Capers is a favorite of mine and has been for many years. It pains me to say this last visit was not so good. While the service and ambiance was as good as always something happened to the food service.
I ordered the wedge salad and ribs. The wedge, which I measure all others by was just so so. The ribs were flat out cold. While I did return the ribs and got a much warmer dish it all seemed out of sorts.
Sorry capers but swing and a miss this night.
Good selection of food and excellent service. The drinks are excellent. The food is good value for money. The only drawback is that it can be loud.
My husband and I went for a date night. We had a gift certificate. The service was excellent. We were seated right away, our drinks and food very timely, and all the staff was very nice. Food was as expected for a pub style. It was loud enough, my husband and I had a hard time holding a conversation at a level that was private. Overall a good experience.
Unfortunately this was a very bad experience. The service was unprofessional, our waiter was not hygenied well at all. The placemats were paper and cut with scissors and crooked. The drinks took 20 min and ice tea and water was warm, no ice. Time went by and no food, 40 min. I went up to bar to ask if someone could check on food. Waiter came by 10 min later and said it was going to be a little bit. They were behind. Food came, a total of 60 min from the time we ordered. My salad came, could barely stand the taste, my boyfriend's chicken was suppose to be Panko with mashed potatoes, he received cold chicken with sour mushroom sauce and hard rice. Couldn't eat it, was so bad. We had a $50 gift card and owed $5.00. You would think they would offer something? Nope, nothing. It was really bad, rather have ate hospital food. Honestly, concerned about health conditions there all the way around. Sad.
The food was excellent, and the service was spot on!
Not as upscale as the reviews and pics indicated... more sports bar than nice dinner.
Excellent food and service.
Love the crab cakes. Heathly choices for me and comfort food for hubby.
I am impressed with the menu selection.
Love the setting and food was within my expectation in quality. Will most certainly dine there again.
The burgers where awesome but the Avocado Shrimp Cocktail was the best ever!!! I would definitely go back to try some of the other meat dishes that looked really good!
Best neighborhood restaurant around.
Capers food is consistently very good. We love the vibe and the friendly staff.
Always good food and drinks. Great carpascio. Large salads.
All great except for the Host. Got there 5 mins early for my reservation, was told it would be 10mins. In that time 2 other couples came in, in both cases they were seated before us. 10 mins came and went, I reminded them thar 15mins had lapsed. Told me just clearing a table and pointed to it. Then the other host came, sat yet another couple at that table. I again reminded them, 20mins had lapsed (25 since arrival). Finally it seemed to click I suppose and they seated us. From that point on, waiter and all other service was excellent.
Did not have to wait long and easy reservation. Waiters were fast in turning tables over for the next
Noisy and food portion was small
for the prices.
Really enjoyed the Blackberry Beef Medallions and Chicken Parmesan. House Cab was hearty and flavorful. Hot sourdough bread was crunchy and addicting.
We were able to secure a reserve. through Open Table, but the restaurant was very busy and seemed understaffed. Servers seemed rushed, and ours was way too busy.
A first drink order wasn't correct, so the waitress willingly replaced it, and offered to remove it from the bill (I declined, since the replacement drink was ok). I ended up ordering a second/different drink - and in the end she gave a generous discount for both. So she did try to make amends for the bar mishap.
The food was good - just took a while, and then we weren't really checked in on.
Nice neighborhood restaurant/sports bar. I had there salmon on a bed
of spinach w/side veggies Thought the dish was very good. My wife enjoyed her appetizer of Pablo prawns. House wine is okay.
Excellent service. Many menu choices.
They had a pre fix menu for Valentine’s Day and we were not aware of that. It was not listed on their website and when I called to make the reservation, they did not mention it at all. They did not allow any substitutions and their kids menu was reduced to only kraft Mac and cheese. They raised their prices by at least 20% or more for the day and while our server was nice and attentive, the overall service was not great. I understand why restaurants limit the selection of items they serve on major holidays (mostly so the kitchen can provide fast service when options are less), Capers was not busy at all. There were many tables in the restaurant empty and they were far too rigid to provide any level of service that would be expected when paying that price point. Additionally, we were given the bill the second we finished our food even though we had full glasses of wine. We were not offered a desert menu, which we asked for twice, and we were still waiting for our waters that we ordered when we sat down when our bill was presented. Needless to say, we skipped what would have probably been an over priced mediocre dessert and went to Baskin Robbins next door.
