The Capital Grille - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
We had a nice dinner for my husband's birthday and the small touches were really nice. They had birthday confetti on the table with a handwritten card. They also gave him free dessert and because it was the day after Valentine's Day they gave us champagne and a rose for me. Very nice special touches. Larry's filet special was delicious and super tender - he ordered mid-rare and it was a little more on the rare side. I ordered the 15 year aged ribeye mid-rare and mine was more medium. So I think those two items were a little off but both still tasted good. The au gratin potatoes were delicious. The asparagus was a little under done. The crab cocktail appetizer is not to be missed if you like crab!
Wife's filet with lump crab was incredible-would only come back for this item. I got a $50 NY Strip and it tasted like a steak from Walmart. Tough and didn't taste like $50 to be completely honest... and I would never tell the staff that I didn't like it-not my style... but be aware for an Amstel light it's $7.50 each... Very disappointing on my end for Valentine's Day. The best part was how happy my wife was though. She had an amazing meal.
The food was great as usual. We like that we can get this quality cuisine without going downtown to Morten's or Jeff Ruby's. Our server 'Rose' made it extra special as she had command knowledge of all things Capital Grille and she had the intangibles that made us feel extra special!
I was completely annoyed when I asked if their salmon was wild caught and they assured me it was then I received it and it absolutely was not. The server had no clue what she was talking about. She said oh sometimes they dye it. I explained to her they never dye it to look farm raised when it's wild caught. She said she worked at another restaurant and it looked the same. What?!? I expected much more.
Fabulous food and fantastic service. We had one issue with service, when the server sent us home with the wrong "doggie bag", but the manager made it right when I called them the next day. Regardless of this unusual hiccup, I would highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Customer service was wonderful, the food was over salted and the salmon at $36 a plate was undercooked and slimy halfway trough out because of it....I was presented with options to make amends but I decided to just make due and paid and left not having to pay for the salmon of course.....only the food was the issue. ...Their attention to take care of me was great....would go back for a second attempt...
I ordered my steak rare and it came out medium at best. Normally I would just eat the steak but since this is a fairly expensive restaurant I decided to send it back. It took some time for my new steak arrived and it was cooked correctly but again with the place this expensive I would've expected the manager to come apologize. If this were outback I would've been happy I was just expecting more.
Always a great experience! Enjoyed meeting Greg and seeing Chris and Justin again. Justin is a great find at the bar--depth of knowledge about cocktails and history of cocktails. Rapidly becoming our regular place for anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions.
Capital Grille is a classic steakhouse in every sense of the word. Elegant modern decor that is still very comfortable. Feels like a fancy restaurant should. The steaks are huge. The sides are rich and delicious. Dessert was also great. Our server (I think her name was Valerie) was outstanding and attentive. She worked hard to keep us on track to get us out in time for our special event. Nothing about this place is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for, so as long as you're prepared for a big bill, you'll have a great time.
The President/COO of our company flew in from Chicago. He's a tough customer on a tight schedule. We needed lunch service for three people completed in 45-minutes. Kudos to Chris, Sadie and our amazing server, Evan, for a flawless execution. At the end of our meal, the boss remarked that it was the best service he's received in 5-years. Well done, everyone.
The KONA crusted steaks are typically top notch. The strip steak was delicious and flavorful but the bone in ribeye left a little to be desired. Not flavorful, tasted like a steak we would pick up at the grocery and grill at home. The rest of the meal was delicious.
Having dined at Capital Grille in other locations, I found this one to be exceptional! The service was excellent. The wine choices were very nice. We tried different sides, Lobster Mac n Cheese was thumbs-up, steaks done perfectly. A really nice evening. Rose was wonderful helping with wine choices. Or maybe...it's just the kindness and friendliness of the folks in the Midwest. I will be bringing friends here again when I'm in Cincinnati.
One of our family favorites. Always a great experience. Consistently exceptional food & service. Stacey, in particular, goes above & beyond to make sure our allergy needs & special requests are clearly communicated to your chef who is very accommodating. Great for birthdays & special occasions. Kids tenderloin with fries is a great value. Love the bar scene too for date night.
