The creations here come from wisdom. The scallops are the best in the country. They know how to make ingredients sing although many other restaurants just talk about that kind of thing. Very very happy I came.
SO good and such a special, unique experience. The loup de mer is to die for!
In spite of Covid 19 precautions necessitating the move to all outside dining, Capo did a great job of making our evening memorable. The service was excellent as was the food.
Great team at Capo. Super organized and always smiling. GM food is excellent and they make you feel “at home”. I love this please and would recommend it to all my friends
This is was my second time at Capo and my second bad experience.
I will start with the good part as the food is really good, which is why I gave it a second try.
On the bad side is the service ( which is probably why it s automatically added to the check ). This second time I booked it for my wedding anniversary, and I précised it while making the reservation, however, there was no mention or attention about it.
A tasting menu was available, we asked the description to our waiter, and it was described as an 8 course menu, which he listed : octopus, calamari, salad, pasta, branzino, salmon,NY steak, dessert ). It turns out it was actually a 6 course menu, they decided one of us will get the calamari, other one the octopus....Also, they started the menu with the pasta, which is odd as the waiter called it secondi, as he listed it as coming after the antipasti and the primi, and as it is normally served when he listed it and not when it was served.
When we tried to get some explanation, the waitress gave attitude and they finally gave us a spoonful of soup and a cup of ice cream to make it 8 courses....
Regarding my first experience, I was with two friends and my wife, I was paying so when the check came ( about $1500 ), I gave my card without checking and tipped 20%, after that, we had some wine to finish and the waiters were nowhere to be found, once I arrived home, I realized the tip was already included so they ended up with over 40% gratuity, which was my mistake, but they could have at least keep providing service, or maybe let me know when they saw I doubled tipped, I wouldn't have taken the money back but they could have offered a glass of wine or at the very least, refilled our water glasses which had sat empty for quite some time.
In conclusion, the staff at Capo is rude, incompetent and quite frankly deceitful for any restaurant but especially a restaurant of this caliber, devastating as the food is excellent.
Fantastic evening. They have done a great job setting up their out door dining area. White truffle pasta off the scale good!
Service was just as impeccable as the food.
Capo is my favorite restaurant. Besides sitting in a parking lot hearing road noise, (lacking usual ambiance) the food and music always delight!
Great food! GREAT FOOD!! And while there is nothing more they can do (COVID), its a shame to have to eat such fantastic food in a makeshift dining room located in their parking lot.
I cannot day enough about how much we love Capo. We had the tasting menu and loved every bite!
Expensive and worth every penny. Truly delicious meal and excellent service from start to finish.
Great Food, Ambiance, & Service.
- Maryland Crabcake Torta
- Corn Ravioli, Truffle (So good we ordered another helping)
- Coleman Farm Tomahawk Pork Chip Alforno (Go with the recommended chef preparation of 'medium')
Food was AMAZING and the service was TERRIFIC! Due to Covid the seating area wasn’t the best, but Capo did their best to spruce up the outside area. Will definitely go back!
It’s pricey but lived up to the hype
The veal and calamari are amazing. So were the heirloom tomatoes.
I have been to Capo before and thought it was great. At this point they appear to be taking advantage of customers by jacking their prices by 50-100 percent. The prices in no way represent what you get. $85 for a steak! $40 for pasta appetizers! The experience and pricing not to mention the indigestion from the food was horrible.
It was my husband’s 40th birthday and I am so glad we celebrated at Capo. It was absolutely delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambience was perfect.
The food is absolutely amazing and the service is spectacular.
Our favorite treat in Santa Monica
Very nice Covid-dining. Safe and clean.
The food was awesome. I had the pork chop...very nice. My date had the dover sole, which was also great. Pasta was on point.
Beware during the construction street parking is a bit tricky.
Wonderful food and amazing wine selection.
Fantastic meal at Capo. My wife and I tend to over order when we go, so we split everything and walked our not too full. We had a fresh Mista salad, Loup de Mer grilled over almond wood, and finished with homemade spaghetti with fresh tomato salute. The perfect meal. Forgot to mention a really nice bottle of Chianti From their amazing wine list.
Food was very mediocre. Music was too loud had to ask them to turn it down. Service was OK. pricing was ridiculous.$150 for the fifth special. 2 people $425. too expensive for a mediocre experience. would never go back again.
The best food and service in the city. Great ambiance. Perfect dining experience.
Our favorite restaurant!!! Consistently excellent! Everything is delicious! The ambiance and music always makes me smile. The wood fired slightly charred Caesar salad, al forno calamari, corn ravioli with truffle, chicken scallopini, extensive wine list, and a must is the volcano cake for dessert! Service staff is knowledgeable and friendly. LOVE CAPO
Great food. Lovely atmosphere.
The lobster risotto was a revelation.
Will be back
Great place with exceptional food.
One of LA’s best.
I would recommend yes & no in all honesty
It is very very expensive and I am not sure the food justifies the exorbitant prices - be careful
I ordered a simple starter salad for $25 and it was 3 handfuls of different greens that you could have out of a packet with a very plain acidic dressing over.
The vegetables that come with the entrees dishes are exquisite but again that does not mean that the prices need to be double from any other 5 star restaurant
The Dover Sole is poor quality. The chicken is good quality but it is $70+ for a breast
Pastas are nothing special.
Overall the ambience is nice, cozy and the service is good. But not to justify a mandatory 20% to be added each bill
We were two persons who drank only a bottle of sparkling water, 2 inexpensive starters and two mains, and we ended up paying $240. It's just overpriced from all angles however you look at it. The food is good. But not excellent to justify the price bands.
Always perfect. Get there by 6
Love the neighborhood vibe of this Santa Monica restaurant. It can be really loud if the restaurant is full, as tables are very close to one another. Huge menu and wine list. Outstanding execution on the food. Grilled dishes and pastas are wonderful! Excellent - friendly, professional - service. The staff always make us feel welcome and special even though we only visit once a year or so.
Used to be great. Had not been for many years and decided to give it a try. Was not as good as I had remembered.
Best pasta in Los Angeles. Excellent service. Can’t wait to go back.
As always a very special meal with a superb wine list to choose from.
The most amazing scallops I have EVER had...with truffles that put this dish WAAAAYYYYY over the top!!!
