we had a Valentines dinner planned. Up until a couple days ahead of time I was not aware that the restaurant was being renovated. Tables were out in the atrium area. Overall the service was very good despite the uniqueness of the layout. It would’ve been nice to know that the kitchen and restaurant are being renovated prior to making a reservation. The staff did the best they could to make it a nice experience. The food was very good and at the end of the day and enjoyable night

We chose Capitol Grille to celebrate our daughter’s 18 birthday with a group of her friends. It was absolutely perfect! Glenda, the manager, bent over backwards to accommodate us. The setting of being in hotel veranda added to the experience along with the great food. So thankful we chose there for this special occasion!

Very disappointed that our mesl was not in the Grille as it is undergoing renovations. You should have had a disclaimer stating that fact snd we would have eaten at another restaurant.

The whole dinner was honestly disappointing and not comparable to other Capitol Grille restaurants we’ve been to. They were definitely running on a skeleton crew and it took a long time to even get drinks from the start. Our waiter and other staff were quite nice. The decor was outdated, it was very quiet and sparse inside as well, which all made us realize why we were able to get right in that evening. The bone-in ribeye was possibly the worst steak I’ve been served because it was so chewy that I did not even finish. The sides were very good, but the dessert selection was poorly chosen in my opinion. They only had 3 to choose from and nothing that was even chocolate. Overall, I feel like I paid too much for a meal that I did not enjoy and that is a bummer.

The surroundings are nice but it’s a large open room. The noise level would be unpleasant if the room was at 100%. Staff is professional. The bar didn’t have one of the vodkas on the menu in stock. The food was above average but not outstanding.

My wife and I visited for our anniversary—the Fried green tomatoes were difficult to cut and eat. My steak was overcooked and presentation was very underwhelming. I’ve had such great experiences at the Dallas Capitol Grill that my expectations were higher. Our server, Ronce was very good.

It was the best birthday experience I’ve ever had. The staff were amazingly pleasant...the valet gentleman was a doll and he and the concierge/receptionist took the best pictures of me! I highly recommend

The service Wes good but the food was average and expensive for the quality. My rib eye was not great and I would not recommend. The scallop dinner was good but a little salty.

Nice historic building and fun to look around.

My wife and I usually seek out great food when we travel. In this case we treated our family to an after Christmas dinner that was extraordinary and memorable. The staff was polite, welcoming, and helpful. The atmosphere left nothing to be desired. Beautiful architecture, tasteful background music, and adequate lighting set the stage for a perfect evening. Jeff our server was perfect.

Among us we had four different entrees, each was fabulous, paired perfectly, and cooked to perfection. Don't miss out on the bread, it is an appetizer but worth every cent.

The bone in ribeye and filet mignon were flavourful and portions did not disappoint. Sides were family style and enough to share. Roasted brussels sprouts and pureed potatoes were incredible. Both the salmon and scallop entrées were paired with sides by the chef and served beautifully. Not a morsel was left over. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone and will most certainly return on my next trip to Nashville.

The restaurant is located in a historic boutique hotel. The ambiance and elegance certainly are part of the experience. We had Christmas morning breakfast. The food was good, however the service was a little disjointed. The wait staff was obviously attentive but it took too long to get our meal or get our servers attention at times. I had to request butter and jam, something other tables received with meal, so in defense of restaurant, maybe a server issue.

I have enjoyed the Capitol Grill on many occasions. I have to assume that the pandemic has reduced the kitchen/bar cooking staff. Our waiter was very professional and helpful. I look forward to a time when the food returns to its higher quality.

Ate here for Thanksgiving 2020. The meals were $75 per person but the portions for each of the four courses were plentiful. The food was really good! The service was a little slow however. Felt like we waited longer than normal between plates. On Thanksgiving the restaurant only served their Thanksgiving meal, but I would return to order off of their regular menu.

We went to the Thanksgiving Buffet at the Capitol Grille in 2019 pre-COVID-19 and it was spectacular for food and value.

The Thanksgiving buffet in 2020 cost $75 per adult person and included either turkey or ham. I would have expected that for the price one could’ve had both the turkey and the ham, both being traditional foods at Thanksgiving. While I understand that with COVID-19, things cannot be the same as they were pre-COVID-19, it still seemed extremely expensive for very little in return.

Very disappointing.

Great atmosphere, very quiet, but good service. Food could be better and more affordable. I wouldn't come back again because there are other Nashville restaurants that provide better food for lower prices. I will commend the great service though.

There was a “situation” that our server explained when I placed a drink order. It caused a significant delay in receiving my drink. The server did not keep his mask above his nose even after I asked him to do so. The place was nice and quiet. The order was incorrect. Steak was dry. Sides were just okay. Overall I wasn’t impressed for the price of the food and drinks. $18.00 for a cocktail.

I ordered an appetizer of shrimp cocktail Caesar salad then a five oz filet with a half pound lobster tail and ended with a piece of coconut cake. The food was average to say the least and I have had more attentive service at the Waffle House. I can not see anything at all special about my meal. How bad can a filet and lobster tail be from a decent restaurant?I can think of better ways to drop 300 for a dinner and have a lot better ambiance and service I would not recommend it

We were looking for a romantic restaurant in downtown Nashville. The Capitol Grille surpassed our expectations!! The ambiance was outstanding. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better! The wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and did not rush us at all. We will definitely go back!!

This was definitely not the typical Capital Grille experience. Partially to blame, I’m sure, is Covid. But, in general, it fell short.

One of the best culinary experiences of my life. The ambiance and class of the early 20th century created a unique atmosphere of comfort and luxury. The food was delightful with each dish paying homage to southern delicacies. The Capitol Grille at the Hermitage Hotel is truly a preserved gem in our great state.

Since moving to middle Tennessee 30 years ago we have always considered the Capital Grille as our favorite and this time was no exception. The room is breathtaking, the service is outstanding and the food is delicious. I do wish today's younger generation understood what "smart casual" means. It isn't bluejeans and untucked shirts which the majority wore.

We had excellent service, which is very important. Our server gave us a delicious wine suggestion. It was something different than I had ever had in the past. I was grateful for that. I love trying new things. The food was unbelievable. I hate I didn’t have room for dessert. Maybe I’ll start with dessert next time. One of our favorite restaurants when we are in town. Fantastic!!

My wife and I stayed at the Hermitage and dined at Capital Grille. The service was impeccable. We collect a little wine so we took a couple of special bottles. From the Host to Sommelier to the Chef the service was outstanding. The Sommelier was there as needed. We asked both he and the chef to experience the wine with us and they helped with pairings and heightened the experience. The foie gras was as good as we have ever had. The filet and scallops were perfectly cooked as were the sides. The toffee pudding desert was the perfect ending to a great night.
