Cap City Fine Diner & Bar - Gahanna Ratings and Reviews
Food was overcooked. Balsamic Chicken cut in a way that it doesn't seem possible to do anything but overcook it. Chicken was extremely dry and tough. Medium cheeseburger had absolutely no pink in it. There were more shredded carrots on the plate than calamari in the calamari appetizer.
Cap City is one of our favorites. One usually knows just what to expect in terms of service and food quality. That is why I took my wife there to celebrate her 70th birthday. Unfortunately, she ordered the Southern Fried Chicken. It was very much overcooked. I consider this the exception to the quality of their food though and will not hesitate to return. I would still recommend Cap City to all.
We eat here probably once or twice a month and the service and food are always outstanding. This occasion stood out more than others though and it is all because of the service Chad, our waiter, provided. He was attentive, friendly and had a great knowledge of the menu. He made genuine recommendations, checked on us frequently and was sincere in thanking us as we left. In a restaurant full of stars, he truly shined the brightest. Thank you Chad, we will definitely be back!
I don’t write this review lightly. We dine out often and understand that it possible for a restaurant to have a off night or a hiccup. We also frequent many of the other Cameron Mitchell restaurants in the city.
Firstly, the service was perfection. He was attentive, refilled our drinks and checked
With us often.
There were three of us in my party — each of usb picked a different entre. The cheeseburger, meatloaf and beef stroganoff. Each meal arrived at the same time and was hot — but unfortunately that’s where the positives of the meal stop. The beef stroganoff was bland and without any depth of flavor. The beef was chewy and not at all fork tender. The cheeseburger was an uninspired dish — so simple that is should perfect like the same dish is at NorthStar Café — they couldn’t be more different in quality and flavors. The meatloaf was another underwhelming entree — lacking it texture and flavors. Just a slab of beef and a mound of subpar potatoes.
We did get then blue cheese chips as an app and they didn’t disappoint.
We went for a date 5:30 on New Year's Eve. Despite being busy, the service was very good. I had the beef stroganoff, which was a blue plate special, and delicious. We split a dessert, which was also delectable (cheesecake with fresh strawberries). A nice place--I'll be back.
My reservations were good.
I had requested a fish stew when doing the reservations, but when it arrived it was broth with some seafood bits, onions and a small amount of tomato pieces.
The waitress took the stew back and had some extra tomato dices added. The stew was not what I had eaten there before and will try other menu selections.
My wife's pork chops were delicious as usual.
We got a piece of the chocolate cake to go and it was excellent.
We will return and have another selection from the menu.
Thanks, Grant and Linda Ferree
Been quite a few years since we've been there and it's close to home; thought the food was inconsistent....the salmon dip with everything bagel chips was phenomenal, the pecan crusted pork chops were way too sweet, the meatloaf had no mushrooms, the chicken rigatoni pleased a very picky eater....but the service was great, the complimentary birthday dessert was fantastic.....so more pros than cons, a couple of entrees needed work, overall a pretty good experience and we'll come back again
We took our two grown sons to Cap City Diner on Tuesday; we had reservations through Open Table and they gave us a beautiful corner booth which was well situated for seeing all the "goings-on" in the restaurant. Each of us had drinks which were very good, and each of us chose a different entree: Romano Crusted Chicken, Meatloaf, Grilled Salmon, and Chicken Marsala.
All of us loved our meals, and "Magic" our server, was excellent.
Cap City Diner is reliably excellent every time we go.
Our server was fantastic and the management was super responsive. We had one issue with my mother in law's order. (she didn't think her sandwich tasted right) They quickly offered to replace her order. The replacement came quickly and the manager stopped by to check on her.
Impressive. We will definitely be back.
We felt well cared for that night. It was my daughter's 14th birthday and we had a great time!
(she got free cake) Pretty sure my teenage boys will be picking Cap City for their birthday dinners out. Nice touch!
Cap City is a very consistent restaurant........the food. the service, the atmosphere and that to me is very important. I can feel comfortable bringing guests and know I will not be disappointed . The fact that you can make reservations is also very important as I know approximately how long before I get seated. I enjoy eating there.
Thank you so much for the wonderful service and great food. It was my moms birthday and she does have Celiac disease it is very hard to find restaurants that can accommodate her illness. Cap city had a great menu to accommodate this condition my mom sufferes from.
