the last reservation at 9:30. When we got there, the restaurant only had a few tables left who were finishing up for the evening. When I told them we had a reservation, they were happy to seat us, even though we were going to the very last people there. Our server, a lovely young lady, was very accommodating and friendly. Some of the wait staff left while we were there and they were beginning to clean, but they did not rush us. They stayed away from our area until we were done. All of us had seafood, which was very good. We will return.
Pleasant atmosphere but the food was just average. It was crowded for lunch and my group felt a little hurried to make room for other diners.
The gluten-free options were not marked but the waitress explained my choices to me. I ordered the chicken salad and fruit plate. It was attractively presented with fresh fruit, and the chicken was seasoned nicely ... but the meat was dry and hard. It tasted like canned chicken, but was probably just overcooked. Although no one at the table complained, no one made a comment about how good their food was -- which is a silent verdict.
