What Insiders Are Saying
If you think cider is lame, you’ve never been to Capitol Cider. It’s one of our favorite places for a casual hangout in Capitol Hill.
The ambiance is terrific, the food was very good and the house band and jam session was excellent!
We had just enjoy Wicked at The Paramount and were looking for something new and gluten free. We have been GF for a long time so we are very able cooks and bakers and are often disappointed by GF restaurants. That was not the case with Capitol Cider. The food was delicious!
This is a No Fail place to eat gluten free in a great atmosphere with amazing service. I reserved a tiny intimate table for my wedding- and it was everything I had hoped for.
Excellent food and drinks. I recommend the wink and a shrub drink. So delicious!
My reservation was around 10:30pm, it felt unessecary to make a reservation since the place didn't seem full at all. We were told to go downstairs (why?) to be served.
I had ordered the prawns and pasta. My plate was lukewarm, and the prawns themselves must have been old. A very fishy aroma came off them while exhaling on the food when I was putting it in my mouth. Fresh seafood is not supposed to be fishy. I almost gagged on my last few bites of food but still ate it against my better judgement.
Thankfully I didn't get sick. Unfortunately this is the worst resturaunt experience I've ever had as far as the food quality goes.
The place has a cool vibe and a the most robust offering of ciders I’ve ever seen. The menu included a glossary which proved to be quite helpful when making a cider selection that will suit your palate. Waiter was extremely knowledgeable about their offerings.
Everything is gluten free! Need I say more? Their selection is also impressive for an entirely gf restaurant.
As a person with dietary restrictions, it is rare to find a restaurant that places so much care in its menu and food preparations. Not only is the kitchen a safe environment for those with allergies and intolerances, but the incredibly knowledgeable staff and magnificent cuisine are top of the line. The fried Brussels Sprouts, Burger, and Rhubarb Cider were phenomenal. I would highly recommend this to anyone, regardless of having gluten/peanut allergies or not. Thank you, Capitol Cider - we'll be back!
I Lobe that the entire menu is gluten free AND offers great variety. I had a cider and the flank steak salad.. the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. We’ll be beach!
Brunch included a crossword puzzle to complete for a free cinnamon roll.
The cinnamon roll and egg in a hole were delicious.
Great food, amazing cider selection, and outstanding service.
This was a wonderful find. We were visiting from Portland and needed a central place to meet friends for brunch. The ambiance was fantastic. Our server was friendly and helpful. We didn't need gluten free- but it was nice that the whole menu was in case that's useful to your party. The food was mostly quite good- though the $8 cinnamon roll was hard like a brick and what people think of when they think of gluten free baking. Too bad, because GF baking can be delicious. Overall we'd recommend this place and would love to go back when the game room is open in the downstairs bar.
Evening out with dinner before a concert.
The food and cider was outstanding. Service is super helpful but doesn’t hover. The rigatoni with shrimp and fish and chips were both delicious. Lemon dessert was yummy too! I would love to go back again and try more dishes!
Awesome - great food and live music.
Everything being gluten free and peanut free was amazing.
This is hard...we’ve been going to Capital Cider since it opened, usually for brunch or lunch. My daughter and I always get the fried chicken sandwich and my husband usually gets the burger- and we love it! Sadly every time we’ve taken guests the food has been just okay for dinner. Then we went for brunch on Mother’s Day and ordered our usual. The bun was stale, inedible and the fried chicken was thin and dry. If this had been our first time at the restaurant we wouldn’t have returned. I rarely write reviews but I hope this helps get Capital Cider back on track. 🤞
Very good! Best gluten free restaurant my wife and I have found in the Seattle area.
The bread used for the toast still sucks. It's dense, tasteless and very bland.
I am always suspect of the non-GF thing... However, this place was rad.
Service was terrible-food overpriced and mediocre at best.
Dinner took forever. No bread service. Server told us that only half the grill was working. Ask for ice water and it took forever to get it. The restaurant was not full. Only a few tables were occupied. Nice theme put needs work in the food and service areas. Has potential to be a great place to eat and hang out.
We go for brunch because it's one of the few restaurants that is completely gluten-free that also serves meat products. Unfortunately, their prices have been rising dramatically lately, and the value is getting very questionable at this point. 2 small pieces of fish and 2 cups of french fries for $20??????? WTF? Also, the new bread they're serving is putrid. It's more like melba toast than bread - dense and pretty flavorless.
Our group enjoyed everything and we were able to accommodate all of our diverse dietary needs.
We go to Capitol Cider pretty regularly because it’s a gluten-free establishment. One close friend cannot eat food even cooked in a pot where things with gluten have been cooked. For those with serious celiac disease, this place is a godsend! Great food, lots of variety, vegetarian and meat options, and, of course, the cider specialties. The only negatives are that the wine choices are pretty limited (but adequate) and the noise level is a little on the high side.
Three cheers for a restaurant that is Gluten and peanut free AND serves delicious food. The service was pleasant but slow. The food made it worth the wait.
We drove an hour and a half into the city to eat their gluten free food! We’re from Oklahoma and the food was incredible. Makes me want to move to Seattle!
My grilled cheese was good, but the fish&chips were tiny portions and not worth $20. Our waiter was rude when we were very accommodating to make our orders easier. I would not go again due to our service (or lack there of).
$20 for Fish & Chips????? You use to serve THREE pieces of fish and it was about $15. THAT was worth it. $20 for less fish? Also, the scrambled eggs lately are overcooked.
Going downhill and it's a shame.
Service was absolutely awful. I saw my server maybe twice the entire meal and then she disappeared. Table next to me had same issue. We had to hunt her down just to pay and leave and that took 20min. Food was decent and loved that everything was gluten free. Quite pricey though and online menu didn’t match the menu they had that night.
Hostess was very nice. The service was not very good. Took so long for the soup to arrive we had to cancel it. Server then basically prioritized all others first. Food was simply average
The new bread sucks! It LOOKS nice, but it's tasteless and has a "melba toast" consistency, which is more of a biscuit or cracker (meant for babies teething). The texture is very UN-Bread like.
Please go back to Franz or another brand you used to use.
The SCRAMBLED eggs yesterday were VERY HARD scrambled and seemed more like a flat fritatta than scrambled eggs.
Always a good spot for dinner. It’s a bit too loud at times but food and service are excellent.
I have celiac disease so a gluten free kitchen is a real treat for me. Come here every time I am in town and enjoy the comfy elevated bar food. My non celiac friend had a great steak and I had one of the best gluten free fish and chips.
The new bread from Essential Bakery is AWFUL! It LOOKS fine & seems to toast well, but the taste & texture are simply putrid. Please go back to Franz or whichever brand you were using before, PLEASE!
We arranged a reservation for 8pm but did not get seated until 8:45, which is not ideal. Food was good though, and the screaming undead skull bartender makes a very good martini.
Gluten free heaven
Great ambiance with academy art on the walls for a very fun twist on a traditional feel. Service was solid but lacking in a few details. Food was very good from start to finish. On the traditional pub end of the spectrum, but very well executed. Would definitely return and recommend.
Our server was excellent & knew the menu well. Accommodated all of our tables crazy food allergies & requests. Will be back if in the are.
Louis was amazing.
I came here to celebrate my recent promotion with some friends. I had more friends show up than was expected, which was a burden on the staff with how busy they were, but they worked hard to accommodate and I greatly appreciated it. The cider and mead selections are phenomenal. Food was delicious. It's also a huge bonus that all the food is gluten free, since we had people that cannot eat anything with gluten. I like coming here and will be back another time.
