Only reason we tried Capitol Grille AGAIN was location before a TPAC show. AGAIN, it was overpriced and underwhelming!
We had two 10 year olds they gave regular menus, we asked several times before receiving children’s menus(we had already explained we were going to show, obviously we were on a specific time frame.)
We ordered a bottle of white wine that was placed in the center of the table. We asked for a chiller, we were told no they would keep it in the back, cold. This would have been fine had our server not been MIA most of the meal. We had to flag people down multiple times for the wine we purchased.
We stated we wanted to share the fish special because we were rushed and not starving. The kitchen divided it for us.....we MIGHT have gotten 3 oz pieces. They were so small and thin they looked like pieces cut off/leftover from other full orders.
The kids food was cold and tasted terrible. Neither child could eat theirs. The bread was also cold and dry.
We tried supplementing their meal with a dessert so they would at least feel full. The coconut cake was dry and terrible. The chocolate dessert equally as bad.
Our server was so quiet on the rare occasion we even saw him, he was so quiet we could hardly hear or understand him. He seemed annoyed that we were not thrilled to hear the specials were both steaks priced at $100&$110.
Honestly, both specials $100+.
Sharing a meal and a bottle of wine, our meal was over $250. Sadly, we got wine and m&m’s at the show that were better.
I wish I could say this is my first experience like this at Capitol Grille, but it is the norm here.
Excellent restaurant - the food is truly farm to table. They have their own farm and raise their own cattle. Can’t get better than that. Food was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance is casual elegance! Will definitely come back.
Great food. Classic and beautiful venue. Extraordinary service.
My husband and I chose Capital Grille for our 20th anniversary celebration. We made reservations for Saturday at 1:45pm. We didn't realize they're basically closed between 2pm and 5pm. So we were the last brunch customers of the day. This was great for us service-wise, as we were the only ones there. The waiter was attentive and friendly. Sadly, our food choices were limited to the brunch menu. We were hoping to choose between brunch or dinner. I had eggs, bacon, potatoes and added steak. My husband had salmon. All of the food tasted mediocre, at best. EVERYthing was bland and somewhat lifeless. My favorite part of my meal was my salad.
Service was extremely slow
Fish was so salty
taste lasted for days
Recently I dined at the Capitol Grille prior to seeing "Wicked" at TPAC. The food and service were excellent and it was a pleasure dining in such a beautiful, historical setting. For a nominal fee, I was able to leave my car while attending the performance which was extremely convenient and only steps away from TPAC.
Great experience. The service was excellent and so was the food/drinks.
The food and service was wonderful! The shrimp and very creamy grits were delicious. All of us enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese! They were the best we have ever eaten! We look forward to coming back!
The steak was perfectly cooked. Potatoes and Brussels sprouts exceptionally flavorful. Carrot cake moist and not overly sweet. All in all, the Capitol Grille is a great high-end date location.
I had given up on this restaurant many years ago after having some some mediocre dining experiences. I knew there had been a chef change some time ago, but I had not bothered to go back until recently. I clearly should have gone back sooner. I went prior to a Broadway show recently and was impressed. The food was superb with lots of variety and great flavors. The service was also excellent. I will be back again soon!
Perfect ending to a perfect stay in Nashville. Petite filet was outstanding and the Mac & Cheese was delicious. Would definitely return when back in Nashville.
We arrived at 6:00 and our food arrived at 7:00.Special $50 Alaskan Halibut served appeared under cooked and cold.Sent back to the kitchen .No time to eat, left at 7:15 for the TPAC play. Not a pleasant experience.
Lovely atmosphere, great food.
Easter brunch - there were no cold/hot seafood or hot poultry items on the buffet.
