Capitol Grille - Hermitage Hotel - Nashville Ratings and Reviews
We went for our anniversary. The waitstaff was pleasant and the ambience was nice, but it was overrun with theater goers and ballet goers and our waiter asked us if we were headed anywhere at a certain time. I should’ve just lied and said yes, because we were completely put on the back burner after that. We’d ordered a $100 bottle of wine that wasn’t even brought to the table until halfway through our entreé. It was fine. The food was good. It was absolutely NOT worth the $250+ we paid for the meal. We won’t be back for dinner.
This was one of those fine, old time Nashville establishments. High quality food, cooked very well, with attentive service. My only complaint was that I got this "Capitol Grille" confused with the "Capital Grille" chain. I was surprised. A pleasant surprise, but patrons should be aware that you won't find the famous Capital Grille steak au poive or the calamari with cherry peppers on the menu.
The meals are well prepared and presented. We enjoy trying different menu items and our last visit was no exception. I loved my meal and my husband had the bison ribeye. He said it was good but would have preferred a regular ribeye. The staff here is excellent. Our server was especially attentive and made us feel welcome and comfortable. We'll be back again when we visit Nashville. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fine dining.
Everything from appetizers, salad, and steak was not seasoned good and lacked in taste or was not cooked correctly. It was very disappointing for the price of the food. My wife and I could have went to a chain restaurant and would have had much better food.
Made reservations, for a party of 6, weeks in advance, as would be expected for a holiday meal. We were early so we went to the bar for a drink, everything we ordered at the bar came well prepared. We were seated within our time frame. Our waiter was average, at best. He was guaranteed a $95 tip, so you would think he could be a little more engaging. We ordered a bottle of wine and he had our son's girlfriend taste test...ok. Four ppl ordered the prime rib and two had the turkey. Portion control was obviously an issue as the plates varied greatly. Soups, salads, desserts were good but main courses were average to below average at best. Probably wouldn't go back
Thanksgiving dinner. Despite a reservation, we were seated late, items were no longer available on the fixed menu, service was slow, and dinner was mediocre at best. The fried apple pie dessert saved the meal and experience, but we will never do Capitol Grille for a holiday dinner again.
The table was not ready for our 615pm reservation. They were out of ham (one of the four entrees) but were not informed until we were ordering. We were rushed. Service has no personality or concern for our table. Too much time between the starter and main course. Way overpriced for the quality of food. Overcharged and gratuity was included (party of 4) and not calculated correctly. Based on the service provided I could tell they would include the gratuity. It was not earned. Low class. I will never bring my family here again.
Everything was absolutely amazing. Those were some of the best biscuits and preserves that I have ever had. The waiter and staff was very attentive as well as accommodating. I did not want goat cheese on my omelet and they let me substitute it for white cheddar with no problem. I most definitely will be dining at The Hermitage again during the Christmas Holiday.
I have dined at a few Capital Grille locations. I had high expectations and my expectations were not met. While the service was very good, the food was note up to my prior experiences with Capital Grille. Caesar Salad was pre-made and had a very plain dressing. There were not may steak offerings. The Strip steak, I chose, was cooked to temperature, but not season well. While the had a extended wine list, it was very overpriced.
Gorgeous place that I've been to a few times before, but we (party of 4) were seated at 6 25 and had to cancel our food order because we didn't receive it by 7 40, and had a 8 pm show to catch. No contact from the wait staff until we initiated it.
We visit this restaurant a few times per year, often before a show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. On prior occasions, the service had been good. Saturday night something happened in the kitchen, and we almost missed the curtain even though we had allowed two and a quarter hours for dinner. The manager did comp some of our food, but it was a disconcerting experience to be so rushed.
Been to many Capital Grilles around the country. While I know this is not a part of that chain and they take pride in that, I unfortunately don't believe the restaurant is quite as good as the chain restaurants. The atmosphere is good as well as the service but the food was a bit underwhelming. If you are attending TPAC for an event, very convenient.