It was very disappointing because we live very close and we were hoping it could become our go to restaurant for a nicer meal, but the quality of the food simply did not justify the prices we paid (even if they hadn’t raised the prices).
Tried it since pictures looked a Amazing, but Food was very flat tasting. Almost every dish is $15 no matter salad , French toast or lamb. Never going to this place. Put me in a bad mood 😕
A lot of options, a little overpriced for what it is. Service was good, food came out quick and was good.
We came for our Godsons' birthday celebration. We've only been here for dinners or happy hour but never lunch/brunch. We liked the extended menu on Sunday with both lunch and brunch served. It's a little pricey but Campbell is expensive in general. Food was good so we're happy.
There were little black bugs flying around our table. One dropped into a drink. Very annoying & gross.
VERY crowded on Sunday nite but only a short wait.- they ran out of my favorite - Meatloaf. Settled for 2nd best - not a happy camper. Good service.
I like Capers and the vibe there. Was disappointed in the food during our last visit though. The chicken Parmesan was dry and flavorless. It had been pounded very thin so one breast took up nearly the whole plate. There was very little sauce or cheese on it. We ate a small portion of it there (the mash potatoes were good) and took the rest home. We doctored up the leftovers with sauce and cheese the next day and then it was good. My daughter always wants to go there for the steamed veggies (who argues when a kid wants to eat healthy!?) but this time there were only a small amount of veggies. I gave her my portion and went without veggies. I'm hoping to have a better experience next time because I do like this place and the prices are reasonable.
Used to consider this a “neighborhood gem” but the last few times we have eaten there the food has not met expectations. Steak salad is a favorite but requested steak to be medium and it came rare to medium rare. Even after returning it to cook some more, it still had some rare pieces. The chicken with panko was good but the crab patties on the salad seemed small.
Had a good time. food was great and service was good.
WIll be back.
Sadly, despite a reservation, Capers told us, including my 86 year old mother in law, that it was going to be a 20 minute wait. We were willing to wait in the car but when we came in, they said that it would be another 25-35 minutes wait because tables weren’t leaving due to the football game. Capers selectively honors reservations... needless to say, we didn’t stay...
They really could make some room for waiting. It was a total mob scene near the front door. Our reservation got us a table, but we ordered 3 appetizers, when the first two came, the girl that delivered them said the third would be right out. We waited long enough that we finally decided to cancel the order, and all of a sudden they appeared. We've been going to Capers for years, and it's our go to place for a night out, but wow, that was a huge disappointment.
Usually Capers is good, but this last time the only thing good was the calamari! The meatloaf was undercooked, how do you undercook meatloaf?! The Chinese chicken salad was ok, but the chicken was lacking and hard! It will end a wile before we go back!
Friendly casual place for good food.
Very good food and service. My only complaint are all the TVs. I prefer restaurants without TVs, but that's the norm now.
Celebrating a birthday!! Dinner was Great!
Food was also very great! Will be back!
The food was great. The atmosphere very nice. The service was exceptional.
Way too noisy! The service was good until the tables around us filled up and our server was way too busy to bring us our "free" dessert timely; we waited 15 minutes for the dessert (after paying and tipping!) and left without it! At heavy dining times, you need more wait staff! Also, the carpacio is very skimpy, should have been more meat on the plate!
Nice place for a nice dinner. Service was very good. The food was good. It’s a place we go to get out for the night
Great food drink and service!
A bit noisy on arriving at 6, half full. Central bar, dining seating most all around. Seat for 2. Overhead LED spot track light was randomly blinking, highly distracting.
Service fairly attentive, until later when it was gettin busy. Bus staff on it for cleanup, water and even brought boxes. But the wait for dessert was to long, we timed out.
Menu should cover most everyone's taste ! Great variety ! Tasty too.
30 minutes from ordering drinks to getting the drinks
45 minutes from ordering to getting food.
A table sat after us received drinks before us.
