The Capital Grille - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
Went for the first time to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful experience. The confetti and card on the table was so sweet as well as the complimentary delicious dessert. They did a great job making me feel special. And the food was outstanding! We will definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. We had heard about it many times but never tried it. We have a Cincinnati Playhouse subscription and usually go to dinner before the play. I put a note in the reservation regarding the time we needed to be finished up and ready to go and they were very timely so that we weren't rushed nor worried about making it to the play. All four of us enjoyed it. I have a good recipe for Brussels Sprouts, but The Capital Grille sprouts are far and away the best I've ever had - and I lived in Belgium for a few years!
, the steaks and seafood were fantastic great wine selection my date enjoyed her vodka cocktail that was handmade just a great place to unwind have a nice date night being able to talk and conversate and get to know one another I was perfect for that and Barry the waiter was probably the best way to I've had and forever
Great place for all occasions. Been there many times. Only one bad experience, one hour to bclosing time on our anniversary. Not the best waitress and cook staff wanted to leave. However, it is my go to place. I’ll give them a break. That was only one time out of over 40 visits
We were celebrating 2 birthdays. Joe, our waiter, was very attentive, paid attention to detail and even went above to bring French fries along with the Parmesan truffle fries because we had two teenagers in our party. The food was outstanding, the presentation exceptional and the share dishes were delicious. We will certainly be returning! Thank you Capital Grille for a memorable evening!
Our server was very nice and friendly, but may have had too many tables to take care of in the bar. We were seated in the room adjoining the bar. We had to ask the person who brought our dinner to have the server get us a drink. We had coffee after the meal and had to ask the other server in the room to get us more coffee.
Not my favorite - if I had to pick a steakhouse in Cincinnati to go to, Capital Grille would probably be pretty low on my list. My husband and I arrived about an hour before our reservation because we wanted to relax at the bar and have a cocktail beforehand - everything was fine there. However, as soon as our reservation time rolled around we went to the hostess stand and we are both convinced that the "manager" for the hostesses was drunk. She was falling all over the place and none of the 8pm reservations had tables ready - she sat walk-ins too soon. We ended up waiting for about 25 minutes before being seated in a far back room table. (Not the ideal location for our date night that we expected.) The service from there did get better and we received our first round of drinks on the house. The food was fine but the rest of the night just had a bad vibe due to how things started out. The other tables around us seemed to be feeling the same way. The wine at Capital Grille is also WAY overpriced! The bottle that we ended up ordering, knowing it's about 20 retail and is typically about 60 at a restaurant was about 100 here. So overall, if I'm going to be spending that kind of money, I would rather head downtown to Ruby's for better hostess service, a better wine list and prices, and better overall food.
My wife and I dined here for our anniversary (noted on the reservation). We were greeted with "happy anniversary" by the receptionist. When escorted to our table, there was a Happy Anniversary card and shiny foil hearts sprinkled on the white tablecloth. A nice touch, but that was just the beginning.
Our server Nathan was one of the best we have had anywhere in years. Friendly, personable, courteous, knowledgeable and attentive, without overdoing it.
Every course of our meal was excellent, and we were not rushed at any time. In fact, we spent two hours there. The food was absolutely excellent. Then, after dinner, we were given complimentary champagne, a dessert, and a rose for my wife. Capital Grille could not have made it more special. We will probably celebrate future anniversaries here as well.
This is my favorite Cincinnati restaurant and I go there at least once a month. The food, ambiance and wait staff are excellent! I particularly request, Jason....he's tops! He makes my guests and me feel like we're having a meal at his house. I definitely recommend the Capital Grill....and, not just for special occasions.
We went to Capital Grill 3 years ago to celebrate my wife being 3 years cancer free. It was an over the top experience. The Chef and Manager talked to us. They brought out special drink and dessert. The waitress gave us her card. We got followup emails. So we return to celebrate 5 years cancer free. I told two people that. But this time nothing special except a acrd for "free fried calamari". Great food and service but the special touch not there this time. Sigh. Wonder if management has changed. Or they are just too busy now.