Rabbit biscuits were good but cornbread not biscuits. Fillet was good. Atlantic salmon was tasteless. Server said it was wild but that is highly suspect. However, the worst part was that the server never checked on us after the appetizer was delivered. Never asked how the food was even when dropping off the check. No pleasantries whatsoever - completely checked out but was working other tables.
Over priced and under whelming. Steaks were overdone for medium. Salmon was average. Scallops were good. With everything ala carte this one stung. Don't mind paying it if phenomenal. This was not. House cab sav was very good though. Took a while for our food and then had to ask for bill to get to a show. Was not worth it.
I was very disappointed this is not The Capitol Grill that is in Washington DC and other large cities. This is The Capitol Grill down the street from the Capitol, a big difference. The food was over priced. The only bread offered was cold. Service was very slow and not very attentive. I had a drink at the Oak Bar and was charged an additional $2.00 for a dry cocktail. So you pay an additional $2.00 not to get your drink watered down. $16.00 cocktail. Back in the day this may have been the place to go but there are many restaurants that offer better food and service at these prices.
This was a classy restaurant with decent food, however, not sure it was worth the money. Despite arriving at 6pm for an early dinner it took quite a while for the server to acknowledge us , our apps came out at different times and the steaks were a little overdone. All in all a nice place but I think it needs to up its game if it wants regulars instead of people passing through Nashville given the prices.
It just so happens we were seated in the oak bar which was perfectly fine. We had lunch reservations prior to going to the theater at 1 o’clock. When we arrived, it took quite a while just to get water as they were short on staff. Once we got our food we were quite rushed on time. However, everyone was quite friendly and I understand things happen. I will certainly dine there again as I’m sure next time will be better.
This is a grand old room with elegant huge pictures of Nashville landmarks. It was really quiet on Sunday night - 5 tables. Too bad the fried tomatoes and soup came out cold, 25 minutes to get a drink order of aged bourbon, and lots of time and inefficiencies of the serving, and getting the check ( had to ask for the dessert menu).. They had plenty of staff for the number of people, they just didn't seem to know what they are doing . Dinner was e hours. The ingredients, aged beef, mustard greens were really good. The upstairs parlor is very elegant.
We had reservations at 6:45. Ordered quickly.
Food served 8:40.
Fried chicken too spicy for our friends. Hot chicken.
Our $70 aged steak had fat, Friddell and less then 1/2 inch.
Oysters were not tasted, all crust.
Horrible experience with out of town guests.
$400 plus bill.
Had dinner here with two friends. Fancy, with a price tag to match, but we knew that going into it. Service was awesome. One of my friends has dietary restrictions and they went out of their way to accommodate her. Food was excellent. Only negatives were that they ran out of scallops after we had ordered so we had to change our entrees. They compensated with a complimentary dessert for each of us. One of my friends had a steak that was too rare and had to be sent back and soup that was lukewarm. On the other hand the oyster appetizer was scrumptious, as were the grits, brussel sprouts and mahi mahi special.
We just got engaged and they were happy to have us celebrate with them. My sister in law called and asked them to have roses and champagne at the table when we arrived. They had the table ready. They provided a nice table. The food was good even though we were still trying to soak in the engagement . Lori was our waitress and she was always smiling and offered to take pictures. She made sure the champagne kept flowing. The manager came over and took picture and printed it out and framed it. The hotel is also beautiful. I loved the classic bathrooms. Definitely worth checking out bathrooms even if you do not need to use it.
Bread and wine was immediate to our table, but It took 20 minutes for our salads. Once our salad plates were removed, it took a further 45 minutes to get a 6oz and a 10oz fillet to our table. The restaurant was only half full so maybe the kitchen had to butcher the cow out back. Whatever the reason, no recompense was offered us other than one “I’m sorry” from our waiter. A very poor experience for a $400 meal for my wife and me. We will not be beck anytime soon due to this poor kitchen service.
I was humiliated over this business meal as the location was my recommendation. After a very lengthy wait, when our meal finally arrived it was beyond cold. It was by far the worst meal & service I’ve ever experienced in my 25 year career entertaining customers. This will not only be my last trip to this location, but any of their locations. Beyond disappointed!!
