Capitol Grille - Hermitage Hotel - Nashville
Oak Bar: 11:00am - 11:00pm Sunday - Thursday and 11:00am - 12:00am Friday and Saturday
The Capitol Grille never fails to deliver an exceptional meal in an elegant atmosphere. Most of the vegetables and meats are raised on their own Glen Leven farm in Middle Tennessee and the results
are fresh and satisfying. Being located in the only 5 Star hotel in Nashville (The Hermitage), this restaurant lives up to the Old World charm of its surroundings.
Jeff, our waiter, provided excellent service. He explained that their menu was "somewhat ala cart" so no surprises there.
Timing was at just the right pace. He was attentive but did not hover. My sister did not like her dish, although I had the shrimp and grits and it was divine! When she expressed to Jeff that she wasn't thrilled, he immediately offered to replace her meal. Wow! That doesn't happen all of the time.
Although it's a little pricey, you definitely get what you pay for! Will certainly return.
Side Note: If you have an opportunity to check out the men's restroom, do so! It's like stepping back into the 1920's!
This lovely restaurant paid so much attention to detail. Top notch and just pure class. It is hard to find fine dining anymore, and this restaurant was superb.
Capitol Grille was an outstanding, upscale restaurant that exceeded expectations and provided an exceptional date for my wife and me to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We’ve already said we plan as long as we live in the Nashville area to eat there every anniversary. We both ordered the 5-oz fillet - phenomenoally cooked. We both enjoyed the roasted asparagus, the collard greens, and the fried okra. We also had an outstanding chocolate cake and cherry cobbler. Only remote “negative” is it is pricey, but for a few times a year, it’s totally worth it! We’ll be back!
It's a perfect place to go for a great meal and the service is outstanding. It's evident that they want to provide a relaxing and enjoyable experience with outstanding meals and drink options.
Very nice ambience with attentive and friendly staff. The Sunday lunch menu is unfortunately a brunch menu and hence the choice is limited. However, the food is plentiful, tasty and filling.
This is a beautiful dining room for Nashville’s only 5 star hotel. The Capital Grill has had ups and downs, this visit was very much an up! The Onion Bisque was beautifully presented and delicious. We shared a Wedge salad which was also served with care. We ordered what amounted to a flank steak that was again cooked to perfection at medium well. Unexpectedly tender. We had the sautéed greens and their version of Mac and cheese. I didn’t know this, but, they had a delightful private label Merlot for a ridiculously low price. We each had a signature cocktail which was again, beautifully presented and generously poured. After all that, we had the sorbet and left full and very satisfied. I really. Appreciated the attention to “sharing a plate”, which some restaurants are loathe to do. A wonderful evening.
Menu changed from the last few times and it was not great
Our waiter was wonderful but we never got our food and had to leave for TPAC performance at 7:30. We were seated before our reservation time of 6:15 but at 7:15 and no food, we had to leave! Very disappointing as I adore the Capital Grille and was looking forward to my onion bisque soup and shrimp and grits.
Always enjoy a wonderful dinner at Capital Grille before our group visits TPAC! Everything was delicious and our server, Lori, took great care of us & made sure we made it to the show on time!
The waiter was extremely friendly and nice he made sure we was fully satisfied with the menu. The food was delicious to the point I wanted more.
Capital Grill never fails to impress me. The service is outstanding, the food delicious!
Everything was wonderful and Lori was our outstanding captain for the evening. Perfect night!
Good food and experience. It’s a bit pricey and I felt the menu was a bit small.
Excellent place to entertain clients.
Service is a little slow, so if you have tickets later in the evening make sure you have at least 90 minutes for your meal. If you want dessert then add 20 more minutes.
Great place for the special celebration - our 35th anniversary.
This restaurant was very overpriced for the extremely limited menu. No background music played. Ribeye was 1/4 fat and could not be eaten. Caesar salad was very, very bland. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Went back to our hotel and ordered room service!
Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent everything. 5 stars.
Great wine list and the beets were just outstanding
Wonderful evening at this restaurant.
The ambience was perfect for aour anniversary dinner. The staff and our server were excellent and so was the food. A perfect choice for a special occasion.
