Found the food to not be good. Had a side salad and the grilled shrimp. The shrimp were over cooked and rather small. The noise level was high making it difficult to easily converse with everyone at the table. Would not personally recommend an individual dine here.
Thought the atmosphere was good and not too loud
It was a Valentine’s Day nightmare dinner. When we arrived I showed the waiter our buy one get one appetizer coupon from the 5 Star app. He went and asked to make sure we could use it. We ordered two appetizers and then the 12oz ribeye to split medium well . It came out rare with blood literally dripping all over the mashed potatoes. He took it back and it was over cooked but we didn’t say anything and ate it. We then asked for the bill. He came and said that they didn’t know how to apply the coupon so the manager walked over and I’m new to Fivestar and the coupon wouldn’t come back up so the manager basically called me a liar saying they don’t even offer that coupon it’s buy one appetizer get one half off . So I had to be wrong well okay . So then after he left I finally figured out how to get the coupon back . So I called him back over and showed him the coupon at this time he asks for my debit card which he had never given back to me. My husband was in the restroom and I told him that he never gave me my credit card back which again he acted like I was lying and said he did give it to me. I told him no I’m sorry but I’m wearing a dress and I have no pockets . So then he leaves again then returns with my credit card . Then I’m looking at the bill and notice the waiter has charged us for a salad that came with the entree so I called him back over and he took it off. He did say he was giving us a be our guest coupon to return and the meal would be on him then when we left I looked at the gift it was for only $30 . Which I believe since they totally ruined our Valentines dinner he should have compt our whole dinner right then and there plus given us something to return. Thirty dollars will not even cover the steak we got our bill was $60 so if we wouldn’t have had the coupon our meal would have been about $75. So what is $30 going to do not sure I ever want to go back anyways !! I wish I would have took a picture of the bloody plate and steak it was awful!! 😳😭
My family of four had reservations and we were seated upon arrival. Antoine our waiter seemed new, but he didn’t disappoint. He kept our glasses full and constantly made sure our table was good.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner before we attended a production of The Wizard of Oz. We were quickly seated. The server was attentive. We had a side of bread for our appetizer. It was crusty on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside. My husband had a ribeye that was cooked to a perfect medium along with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I had the Fish and Tails entree. It was scrumptious! The fish filet was lightly battered. The homemade cheese grits were good. The tasso and andouille cream sauce with fried crawfish tails served over the fish filet and grits was yummy. I am really glad I took our waiter’s recommendation for my dinner selection. The only thing my husband and I wished would have been different was the noise level. It was loud. It was hard to have a quiet conversation. However, we will go back again because of the great food and convenience to downtown attractions, and hopefully, we will have a less noisy experience.
This is the 4th time I've been to Capital City Grill. And the 4th time I've been disappointed.
Let me be clear-- the front of the house could not have been nicer, attentive, and concerned. They demonstrated a desire to please. The problem is food out of the kitchen. All 4 times I've eaten there, it takes about 30-45 minutes to get served food. The kitchen must be understaffed. The last time I was there, we were told it was slow because it of the theater. The other 3 times were other excuses-- its lunch time, theater, etc. This is a management problem-- the kitchen is understaffed.
The food was average. The people are nice. The location is good.
Its just the service out of the kitchen that I'm basing my rating on.
The food was average for the area. Drinks were not well executed (mostly simple syrup and juice). The service left much to be desired.
Our waiter was not attentive and service was slow despite the restaurant being half empty. For an evening out choose another resturaunt.
the food was ok, but the kitchen was slow, they forgot one of the order. Easy place before concerts, but kind of noisy.
Restaurant was nice but none of us enjoyed our food.
I'm never disappointed with the food or the service. Although the noise level is a problem, the proximity to the Manship Theatre and the River Center makes this my go-to choice for pre-theatre dinner.
This is always one of my go-to spots. Food is always great and location is perfect if you are doing anything downtown. We were in the area for New Year's Eve and knew the place was a perfect place. Drinks are always very good as well! My favorite dishes include: shrimp and grits, seafood pasta, porkchops, blackened chicken caesar salad, downtown chicken sandwich. Basically, I've never had a bad meal here!
We are never disappointed with Capital City Grill. The menu is varied and reasonably priced and the sidewalk view is very pleasing. Not sure why, but our server kept disappearing this time for longer than we would have preferred as we could see our drinks getting warm sitting on the bar, but overall, he did a good job. The noise level is perfect--not too quiet or loud and the convenience to the Shaw Center for the Performing Arts can't be beat. My personal menu favorite is the Greek Pasta Salad, but everything I've ever tried there is excellent.
Food is good at a good price. I often have problems with cocktail orders. My wife and I like dirty martinis. They are often out of olive juice or olives.
