The Capital Grille - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
We very much enjoyed our dinner and experience at Capital Grille, but three things weren’t so good: the green beans weren’t cooked enough, the Brussel sprouts were over cooked (too charred) and they put my husband’s leftover piece of filet in the same take home box as the green beans (unsanitary!). Overall it was a good evening, we liked our waiter and I appreciated the dessert on the house.
Very appreciative of the attention given to our book club! Under unusual circumstances (family emergency), the restaurant was fantastic! While supporting our desire to be in a quiet location, they set us up in the boardroom. Then when two of us had to leave, they accommodated the remainder of the group and wrote off the items we had incurred. We will definitely be back as we have every year as our special treat. 5 stars *
Jason was outstanding. Yes, the food was amazing and checking out the drink menu on an iPad was pretty cool. But the thing I was most impressed with was Jason’s ability to read our table and see that, unlike the table next to us, we wanted to extend our special Saturday night out. The courses were appropriately timed and the specials were to die for. I wanted to see what the buzz was about at Capital Grille and I found out. Great job guys!
Our server went out of his way to make the birthday celebration for my husband and his friend extra special. We were provided complimentary desserts and complimentary champagne for toasting. It was a lovely evening with excellent food and service. We will be back.
We. Came to celebrate my husband’s Birthday. My husband and son both loved the special for the evening. My husband had the surf and turf and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The choices for a side were all outstanding. It was hard to choose one - but I’m glad we only chose one since two would have been too much. (Go for the green beans.) The fish was wonderful. Our daughter had the salmon and loved it.
As always, the wine list is outstanding / we decided to have drinks instead - perfect Martinis.
Gavin was our waiter. His timing was outstanding. The “Birthday plate” for my husband was enough. We were full after having our dinner.
Third time there! Hasn’t disappointed yet. The halibut is outstanding. Also have had the Oscar filet.....to die for. Chris was our server twice. We I’ll ask for him again. He is great at his job. I am a fan, I even like their Mac n cheese better than jeff Ruby’s. 🤫
Beautiful elegant atmosphere. Steaks are really good (not as good as Ruby but a close second) and their sides are to die for (better than Ruby’s!). Lobster truffle Mac is amazing, the Brussels sprouts are th best I’ve ever had anywhere and their mushrooms were also the best. Everyone raves about the mashed potatoes. I definitely recommend!
First of all, the food was excellent, however, the service was way below par for a restaurant of this level. It was Christmas Eve but they seemed tp be way under staffed. It took at least 10 minutes for someone to approach us after being seated. Another 10 minutes to take a drink order after leaving an iPad like device displaying the drink selections. We received our food in a timely manner and then waited so long to get our leftovers boxed that the waiter had a complimentary dessert sent to our table because he realized that the service was so slow. There was even a long wait to get the dessert. Finally, there was a 20 minute delay in getting our car from valet. There were several angry patrons waiting for cars in the lobby.
This place is always on my list of go-to, consistently good restaurants. This time I was disappointed. Since it was Christmas Eve, I should give it a pass - but I can’t. This is where decent restaurants should shine...still put out excellent food when all hell is breakin* loose. It wasn’t I’ll-never-go-back bad, but two steaks were WAY undercooked and the waiter was dismissive/put out by us asking for correct temperature. I think he thought he was working at Le Bernardin, not a chain steak house. Ick.
My recommendation is go here, just not on Christmas Eve
Absolutely fantastic Christmas Eve dinner. We spent several Christmas Eve dinners at Eddie Merlot’s, but the service has been horrible the past two years, so we opted for a change of scenery—best decision we made during the holiday season. We will definitely return. The service staff, and especially our server Jeremy, was top notch. The food was fantastic, steaks were tender and well prepared and the “Oscar” topping had loads of crab. The complimentary brussel sprouts were phenomenal and the chocolate cake with port infused cherries is not to be missed.
We dine at Capital Grill fairly often. This was our worst experience ever. Our waiter, Michael , was at the table only twice. He took our order and our bill. We had to flag down waitstaff when the swordfish was undercooked and cold. It took 15 minutes for the fish to return to the table. The rest in our party was finished. The manager delivered the reheated fish and said it would be removed from our tab. The bill came.... and the swordfish was on it. We dined at the Precinct last weekend. Capital Grill has to step up their game to be competitive in Cincinnati. Their prices are way to high for less than stellar service.
