even better than usual - which is always very good
Had Father's Day brunch and the menu had several tempting entrees but the Pomard, scrambled eggs with truffles, crab, and lobster, was fantastic and a great value for what you get. Expect a whole lobster tail on top of the eggs. Their bread basket filled with miniature muffins, cornbread, and scones are especially delicious with their strawberry butter. We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. I would recommend reservations in advance.
We had a great experience and a lovely brunch, the seasoning of some of the food was bland, but we had a great time
We eat at Cappy’s often, and always for special family occasions. Always perfect atmosphere and food. Our all time favorite for many, many years.
Great service and well prepared dishes. All of the staff were most attentive and all questions were answered. Waiter was more than willing to explain the specials more than once.
We had a fantastic experience. The brussel sprouts and shrimp appetizer was great. Foe entrees, I had a special of the day, a pork tenderloin with roasted street corn. My wife ordered the mustang chicken (recommended by a friend and the server). Both were amazing and we completely finished our plates. Our server was great and they also have a good selection of drinks that are different than you find at other places. We cannot wait to return to try other items.
Great outdoor dining. The brussel sprouts were to die for!
What Cappy's has always had, it still has--great place for relatively quick meal; food is reliably good, sometimes very good; and a great place to run into friends and neighbors.
Reservation services are pretty good and reliable and your folks seem to want to provide good service.
I wish you guys could make outdoor seating in the summer more livable, with fans, misting or whatever. the outdoor area is a favorite unless beastly hot.
Once again, Cappy’s came through and I enjoyed a great birthday brunch. The salmon and kale salad combo was fabulous! Our server - Alex - was attentive and very professional. The support staff made timely visits and refills. Ali in all, a very nice way to dine! Thank you.
Great service! Staff are very friendly, I went for brunch with a friend from work the tables are not to close where you can hear the other patrons conversation. The choices for brunch are decent and the mimosas are a must.
Our dinner at Cappy's was very enjoyable as always! The food was very good, service was great, and the atmosphere was good as well.
Wonderful food and service! They made a delicious plate of grilled vegetables for me.
Alex was our incredible server. He made perfect recommendations and his service was among the very best I’ve had. The food was phenomenal and a must if you are in San Antonio! The grilled oysters and shrimp nachos were my favorite. They also have the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever tasted.
The food is wonderful, the wait staff is well informed.
I have been there many times and am always pleased with every thing.
Always love eating at Capps’s. Everyone there is first class.
Cappy's is my go to place for business lunches and casual dinners with the family. The Menu is awesome and the daily specials offer great variety.
Kenneth took real good care of us. We enjoyed a great business meal. Our international guest was impressed with the restaurant and Kenneth's service at our table.
We've been going to Cappy's for years for the great food and service. This experience was different on many levels, and one that was unique to this brunch.
We booked on Open Table. We were given a table midway through the restaurant, but as my mother slowly approached with her walker, we were abruptly moved to a different table in a curt and unfriendly manner to a table by the busy entrance. The reason given was they had a large party coming that required space, which we found to be untrue as the original table remained as it was and other tables were moved to accommodate the larger party. What they really meant was, and I would have appreciated a modicum of honesty, was my mom was creating a certain problem for them and they wanted to get her closer to the exit.
Our server was efficient and as friendly as possible to turn the table as fast as possible. We were not overtly rushed, but the lack of service and the demeanor in which it was offered told us the story.
We have been patrons of Cappy's for as long as I can remember, and this is the first time we have felt we were unwelcome and a burden.
You can always count on Cappy's to be consistently high quality. Wait staff always very good and knowledgeable. The chef's specials are always different and exceptional. I have eaten almost the whole menu over time and everything has always been good.
We find Cappy’s to be the perfect spot for dinner on our way to the symphony. We generally bring friends and are never disappointed.
Always consistently good food and service. A great place to go.
La comida maravillosa aunque dieron las 10 de la noche y ya no quisieron ofrecernos postre porque era tarde. Dejo mucho que desear el servicio.
Everything was great. Had the ahi tuna salad and was surprised by the size of the tuna.
Always a great experience at Cappys! It's our "go to" place
My boyfriend and I came to Cappy's on Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend (2018). We didn't plan our trip very much but were able to get a reservation for 7pm only a few hours in advance. The items on the menu looked pretty conventional at first glance, but they are actually prepared in very creative and thoughtful ways - perfectly executed. The ambiance was perfect, very nice and quiet with a tastefully rustic feel, and the noise level was not bad at all - it was easy to have a nice conversation at sane decibel levels. The service was timely and very friendly. The bread was fresh and warm. Would definitely recommend!
Cappy’s has provided decades of good food, service.’c and ambience. We brought friends from out of town so they could see what they’re missing in Houston. Cappy’s never fails to please us.
Awesome food, awesome service. This place always hits.
Hostess took us to the stairs to seat us upstairs without asking if upstairs was ok. My friend who was dining with me struggled to climb the stairs - she is having a hip replacement in 4 weeks. When senior citizens come to dine it would be a thoughtful gesture to ask if stairs are a problem. The hostess told me that I should have made that request when making reservations & proceeded to show us to an upstairs table. Very uncaring attitude.
Elegant, friendly and convivial dining in a convenient location towards downtown, several universities and theatres and museums and cultural centers. You can always count on a welcoming, warm atmosphere at Cappy's, lovely food, creative art on the walls and an ambiance of kindness and content.
the special of the day was excellent. it was pork tenderloin on pasta salad
I had the ribeye steak with couscous. The couscous was crunchy and difficult to eat with my cracked tooth. I ordered it, because I assumed couscous would be soft. Not sure if it was undercooked or suppose to be that way. The favor was good, I just couldn't eat it. The steak knives were not very sharp. I had a hard time cutting the steak. I used my butter knife to show my husband how dull the knives were, as the butter knife cut similarly. The steak was cooked perfect, tasted wonderful. They simply need to sharpen their knives. I asked for a second knife, but it wasn't better. We ordered the shrimp and brussel sprout app and it was fabulous. My husband had the salmon and he said it was great.
Excellent fried oysters n rice!!’
Cappy’s is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is consistently good, the ambiance is great and it’s priced well. I highly recommend it.
Great food and always address my wife’s food allergies.
Sticky toffee pudding the best.
Really enjoyed our first visit here, I wish we had tried it sooner! Everything was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
Everything is good whether you want fish, steak, or a hamburger. There is a good variety of choices that are all fresh and very well prepared.
My wife and I have dined here before and it never disappoints. We got the appetizer crab cakes and halibut for dinner and both were amazing. The best anywhere!
Wonderful meal, excellent wait staff and the entire team was so accommodating. We grew from a party of 6 to 8 people and they were most helpful in making sure we had a good experience. They even lent me a shawl when I discovered I had left mine at home.
Food wise they cooked my lamb chops perfectly and my husband’s ribeye as well. He lived the bone marrow butter. If we return to San Antonio we will definitely go back!
