The Capital Grille - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
My dad wanted to take my husband and me to lunch as a thank you for what we do to keep him in his home. (He’s 93.) We were able to grab a table in the sun room, so he could hear. They have always been most accommodating.
We all loved our food. And the service was perfect.
Went to Capital Grille again for Thanksgiving. There were a couple of glitches - but let's just say that the manager Chris more than took care of them. Everything ended up very good and we will definitely be back soon - the food at Capital Grille is always excellent!
The dining experience is always exceptional. Very professional with a comfortable atmosphere. Staff is knowledgeable, courteous and sincere in making everything just right. Manager was warm and asked if there was anything we needed. Told him we were in good hands. Wes our server was great. Timing and suggestions fluid. Don’t change anything. Fine dinning with a personal touch. Thank you and see you soon.
We made reservations for Thanksgiving for our family of 6. First of all, we were not seated in the main dining room but a room off the bar that was more of an enclosed patio. It was actually not what I envisioned having visited twice before seated in the main dining room. But, it was good for our family. The Capital Grille is one of these establishments that tends to have people who "over wait" the table. I had to ask for the wine list 3 or 4 times before I actually received it, even though she came to the table that many times to tell me she would bring it later. The sharp edged menu hit my sherry glass and it spilled on the table. At first, she ignored it. Then, second guessing herself, realized that she better at least acknowledge it. Then, later on, she pardoned herself from our table verbally admitting that she must tend to a new table that was just seated. Not professional at all. The rule for a place of this level is "attentive but not intrusive." Having said that, last time I was there we had such a waiter, so they do exist at the Capital Grille. Next time, I would specify the "main dining room" when making reservations on such a holiday. I felt like an unwanted relative eating on the back porch. But, the meal was great, food was superb and the atmosphere always first class.
Went for the first time to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful experience. The confetti and card on the table was so sweet as well as the complimentary delicious dessert. They did a great job making me feel special. And the food was outstanding! We will definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. We had heard about it many times but never tried it. We have a Cincinnati Playhouse subscription and usually go to dinner before the play. I put a note in the reservation regarding the time we needed to be finished up and ready to go and they were very timely so that we weren't rushed nor worried about making it to the play. All four of us enjoyed it. I have a good recipe for Brussels Sprouts, but The Capital Grille sprouts are far and away the best I've ever had - and I lived in Belgium for a few years!
, the steaks and seafood were fantastic great wine selection my date enjoyed her vodka cocktail that was handmade just a great place to unwind have a nice date night being able to talk and conversate and get to know one another I was perfect for that and Barry the waiter was probably the best way to I've had and forever
Great place for all occasions. Been there many times. Only one bad experience, one hour to bclosing time on our anniversary. Not the best waitress and cook staff wanted to leave. However, it is my go to place. I’ll give them a break. That was only one time out of over 40 visits
We were celebrating 2 birthdays. Joe, our waiter, was very attentive, paid attention to detail and even went above to bring French fries along with the Parmesan truffle fries because we had two teenagers in our party. The food was outstanding, the presentation exceptional and the share dishes were delicious. We will certainly be returning! Thank you Capital Grille for a memorable evening!
Our server was very nice and friendly, but may have had too many tables to take care of in the bar. We were seated in the room adjoining the bar. We had to ask the person who brought our dinner to have the server get us a drink. We had coffee after the meal and had to ask the other server in the room to get us more coffee.
Not my favorite - if I had to pick a steakhouse in Cincinnati to go to, Capital Grille would probably be pretty low on my list. My husband and I arrived about an hour before our reservation because we wanted to relax at the bar and have a cocktail beforehand - everything was fine there. However, as soon as our reservation time rolled around we went to the hostess stand and we are both convinced that the "manager" for the hostesses was drunk. She was falling all over the place and none of the 8pm reservations had tables ready - she sat walk-ins too soon. We ended up waiting for about 25 minutes before being seated in a far back room table. (Not the ideal location for our date night that we expected.) The service from there did get better and we received our first round of drinks on the house. The food was fine but the rest of the night just had a bad vibe due to how things started out. The other tables around us seemed to be feeling the same way. The wine at Capital Grille is also WAY overpriced! The bottle that we ended up ordering, knowing it's about 20 retail and is typically about 60 at a restaurant was about 100 here. So overall, if I'm going to be spending that kind of money, I would rather head downtown to Ruby's for better hostess service, a better wine list and prices, and better overall food.