We went for breakfast while visiting family for Easter. This experience was HORRIBLE. They had a brunch planned and scheduled breakfast in the Pub area of the restaurant. Four of us at a pub table. All servers were diverted from the breakfast area. We waited 30 mins for a cup of coffee and 45 to place a breakfast order. No shrimp for one of their signature items-shrimp and grits and a completely disorganized wait staff-3 servers by the time our breakfast was completed (2 hours later) because the wait staff told us they kept getting pulled up to the brunch. This is a failure of MANAGEMENT and operations. If the manager worked for me, they would be terminated. We complained twice-probably should have left, but had a flight to catch and needed to eat before going and had all of the local family mem
We traveled to see Wicked at TPAC across the street. The bar and restaurant personnel was very good getting us served timely.
Going to Wicked show.
Always one of our favorite places to experience dining.
Exceptional classic stylish dinning! Service was great, food was fantastic and the ambience is warm traditional which we love.
Service was impeccable and food was delicious! Loved our cocktails too!
Disappointed in quality of entries for the price.
This is our go-to spot for a meal before a show at TPAC - so easy! Food & service is usually good.
Our server, Dustin was great! He went above and beyond to accommodate our gluten free requests and put up with our antics! Great time!
As always, reliable service, and well prepared dishes, in one of Nashville’s architectural gems
Service was excellent as well as the food and wine
Food was not good.
We haven’t eaten here in about a year, but I wasn’t impressed with the menu or food as I have been in years past. I love the atmosphere and location.
We love everything about this place. From the beautiful setting (inside the stunnung Hermitage Hotel, best building in Nashville), perfect service, and delicious food. It was our 10 year anniversary and from the free Valet parking, to after dinner drinks in the Oak Bar, the night couldn't have been more romantic.
Disappointed in what was once a Nashville bellwether for fine dining. In a nearly empty restaurant they sat us right next to another table, but our server was good. The food was just ok, not even very good (except the signature Vidalia Onion soup, good as ever). For $250 with tip - two appetizers, two entrees, two drinks and a shared dessert - there are many other restaurants in town that offer better food at a better price.
This is a good place for a working lunch. Being able to make a reservation is great. The ability to carry on a conversation is unique among most downtown eateries. The menu prices are on the high side of reasonable. However, this place could be so much more. The food is somewhat average for such a nice establishment with rich history. If the quality of the food was on par with the ambiance and exclusiveness of this place, it wouldn't be so quiet and relatively empty at lunch.
Good friendly service and excellent food
Great food and great service. Food was excellent, entire family enjoyed it!
This what the first time eating at the restaurant for both of us. We were celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, we had a new server who wasn't being watched by the experienced servers. We didn't get plates with our starter and waited for a very long time to get our beverages. The server didn't listen to one of the orders and brought the food out without the change. I think the server will be good, but needed guidance. It was the little things that became big things. I will eat there again because we really thought it had a nice ambiance and our food was good.
Anniversary
We come here from time to time for weekend breakfast/brunch...we like how quiet & "tucked away it" is from a lot of the regular, crazy-busy weekend brunch crowd and we can easily valet which makes for a relatively quick & easy in/out. The last few times we've been here though we haven't been nearly as satisfied with the quality of our food...I think there's been some changes in the kitchen and overall we haven't been all that impressed. Even the coffee seems to be getting worse! I had the "avocado toast" which seemed like a relatively new addition to the menu and it was pretty sad.
We decided to eat at the restaurant in our hotel because of the rainy weather. The dinner was good but I was hoping for more selections. Earlier in the week, we had breakfast in the Capitol Grille and we thought that the selection then was great and the value even better. Like the service throughout The Hermitage Hotel, service was outstanding.
Wonderful!
We chose the Capitol Grill to celebrate our birthdays. It was both my husbands and my birthday 2/24 & 2/25. Our meal was over the top excellent! My husband ordered the Filet and I had the scallops. My husband requested a nonsugar version of the Brussels sprouts for his side as he is on a special diet and the chef made his Brussels sprouts just as we had requested. The wine menu should have something for any wine conesour. We were blown away that our waiter, Thomas gave each of us us some beautiful macaroons and fruit for our birthdays as we were leaving. We will definitely recommend and be back to the Capitol Grille!
Food and service was excellent!
We ate breakfast there. It was lovely! Food was delicious!