Horrible steak- tough and tasteless.
This is the 2nd time that we have been to this restaurant.. Each time I come to Nashville, I will make sure that I come here again. The food is great, the service is great, and it's a perfect place to have a business dinner at the round table and it is quiet enough that you can talk.
Relaxing Mother’s Day brunch. Thanks!
We try to eat at the Hermitage Hotel Capital Grille several times a year and usually for a special occasion. It is one of the few restaurants that always feels like a treat and not just another meal out. This was the first time we tried Sunday Brunch and it was Mother’s Day. It was without a doubt the best brunch I have ever experienced. Everything I tried was very fresh and prepared exceptionally well. My friend let me try his craft cocktail which was also incredible. A few items that really stood out included the best Mac & Cheese I have ever had and I would put their shrimp, grits, and gravy up against the best of Charleston. The Capital Grille Brunch is truly a treasure in downtown Nashville.
This is a beautiful hotel and our waitress was delightful. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was really good except the shrimp and grits which was so salty that it went uneaten. Our waiter said she had told the chef but he thought it was just right. Our taste buds said no. The sweet onion soup was wonderful and the salads were wonderful as well.
Very disappointing. Our food was lukewarm though the steaks were flavorful. There were only four scallops and the temperature was also cool. The sides were small (though we were warned they only serve 1.5 people). They were all disappointing. Fried okra was tasteless as were the fried green tomatoes. We were trying to get into the “southern spirit” with traditional dishes but were were all quite disappointed. The service was...odd. When we told them (very graciously) that our entrees were all cold, they brought us three huge desserts which were all, like the rest of the dinner, quite mediocre. They were very nice but I’d never recommend this restaurant. The following nights we dined at The Palm Nashville which was beyond amazing and 404 Kitchen which should not be missed. None of us were sure how The Capitol Grille was still in business considering the many outstanding restaurants in Nashville.
The Capitol Grille is, well, a little oversold. Friendly service and a pretty dining room couldn’t overcome the feeling that this restaurant had seen better days. The menu was, in a word, sparse. The wine list was wildly overpriced and not well constructed. And the overall tone of the dining room was subdued. Even the diners seemed subdued. And except for superlative citrus-infused beets, the food was pedestrian. I expected more.
Our experience was impacted substantially by the manager's management of seating. His inability to plan appropriately resulted in our relocation, which wouldn't have been a big deal, however the messaging was not transparent and inaccurate. The reality was that we were displaced to accommodate a large "influential" party that received a substantially different level of service then we did. Our waiter did not poor one glass of wine for us, but broke his arm accommodating the other party. Beautiful setting, favorable food but I walked away feeling dissatisfied. Very disappointing experience for a 5 star restaurant/hotel.
We visited Capital Grille on a Saturday night to celebrate a marriage. We arrived 30 minutes early and the staff immediately set up a table for us with minimal wait. The entire staff was professional, knowledgeable and attentive. Our table sampled a variety of dishes and we were all favorably impressed. I ordered the 10 oz prime filet. It was cooked to my exact specifications and was truly one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The sides were well prepared, and the desserts were outstanding. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Nashville.
Fabulous evening. Ambient lighting could be lower and its a little loud for fine dining
Food was fine. Ambiance fine. Waiter was ok but not very personable.
Celebrating with friends
Overall was disappointed - ambience was not what I expected - room is bright and noise level high. Thought food was over priced. $50.00 for halibut on a bed of corn - the kale salad was disappointing. Half bottle of champagne was $64.00 for 2 splits, not a half bottle.
Overall pretty good
Good drink selection and nice ambiance
We wanted to get a nice dinner for 4 before the Predators Playoff game. Learning that they raise their own beef, we had to try their Steak, and it was one of the best steaks I have had the pleasure of eating. The server was amazing, and he was definitely a player in the success of this dinner. The drinks were great, the sides were great, and while the predators lost the game, because of Capitol Grille, the night overall stayed in the win column. Thanks
Great place, fantastic service, and perfect for taking Clients.
Marco is special and makes a wonderful first impression. Thomas is a true professional. He cares for each of his customers. Fabulous place to eat and enjoy friends around your table.
