Capitol Grille - Hermitage Hotel - Nashville Ratings and Reviews
My wife said coming there made her feel like a "princess". Very cool vibe, beautiful hotel architecture (built in 1910) plus good food. Our wait staff Lori was terrific. Interesting food options. They had the usual type choices for a high end restaurant but also hen, bison & venison. The grits were outstanding. And be sure to check out the hotel lobby upstairs snd the men's room as it is done in a 30's art deco style (and ladies can go in to see it - two were coming out as I was walking in ☺ ).
Wonderful restaurant. Excellent Sat. brunch. Entire party ordered eggs Benedict. Suggest servers advise guests that menu item includes blackened tomato. Causes meal to be very spicy. Each of us who ordered the eggs benedict ended up discarding the tomato after just a few bites.
Do not assume this is a member of The well known restaurant chain The Capital Grill!!!!! The prices are far too high for what you get. My wife ordered a filet that was burnt and I had hot chicken. My water was empty before and after the entire was served. Not a good experience with hot chicken. It took nearly an hour to get our food and the restaurant was half empty. Disappointing experience. Too many good restaurants in Nashville to waste your time and money here.
The ambience of this 107 year old restaurant made it the perfect place to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The lobster bisque and the truffle risotto were delicious. The service was world class and very effort was made to the evening a memorial event. We make the right choice for our special evening.
I had booked reservations for Valentines Day six weeks in advance . We arrived a few minutes early and was immediately usher to our table next to the hostess stand . She had a stack of roses on her stand but was only giving out one to every four ladies that arrived . Upon being seated we we presented with the special menu for the night with a choice of three different plans for the evening there was no pricing on the menu . We had looked online and it looked a little pricy but thinking it was a special night and a classic restaurant it would be a great place and evening for this occasion ... Wrong !!!!! ... 3 course meal , small portions and a cold high traffic table absolutely no atmosphere .... $ 267.00 later we are on our way to enjoy the evening and good music .once is enough for me .My wife said Mellow Mushroom would have been better .
The onion bisque was bland and the deviled eggs we're not very devilish!. But everything else was fantastic! The steaks were cooked perfectly and the other entrees at our table were excellent and tasty. Especially their famous Mac & Cheese. And the desserts are huge! As always, the service was impeccable.
The meal was fine. Both of us are vegetarians, so we both got the pimento cheese sandwich. It came with fried green tomatoes. The fries were really tasty. The food was served quickly in consideration of our attending a TPAC performance. The bloody mary was just okay and small. The Kiss drink was very good. I wasn't offered coffee or another drink and the server was not around much. I would have liked coffee, but by the time I wanted it, we were getting close to the end of our time. I will go back again and have some of the breakfast treats like waffles and pancakes. Those looked good.
The Capital Grille is the BEST place to dine before a performance at the TPAC! It is right across the street, and the waiters are adept at pacing your meal so you will be in your theatre seat on time! Excellent food, locally sourced. There’s something for everyone on this fine, hotel dining room menu.
This is not your every day restaurant as it has a higher price point. However it was one of the best meals I have had at an establishment of this caliber. The fried green tomato appetizer was a perfect blend of tart tomatoes, crunchy exterior and creamy pimento cheese. The cocktails were excellent (try the apricot bourbon cocktail). My main course was cooked to perfection. The filet was so tender and well seasoned. We shared sides (they are family style) of Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. Both were tasty and well prepared. Dessert did not disappoint, I got the cobbler.
The service was flawless.
I’ll start with the good. The steak was perfect! I really liked the okra and the Blueberry Cobbler was yummy. There is no TV, (which is a plus.) I’m finding more and more that nice restaurants have TVs? It was quiet. The service was good and it is a very short walk to TPAC. However, all the bread was terrible! The salad was just average as were the potatoes. And the table centerpiece was one sad flower in a vase. Overall, not worth 0ver $400 for the 6 of us. That included one vegiterian that eats like a bird and one couple that split a steak and we don’t drink alcohol. So I’m sure that many people would spend much more. The food use to be much better.
We arrived before the TPAC performance and first of all the valet were excellent.
We were greeted by the hosts and escorted to our table. 1 1/2 hours was allotted and we felt relaxed. We started with a nice Virgin Mary and it was perfect. We both ordered local omelet and it was so delicious stuffed with goat cheese. My husband had Tennessee sausage and I had bacon. We had berries on the side rather than grits or potatoes.
Overall A plus.
This was our first time @ Capital Grille & we were running later than our reservation time. The hostess made every effort to ease our anxiety by showing us the great hospitality I’ve always heard about. She seated us at our table and within a moment or two our server Jeff came to say hello and had our drinks and appetizer ordered and delivered within the first 15 minutes. Well as you can imagine the entire evening went as smoothly as our first moments had. I have to acknowledge all of the staff members working here. Every individual within this establishment greeted us with the same great service as we had been given from the moment we entered. Thank you Capital Grille for a memorable 35th Wedding Anniversary.
bread was average, ceaser salad was crisp and presented well but the dressing seemed a little watered down, steak was good ( but not in the very good category ) which is what i was hoping for, side dishes we're by far the best ( in the excellent range ), service and ambiance were excellent
My last review of The Capital Grille was a bad one. I’d had a terrible experience one night last year, and used this forum to vent. However, the meal I had last week was a delight, with unequalled service! And, truthfully, this is more typical of The Grille, and the Hermitage Hotel. This wonderful gem of Nashville brings you back to a time of gentility and hospitality. I recommend everyone visit this beautiful hotel and restaurant when in downtown Nashville. The food was very good, well prepared and presented. One small discomfort was the fact that our party was seated by the kitchen door, but that was my fault for not telling the host that one member of our party would not make it, so we were seated at a larger table that happened to be by the kitchen. Try this restaurant. You will be glad you did!
