Located on the corner of 11th and H street NW, Capitol City Brewing Co. opened its doors in 1992 as the first brew pub in our nation's capitol since prohibition, thus giving its citizens and its many visitors the freedom to enjoy some of the finest hand-crafted beer in the country. On the front of our menu is the symbol of freedom, the Lady Liberty, a statue found atop our namesake, the United States Capitol.

Nestled in the heart of Washington's rejuvenated downtown, this location has become a local landmark for celebrating great beer and food with family and friends. We have always taken great pride in our beer so come in and enjoy a cold pint of our very best and match it to one of the many menu selections tailored to the brews we serve.

Capitol Brewing was a typical brewery: craft beer, bar food, lots of people. IF we had been seated at a table for dinner I may have enjoyed the experience better. As it was, they were overbooked and Open Table was to blame. It seems that Open Table did not block reservations to the restaurant once it was notified that they could take no more reservations. I think you need to fix that! That affected my dining experience and those of a lot of other people. It isn't the first time I've heard of this happening. Someone is at fault and someone needs to remedy the situation. I worked all day and was looking forward to a nice dinner and I had 2 options: try to find a seat at the bar and have dinner or find another place to eat at 8pm on a Saturday night in Washington DC. I picked the lesser of 2 evils and ate at the bar. Check your system Open Table!

In town for a volleyball tournament and on a Friday night. We were seated upstairs and asked to be moved downstairs for better atmosphere — staff was kind and accommodating. Also changed the TV station so we could watch the Olympics. Great drinks and food and very very nice people!!

Fun bar atmosphere with good beer. we each had flights so we could sample a few different brews. The service started out good, but the waiter disappeared half way through the meal. He did not bring our second round of drinks, we finally asked another server who had to get them for us and he never checked back with us which was upsetting as my daughter's entree was missing an ingredient. Started out as a fun night, but ended up disappointing.

Horrible service. We had a reservation and it still took them 30 minutes to seat us. Once we’d been sitting for about 20 minutes the waiter finally arrived and he didn’t even bring menus, we had to specifically ask for them. Once we ordered food took about an hour. Food was very mediocre but the drinks were good.

Great spot for craft beer and a lively atmosphere. Too noisy for conversation, but that's part of the fun. Food was OK - not really a foodie sort of place, but plenty of variety and something for everyone. Excellent service!

This was a solid spot for a casual evening dinner, with a few board members. It was incredibly loud, but didn't interfere with our table's conversation or enjoyment. Good spot.

This was my first time going to this restaurant. A friend was staying across the street, which influenced the decision to go. We went at dinner time on a Friday night. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated right away. The food was very good and our waitress properly attentive. Food was served promptly and was a good temperature.

Located a block from Metro Center Station, it is convenient for the Metro dependent. I don’t think I would drive there, as I am unsure about the parking situation.

I would gladly go there again when I am in that part of DC.

Loved this place! Only thing that annoyed me was i made a reservation a week in advance and they tried to give us a terrible table up against a railing in the bar area. They did move us right away when we complained tho and manager was awesome. Food was terrific! Fast and delish and reasonably priced.

Terrible service and the food was barely edible. Waited 15 minutes at our table to get a waiteress. Don't go for brunch! Crab cake Benedict was a disaster and the bottomless mimosas were pure orange juice. We inquired about the contents of the drinks and we were told that the mimosas were half and half but they looked to be as dark as freshly squeezed orange juice.

The food and service was outstanding. I use a wheelchair and had enough space at the table I was put at to move freely. The server was exceptional. She was pleasant and patient. I will recommend you to everyone.

The places has a lot of potential but the issue with the heat not working properly to away from being able to enjoy the restaurant. Its was beyond cold in the restaurant, the waiter tried to give his best explanation but it was not his fault. Basic the heating unit is to small for the restaurant

The server Paul was excellent, sadly, the food wasn’t. The ribs were tender, but the crab cakes needed a different chef. We reordered the special to replace the crab cakes, which was a mixed grill. It appears that the kitchen staff can cook meat but not seafood—the shrimp were over grilled and burned, so there was nothing except a burnt taste.

The other staff/servers were kind, caring, and attentive as was our exceptional server Paul. Ask for him and beware ordering seafood!

Food was okay. A little bland. Service was slow and it wasn't busy. I’m hoping the server was off his game, and not usually that bad. Overall atmosphere was good.

We arrived at the time of our reservation and were seated immediately. The server was friendly but might have been new as he was unable to tell us the house wine label, or if the homemade root beer had caffeine. He didn't even know they offered home made root beer until my son asked for it.
My son ordered the kids macaroni and cheese with fruit, my husband ordered the crab cake platter and I ordered a salad with seared tuna. The food was served quickly despite the restaurant being quite busy. My son's macaroni and cheese was obviously kraft or an equivalent. My husband's crab cakes were over seasoned and dry. I removed the tuna from my salad as it didn't taste right, it looked perfect but it was just "off". The salad itself was good and I enjoyed the wasabi dressing.
While I could have said something to the waiter, I felt it wasn't worth the trouble. He only checked on us once and seemed to be more interested in flipping the table.

We had a 6:00 reservation. We received our first drink at 6:30 and didn’t see our waiter for another hour. All of our glasses were empty and no one ever came by to ask us for a refill. We ordered our food at 6:35 and at 7:40 still had nothing. When we asked about it someone brought out a drink that one of our party had been waiting in for 30 minutes, however it was the wrong drink...and still no food. We ended up leaving after an hour and 45 minutes and all we had to show from it was a single drink per person. We went someplace across the street and had great food and service in a very timely manner. When we told the manager that were leaving and why, he looked at us and shook his head. Very disappointed.

Not a great experience. Though the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, our server disappeared for long periods of time. Drinks were slow to come out, one of our guests orders a vodka tonic - tonic water was flat even after remaking the drink. I cancelled my second beer after waiting more than 20 minutes for it to come. Burgers were good, but the fish tacos had one minuscule finger-sized piece of dried out fish.

Food seems to be an afterthought at Capitol City. First, the wait staff could not explain with any confidence what was in the dishes..... for example, why aren't the crab cakes listed on the menu as gluten free? And those crab cakes were poor, much too much shell in there. We were with a couple of teenage boys. When they don't finish their food it is a bad sign. Finally got to the brownie dessert and needed a knife to cut the brownie! Cardboard. Probably a great place to have a beer and watch a game. Don't waste your time as a dinner destination.
