Capitol Grille - Hermitage Hotel - Nashville Ratings and Reviews
We arrived before the TPAC performance and first of all the valet were excellent.
We were greeted by the hosts and escorted to our table. 1 1/2 hours was allotted and we felt relaxed. We started with a nice Virgin Mary and it was perfect. We both ordered local omelet and it was so delicious stuffed with goat cheese. My husband had Tennessee sausage and I had bacon. We had berries on the side rather than grits or potatoes.
Overall A plus.
This was our first time @ Capital Grille & we were running later than our reservation time. The hostess made every effort to ease our anxiety by showing us the great hospitality I’ve always heard about. She seated us at our table and within a moment or two our server Jeff came to say hello and had our drinks and appetizer ordered and delivered within the first 15 minutes. Well as you can imagine the entire evening went as smoothly as our first moments had. I have to acknowledge all of the staff members working here. Every individual within this establishment greeted us with the same great service as we had been given from the moment we entered. Thank you Capital Grille for a memorable 35th Wedding Anniversary.
bread was average, ceaser salad was crisp and presented well but the dressing seemed a little watered down, steak was good ( but not in the very good category ) which is what i was hoping for, side dishes we're by far the best ( in the excellent range ), service and ambiance were excellent
My last review of The Capital Grille was a bad one. I’d had a terrible experience one night last year, and used this forum to vent. However, the meal I had last week was a delight, with unequalled service! And, truthfully, this is more typical of The Grille, and the Hermitage Hotel. This wonderful gem of Nashville brings you back to a time of gentility and hospitality. I recommend everyone visit this beautiful hotel and restaurant when in downtown Nashville. The food was very good, well prepared and presented. One small discomfort was the fact that our party was seated by the kitchen door, but that was my fault for not telling the host that one member of our party would not make it, so we were seated at a larger table that happened to be by the kitchen. Try this restaurant. You will be glad you did!
The Capitol Grille is a great place for a civilized lunch or dinner in a bustling Nashville. From the uniformed doorman to the calm, quiet downstairs room it was a lovely experience. It is not cheap but the food was delicious, the service impeccable and the ambiance from another less hectic time. And the Oak Bar is famous for a place to go for a bite and cocktail before or after a performance at TPAC
The restaurant had only one other guest seated at 7 pm. They attempted to seat us at a table right next to that party! Why?! We requested and were given a different table. Our server did an excellent job - attentive without being intrusive. 2 of 4 steaks were prepared properly, one slightly overcooked and one was not up to appropriate temperature. Was sent the undercooked steak back to kitchen and it returned to table a bit over cooked, but acceptable. Side dishes were good. For dessert, we ordered apple cobbler, which was excellent. However the chocolate cake and coconut cream cakes were dry. Overall, the meal and dining experience was disappointing for the price.
Our food took a long time .... they were awesome while we waited. My husband ordered steak it wasn’t cooked the way he ordered and he didn’t care for the flavor. I was pleased with all my vegetable selections excluding the mustard greens. The service was the best part of this experience.
Attended for Christmas Eve dinner. It was a three course price fix menu. This was a surprise to me as I had called beforehand to insure that they offered their normal menu and not price fix for the holiday. Regardless, the selections for the $77 menu per person were all very rich and no vegetarian options. The service was excellent, but probably won't return since the menu was on the heavy side and prices are hefty. If you are a meat lover and are prepared to pay a high end bill, you will be satisfied.
The hotel history makes up for a fairly average meal. The best parts of the menu were side items. The meat and fish were nothing special. Dessert wasn’t that interesting. It’s kind of hard to enjoy at 8;30 pm when the tables are empty and all flowers are being removed.
Should we leave? I guess so. It’s very pricy and I would recommend just having a drink in bar.
Excellent food, exceptional decor, and the ambiance of stepping back in a history kept close to the heart. It's hard to describe the Hermitage Hotel "experience" and I dearly love this scared ground. The food honored and complimented a memorable dining experience... Thank you...
