Cap City Fine Diner & Bar - Gahanna Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had a good experience. Service was outstanding—waitstaff courteous and attentive, food delivered quickly, and everything accurate. My wife got a salad and thought the portion too small for the price. The restaurant was quiet, but that may be due to the restaurant just opening and only having around a dozen customers.
We were seated immediately upon arrival which set the mood for a perfect dining experience. On the way out we had time to kill waiting for a movie so we stopped at the bar where the bartender proceeded to make a wonderful martini with Elderflower Liqueur. Please put this "Pear Martini" on your cocktail menu it was fabulous! A short walk to the movies after leaving the restaurant was also a plus. Thank you for being part of a great evening out!
First the service was outstanding. Great waiter...attentive and made recommendations.
I ordered the meatloaf without the bread. It was ok. I feel the price was high for the
portion received and the quantity...two little pieces of broccoli, a scoop of potatoes topped
with onion rings. My friend ordered the ceasar chicken salad...two nice pieces of chicken...and
minimal lettuce....again pricey.
Our meals were excellent, from appetizer to dessert. Salmon spread was great, butternut soup perfect, blue plate special very satisfying. Service seemed unusually rushed, but we didn't say anything. Definitely returning, but won't hesitate to ask server to slow down.
A friend and I went to Cap City Diner in Gahanna prior to going to a play. While the atmosphere was nice enough, the server seemed to have an "attitude..." she was not friendly and was not at all attentive to our table as we ate. The food was wonderful, however!
Table was ready. Three meals had to be returned and one more should have. Server did a great job keeping up with this group of ten. Hadn't been here for years, but food was less than average, and as always Cameron's alcoholic beverages are sky high - especially for the venue. Will not return and feel certain the group as a whole felt the same. Meatloaf was tasteless and served luke warm (a winner years ago), rolls had no taste and as mentioned above a sandwich was returned, a steak asked for well done served rare, blackened salmon salad's fish was cold and red - sushi?
Someone in our party needed to be away from the table just as the food arrived. The waitress was kind enough to warm up her dinner for her and the kitchen staff felt she needed to have the whole meal replaced. Thank you Cap City staff for taking care of us!
Service was extremely slow. After taking our drink order the server said she'd be back with rolls. That took a few minutes and they weren't even fresh. We did not like them at all. I ordered a burger and was informed that it was burger&beer week so I could save a couple bucks by ordering fries as a side. My friend ordered a club sandwich and her child had a hot dog. It definitely took too long to be served, especially considering how basic the order was. Our server was not the one to drop it off either. My burger was good but did not come with all the condiments that were listed on the menu so I had to wait for the server to check on us to ask for what I needed. (mayo, ketchup, mustard) My burger also had the saddest little tomato on it. I was amused that a burger would look so sad during "Burger" week. The fries were good but the portion size was small. (I also had eaten them all by the time I could ask for condiments) I was charged over $3 for a handful of fries. I had only been here once before and it was several years ago. I know it's popular so I picked it to meet up with a friend. I will not be going back. I paid over $30 inc. tip for something we could have eaten just about anywhere for much cheaper. When the server dropped off the bill she apologized for the service even though we had not mentioned anything. If she knew it was bad why was it bad for the entire hour we were there? Every time she left our table to grab us something else it took several minutes. We spent a lot of time waiting on things, even the bill.
I have been to all 3 Cap City's and I love them all. The food is always good and worth a wait. I usually make reservations so I don't usually have to wait, but I would. The food is consistent and the staff is always super friendly. They get real busy even on a week night but like I said it is always worth the wait.
Disappointing birthday experience. My husband and I, along with our 2 children went here last night to celebrate my birthday (which was yesterday Sept 27th). My husband made a reservation and noted it was my birthday. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess who wished me a Happy Birthday and was very friendly. I would have assumed the birthday message was relayed to our waitress, but we came to find out that it was not. Our waitress was not very friendly. She never acknowledged my birthday or anything. The food was pretty good, as we do love coming to Cap City for milestone celebrations. The waitress asked us at the end if we'd like dessert, and I asked for the Carrot Cake (which is AMAZING!). When she walked away... I said to my husband, I bet it won't come out with a candle. He said that he was sure it would because he had noted it in the reservation. Well... she walked out with no candle in the cake. When she placed it on the table, my husband nicely asked if she could please bring a candle. She took the cake back, and returned a minute later with a candle. She never said Happy Birthday or anything. When we received our bill, the cake was on there!! We did ask if birthday celebrations are still acknowledged with a complimentary piece of cake. She did end up taking it off... it was just a disappointing experience, and not what we've come to expect from Cap City. We may think twice before having a celebration there next time.
I love Cap City for the consistency, no matter which location you go to. I get the same thing every time I go, Romano crusted chicken, a house salad with sherry mustard vinegarette and chocolate cake. I know and trust it's exactly she same every time I go.
The salad dressing is like no other, very unique and delicious! The Romano crusted chicken is the perfect portion of crispy chicken pieces and perfectly dressed pasta so it doesn't stick together. It's also perfectly cooked, never mushy. It's a must have. Lastly the chocolate cake is TO DIE FOR. Three large layers and the perfect ratio of frosting to moist cake.
I love this restaurant!
