Wonderful evening at this restaurant.
The ambience was perfect for aour anniversary dinner. The staff and our server were excellent and so was the food. A perfect choice for a special occasion.
Horrible steak- tough and tasteless.
This is the 2nd time that we have been to this restaurant.. Each time I come to Nashville, I will make sure that I come here again. The food is great, the service is great, and it's a perfect place to have a business dinner at the round table and it is quiet enough that you can talk.
Relaxing Mother’s Day brunch. Thanks!
We try to eat at the Hermitage Hotel Capital Grille several times a year and usually for a special occasion. It is one of the few restaurants that always feels like a treat and not just another meal out. This was the first time we tried Sunday Brunch and it was Mother’s Day. It was without a doubt the best brunch I have ever experienced. Everything I tried was very fresh and prepared exceptionally well. My friend let me try his craft cocktail which was also incredible. A few items that really stood out included the best Mac & Cheese I have ever had and I would put their shrimp, grits, and gravy up against the best of Charleston. The Capital Grille Brunch is truly a treasure in downtown Nashville.
This is a beautiful hotel and our waitress was delightful. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was really good except the shrimp and grits which was so salty that it went uneaten. Our waiter said she had told the chef but he thought it was just right. Our taste buds said no. The sweet onion soup was wonderful and the salads were wonderful as well.
Very disappointing. Our food was lukewarm though the steaks were flavorful. There were only four scallops and the temperature was also cool. The sides were small (though we were warned they only serve 1.5 people). They were all disappointing. Fried okra was tasteless as were the fried green tomatoes. We were trying to get into the “southern spirit” with traditional dishes but were were all quite disappointed. The service was...odd. When we told them (very graciously) that our entrees were all cold, they brought us three huge desserts which were all, like the rest of the dinner, quite mediocre. They were very nice but I’d never recommend this restaurant. The following nights we dined at The Palm Nashville which was beyond amazing and 404 Kitchen which should not be missed. None of us were sure how The Capitol Grille was still in business considering the many outstanding restaurants in Nashville.
The Capitol Grille is, well, a little oversold. Friendly service and a pretty dining room couldn’t overcome the feeling that this restaurant had seen better days. The menu was, in a word, sparse. The wine list was wildly overpriced and not well constructed. And the overall tone of the dining room was subdued. Even the diners seemed subdued. And except for superlative citrus-infused beets, the food was pedestrian. I expected more.
Our experience was impacted substantially by the manager's management of seating. His inability to plan appropriately resulted in our relocation, which wouldn't have been a big deal, however the messaging was not transparent and inaccurate. The reality was that we were displaced to accommodate a large "influential" party that received a substantially different level of service then we did. Our waiter did not poor one glass of wine for us, but broke his arm accommodating the other party. Beautiful setting, favorable food but I walked away feeling dissatisfied. Very disappointing experience for a 5 star restaurant/hotel.
We visited Capital Grille on a Saturday night to celebrate a marriage. We arrived 30 minutes early and the staff immediately set up a table for us with minimal wait. The entire staff was professional, knowledgeable and attentive. Our table sampled a variety of dishes and we were all favorably impressed. I ordered the 10 oz prime filet. It was cooked to my exact specifications and was truly one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The sides were well prepared, and the desserts were outstanding. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Nashville.
Fabulous evening. Ambient lighting could be lower and its a little loud for fine dining
Food was fine. Ambiance fine. Waiter was ok but not very personable.
Celebrating with friends
Overall was disappointed - ambience was not what I expected - room is bright and noise level high. Thought food was over priced. $50.00 for halibut on a bed of corn - the kale salad was disappointing. Half bottle of champagne was $64.00 for 2 splits, not a half bottle.
Overall pretty good
Good drink selection and nice ambiance
We wanted to get a nice dinner for 4 before the Predators Playoff game. Learning that they raise their own beef, we had to try their Steak, and it was one of the best steaks I have had the pleasure of eating. The server was amazing, and he was definitely a player in the success of this dinner. The drinks were great, the sides were great, and while the predators lost the game, because of Capitol Grille, the night overall stayed in the win column. Thanks
Great place, fantastic service, and perfect for taking Clients.
Marco is special and makes a wonderful first impression. Thomas is a true professional. He cares for each of his customers. Fabulous place to eat and enjoy friends around your table.
We were quickly seated for our business lunch and service was immediate. Kind and courteous staff and a very well rounded menu, lots of choices. Food came out after a short wait and was fresh and expertly prepared. Would highly recommend.
Waiter was less than attentive. Room is nice but needs some ambiance - soften the lighting, candles, music. The fried chicken was exceptional and the petit filet nicely done. We had a cocktail in the bar before going to the dining room and the bartender was great. Best part of our experience .
The service was atrocious. Worst service in Nashville. Waiters were not attentive. Just terrible all around
We had a wonderful meal and excellent service. Looking forward to our next visit. The okra was as good as our Mama's.
