Capitol City Brewing Company - Downtown
Nestled in the heart of Washington's rejuvenated downtown, this location has become a local landmark for celebrating great beer and food with family and friends. We have always taken great pride in our beer so come in and enjoy a cold pint of our very best and match it to one of the many menu selections tailored to the brews we serve.

An old friend and I got together to catch up here for dinner. Neither of us had ever been and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the place, and variety of food. We tried the calamari, fish & chips, and one of the burgers. I don’t think we could’ve gone wrong with ordering other items on the menu!
Nice atmosphere but we’re stuck in a corner even though we had reservations and it wasn’t crowded. I ordered the pesto shrimp and got a good size chunk of plastic in my food. Server didn’t seem very apologetic but did get the entree free. Still, wasn’t the experience I was hoping for
Food was good. The beer I drank was Amber Waves and it was fantastic! I was visiting DC on business trip. I really wanted to visit Capital Brewing so I could try a beer brewed in DC. I collect brewery stickers from places I’ve visited and was disappointed that capitol City discontinued making stickers. They also did not have a take out menu so I left without anything to remember my visit there except memory and I picture I took of the sign. Disappointing.
Great place to stop at the end of a long day of touristing.
Excellent food, ambiance, and service but grilled cheese was really dry.
Great atmosphere, large beer selection, good food, and excellent service. We had a great time, and will go back again before we leave DC!
Great place to eat and grab a drink. Reasonable prices for dc.
Positive experience except for the noise level. It was extremely loud.
My son’s graduation from RPI
Great Food, Great Beer, Great Service at a reasonable price.
Great beer, great food, great service at a reasonable price!!!
Nothing special. Food was costly and nothing to speak about. Service was not the best and. Ever was ok, again nothing to speak about.
Food was horrible! Worst calamari I’ve ever had! All new items were not recommended by server so I had a chicken salad & it was plain, underdressed & average at best.
Just grabbed lunch with a friend. In and out in an hour - perfect for work lunch.
This was the best restaurant we went to in all of DC. We had an amazing waiter who was very attentive and helpful. I would recommend this place 1000000 times.
Convenient spot for a comfortable business lunch. The Reuben is the Best!
Convenient location and reliably good food with fairly good service.
Very dirty in the bathroom the glasses came cracked we had no silverware and the to go food came before the dinner.
Very reasonably priced for the location. Good value. Good food
Stopped in for a late dinner on a Tuesday night (9pm). Very crowded but no problem with our reservation. Great beer list, not just pub food - the menu was great with something for everyone. Salads were outstanding.
Not a place I would consider joining friends for a fun evening trying local brews. Cold entree, dried out chicken, very inattentive staff who were all gathered around the drink station. Very disappointed that so many positive reviews had us fooled.
Service was very bad. Our waiter was not attentive at all to us.
The hostess up front was very friendly! We got seated right away because we made reservations.
A definite must because this place is busy! The food was fantastic. I had the salmon, my son had the Tuns and my husband had the jambalaya! Added bonus, out waiter Al was the best! We were celebrating my husband‘s birthday and he brought him a hot fudge brownie for dessert !
We made our reservation and was seated immediately. Our waiter was so friendly and after we placed our order, waited almost no time before our food came out. They even apologized for the wait and we were stocked because we thought it was super fast. A large school group came in right beside us, but it never detracted from our service. Definitely was a nice night.
Prompt seating, good service. Nice variety of unique entrees. Salmon was so tender it melted in your mouth. Steaks grilled to perfection. Large selection of local brews served ice cold. Excellent atmosphere for family and friends. Waitress made our DC stay worth it. Brownie dessert is chocolate heaven. Recommend it for a nice relaxing end to a day of sight seeing.
Good food. Somewhat attentive waiter.
Great dining experience and even better food! The decorations were amazing. Would definately recommend.
We were a conference and wanted to visit with old friends. While the food and service were very good we had a hard time visiting because the music was so loud. We would have had another cocktail but left to visit in a quieter environment. Our waiter was excellent.
Decent, reasonably priced fare, especially for downtown. I abstained from the beer, so no opinions there.
Service was terrible. Waitress was friendly but extremely inattentive. Ordered a drink, waited 15 minutes for said drink and then waited another 10 minutes for waitress to come back to order food. The restaurant was less than half full. Ordered dinner which was not overly expensive, but quality left a bit to be desired. Had the Greek chicken wrap, quality of ingredients were good however chicken was very very dry and over cooked. Our server stopped by and i asked for another drink, which i never received. She came back 20 minutes later and asked if we wanted the check and I said yes, but still hadn’t received my drink. We ended up paying and leaving. Not sure I’d return.
The person who sat us at our table used napkins from the previous guests to wipe our table. When I asked that he clean it he just used the same dirty napkins again.
Food was excellent-but with a gross table it didn’t hit the mark
Very typical tap house with decent food but ok service.
My husband and I both found a hair on our hamburger plates!! 🤢
Old Bay Seasoning wings were yummy! Service was great, especially for a busy bar night. It was standard American fare, but prices were good and happy hour deals were awesome.
Food was okay. Pork was dry on the Carolina and the beer was warm. We were not impressed with our service. They were not busy and our server was very slow. We were done eating and had to wait 20 minutes for a box and our check. On multiple occasions we could see him standing around talking to the kitchen staff and other servers vs. taking care of his customers needs.
Family event. Food and Waitress were outstanding. Long wait for food and check out. Great food choices for all ages.
If using a GPS, it does not take you to the correct location.
The food was average and the beer was warm. I would not recommend this place. They only had 5 beers to choose from and they were out of one of them.
I’ve eaten here before and the food and drinks have always been good. This time however the beer wasn’t cold and the wait staff was terrible. The waitress was poor and the server appeared to be from the morgue. I’ll try it again but I’ll sit in a different section.
They lost my reservation and hostess seemed very tired.
Read some mixed reviews of Capital City Brewing so figured we'd give it a shot and see what we thought. The beer was a little lackluster (they had decent Black Lager but their IPA needs some serious work) but the food was solid. We really enjoyed the predinner baked Pretzels and my burger was pretty good. I would say it say its more like standard pub fair with above average quality. We had great service while we were there and I think most of the credit should go to the the staff. Overall I would say it was alright. It won't knock your pants off but its certainly not a bad option to have when choosing a dinner spot.