The food was very good and our waitress was very accommodating.
I gave this a low because they have done better in the past. We arrived 5 ish. Ordered my drink and it was wrong. They fixed that but when we got our food mine was cold and old tasting like it was made yesterday. My friend never got her salad they comped her said they were really busy. Mind you they just opened for dinner. I have been here lots after live after five and it was amazing. Hope they can fix the problems. I MAY be back.
The food was great. Everyone in my group were pleasantly surprised with the food. The service could have been a littler better since the restaurant was not that busy. I know that sounds harsh. It really was not ment to sound that way. Our server probably had other duties besides serving our table
A very convenient place when attending a Manship function. Food is quite good and prices are reasonable. Service is always good. Discount for manship members makes it more attractive.
I had not been here in awhile, but the service and the food turned out to be just fine. I had the Seafood Pasta and it was very tasty. My husband had the Catfish Orleans and he enjoyed it. Overall a good place to dine if going to the Manship Theater next door!
It helps to have reservations on Saturday night before a concert. I booked this reservation about a month ago. Opentable is the best for prebooking. Service was mediocre. Our waitress was Emily. She was very attentive, but the kitchen was very slow on our simple orders of grilled shrimp and chicken breast. The shrimp were hot but the potatoes were not. Chicken breast was not hot nor the veggies. The manager did discount our meal due to the kitchen being slow. Overall a decent experience but needs to work better with kitchen on busy nights.
The atmosphere was lively; service was good for a busy evening. The dinner portions were smaller than expected and at similar restaurants; our table would have ordered appetizers prior to dinner had we known this.
Awful service. 6:00 reservations. Got sat by 6:30. Drinks and apps took 30 minutes. Actual wait staff came by twice to check on us. Food was only slightly better than what I can cook at home.
Never going again!
The food and service are very good and the location is perfect for Manship pre-theatre dinner. But the noise level almost cancels out all of those positives. It's a shame to have a pleasant evening begin with such an assault of noise.
Good experience overall. The only downer was that the Sunday brunch menu is not listed online so when we weren't offered when we came in to eat we had no idea we were missing out on brunch/ drink specials until we saw other tables with breakfast food. We did ask a server for a menu so we knew what the drink specials were and so that we knew what to look forward to for next time. So if you go on Sunday make sure to get a brunch menu.
Disappointing. They underestimated the volume of people for the day. Ran out if champagne, pulled the brunch menu early, and host was very pushy. Food was Ok and our served was pleasant despite our disappointment with the experience as a whole.
Food was pretty good and decently priced, but the waitress was not friendly or attentive. Also, the restaurant was incredibly noisy to the point that we couldn't hear each other talk.
I loved the ambience. The service was excellent and the price was affordable.
It was wonderful and friendly place. Waiter was very attentive and the drinks were good as well.
I made an online reservation through OpenTable but when I got to the restaurant they had no record of the reservation. We showed them the email confirmation though and they were able to seat us outside almost immediately, which was much better because inside was crowded and very loud. The service was excellent and prompt although I wish their outside seating was a little more comfortable and quieter.
They served the chocolate Martini in a water glass! Unheard of. Not classy at all. Almost as bad as byronz's serving wine in a water glass. As much as you pay for a drink it should come in the glass it is called for!!!
Friday night was a miss for CCG downtown. There wasn't enough staff, food was cold, drinks were slow, and the a/c was not working. I frequently go here and will go again.
To be fair, the waitress said that the 35 minute wait for our drinks and the cold food was due to lack of dinnerware because of an earlier conference crowd
I enjoy the relaxed feel at Capital City Grill - so much so that I've eaten here several times. The food is comforting, plentiful and moderately priced. Our party split the bang bang shrimp. The entrees varied from pasta to a variety of fish dishes, all excellent. Service was good considering there was large convention in town.
Food was good and the service was quick. The mahi mock shoe dish was delicious!
Quick service. Food was really good. Had time restraints for event downtown. Had appetizers & food & was out within 45 minutes!
Our first time to eat here. We were at Live after 5 and made the 5 min walk to eat at Capital City Grill. We loved everything about the place. Location, food, ambiance and drinks. If you've never been, you're missing out on a great place. We will go back soon!
Celebrated my daughters graduation from McKinley Sr High! Kendall our waiter was awesome. He has great forethought. Thank you
We celebrated Mother's Day at Capital City and it was an excellent. The food was awesome
I love the food here! The service was a little slow on my last visit, but it was Mother's Day and extremely busy. I've dined here on several occasions and the servers are usually very quick, friendly and attentive.
Enjoyed the place however they seated us at a table where the evening sun was blinding. They knew that however still seated us there. They should have some type of shade to use to avoid such circumstances.