It was fine. Please note that this isn’t the Capital Grill. Totally different experience. The waiter seemed distracted. I felt slightly overlooked and looked down on by the staff. The feeling was that they had better uses of their time. I just wasn’t impressed for the money hat I spent. I would recommend Urban Grub. It was great! Also, the Palm at the Hilton was very good!
I would strongly suggest to anyone who is going to TPAC to see a show to have your diner there. Afterwords you can pick up your valet parked car. The food is really good, a litle pricey but worth it amd for only 13 dollars you can valet park your car. They let you pick it up after the show. TPAC is only a half block away.
Scallops and Mac/cheese were good and hot. Okra was served cool and returned hot upon request but our meal was finished so it was left on table, no offer to remove from check. Lemon drop martini came with salt instead of sugar on rim. Service was slow and not as attentive as in the past. Not personal.
The host Marco was wonderful but the service was terrible I had to ask for my wine menu three times. I waited for my first drink for over 15 minutes and my steak was cold, the appetizer crab cake was one crab cake that tasted substandard with a squash underlay that was also substandard. The dusted oysters were so over dusted that all we could taste was batter. I told them when I ordered my steak that I would like a steak sauce which the server said certainly and of course it did not come at the time of my meal. I had to ask two servers to get the steak sauce and was then told that they did not have what I asked for. Right after my entree my check arrived I was not asked at anytime whether I would like a coffee or desert. I understand that most people that go the Capital Grill are there for the show which we were as well. I understand making sure we were out in time for our show but to simply ask if we would like our check would be customary and of course coffee and desert...would not go back!!
Only reason we tried Capitol Grille AGAIN was location before a TPAC show. AGAIN, it was overpriced and underwhelming!
We had two 10 year olds they gave regular menus, we asked several times before receiving children’s menus(we had already explained we were going to show, obviously we were on a specific time frame.)
We ordered a bottle of white wine that was placed in the center of the table. We asked for a chiller, we were told no they would keep it in the back, cold. This would have been fine had our server not been MIA most of the meal. We had to flag people down multiple times for the wine we purchased.
We stated we wanted to share the fish special because we were rushed and not starving. The kitchen divided it for us.....we MIGHT have gotten 3 oz pieces. They were so small and thin they looked like pieces cut off/leftover from other full orders.
The kids food was cold and tasted terrible. Neither child could eat theirs. The bread was also cold and dry.
We tried supplementing their meal with a dessert so they would at least feel full. The coconut cake was dry and terrible. The chocolate dessert equally as bad.
Our server was so quiet on the rare occasion we even saw him, he was so quiet we could hardly hear or understand him. He seemed annoyed that we were not thrilled to hear the specials were both steaks priced at $100&$110.
Honestly, both specials $100+.
Sharing a meal and a bottle of wine, our meal was over $250. Sadly, we got wine and m&m’s at the show that were better.
I wish I could say this is my first experience like this at Capitol Grille, but it is the norm here.
We came to the Capitol Grille to celebrate an anniversary. It was delicious, especially the onion bisque, salmon, and ribeye. Our service was just ok. It was very empty there since it was a Monday night, but our servers ignored us quite a bit. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry since we waited twenty minutes after finishing our dinner before anyone came back to check on us. We stayed for dessert, but it was lackluster in comparison to the rest of the meal.
Excellent restaurant - the food is truly farm to table. They have their own farm and raise their own cattle. Can’t get better than that. Food was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance is casual elegance! Will definitely come back.
Great food. Classic and beautiful venue. Extraordinary service.
My husband and I chose Capital Grille for our 20th anniversary celebration. We made reservations for Saturday at 1:45pm. We didn't realize they're basically closed between 2pm and 5pm. So we were the last brunch customers of the day. This was great for us service-wise, as we were the only ones there. The waiter was attentive and friendly. Sadly, our food choices were limited to the brunch menu. We were hoping to choose between brunch or dinner. I had eggs, bacon, potatoes and added steak. My husband had salmon. All of the food tasted mediocre, at best. EVERYthing was bland and somewhat lifeless. My favorite part of my meal was my salad.
Service was extremely slow
Fish was so salty
taste lasted for days
Host who seated us was not welcoming or friendly. $50.00 snapper entre tasted fishy and not fresh.
Recently I dined at the Capitol Grille prior to seeing "Wicked" at TPAC. The food and service were excellent and it was a pleasure dining in such a beautiful, historical setting. For a nominal fee, I was able to leave my car while attending the performance which was extremely convenient and only steps away from TPAC.
Great experience. The service was excellent and so was the food/drinks.
The food and service was wonderful! The shrimp and very creamy grits were delicious. All of us enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese! They were the best we have ever eaten! We look forward to coming back!
The steak was perfectly cooked. Potatoes and Brussels sprouts exceptionally flavorful. Carrot cake moist and not overly sweet. All in all, the Capitol Grille is a great high-end date location.
I had given up on this restaurant many years ago after having some some mediocre dining experiences. I knew there had been a chef change some time ago, but I had not bothered to go back until recently. I clearly should have gone back sooner. I went prior to a Broadway show recently and was impressed. The food was superb with lots of variety and great flavors. The service was also excellent. I will be back again soon!
