Canyon Creek - Square One Ratings and Reviews
We had a wonderful meal with pretty good service. The only thing I took issue with was the other guests while we were there. Multiple large groups making a rediculous amount of noise at times my girlfriend and I couldn’t even hear eachother speak. Other than that the service and food was incredible. We’ll definitely be going back.
For 20 years we've dined at Canyon Creek Sherway, so this is the second time we've eaten at Canyon Creek Square One. While the food and services are the same. The parking lot was dark and the front door is poorly light and there's was a huge puddle in front of the door from the rain. Unless we found another place for great steaks, we will continue to eat here.
Great service from our waitress, who was very good at not rushing us and allowing us to enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace.
Food over all was very good, with the exception of the creme brulee, which was soupy, rather than set. handled well though and deducted from bill.
I took out friends and thought it made sense to try out the price fix menu @ $37 which includes a starter, entree and desert. I don’t usually take the time to write reviews as I don’t eat out often to warrant the critique. I am taking the time to write this review out as I was extremely disappointed in the “Prime Rib” entree. The quality of the steak was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant. Even after I left the restaurant I found myself feeling ripped off as the “Medium Prime Rib” has a lot of tough fat in it and the meat itself was just CHEAP CHEAP!!!!! It was yuck TBH!!! Truth is that I personally feel Canyon Creek should give me a FULL refund. I had the upsell of a Lobster Tail for $10.99 which was smaller than my pinky finger meaning you can eat the tail in one mouthful another ripoff!!!!! The dessert options was lacking with only 2 a Creme Brule and a Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream. Both options my table of 5 agreed was CHEAP CHEAP. I found myself saying that I could goto Costco for the same food ordered and paid 40% yet find myself with the best of the best of each part of the Price Fix menu. Stay home and save your money. I went to Canyon Creek as a prelude to watching a movie at the Theater adjacent. Never again!!!
Had lunch here with a good friend...Chantal our server was great: friendly, knowledgeable, attentive but not too much, and conversational. She offered to let us ample two white wines we were trying to decide on, which was a really nice touch!! The Caesar salad was good, a little too much dressing but great with lots of garlic! I custom ordered mine with salmon and no bacon and it was no problem! the quiet ambience (no loud blaring music) was much appreciated, too. We'll be back!
While our server happened to be very good, the food itself was quite the opposite. We opted for the prime rib from the featured Prix Fixe menu, which for $37 (plus tax and tip) includes a starter, a main course, and one of two dessert options. BOTTOM LINE: The quality of the prime rib was really inferior! My cut was under cooked and full of excessive fat or gristle, and my wife's was slightly over-done and lacking in flavour (Even the The Keg makes a better prime rib!); the baked potatoes were dried out from being over-cooked; the creme brulee was more like vanilla pudding than a custard, and had a chocolatey base that frankly ruined the dessert. The double chocolate brownie was uninspired. Overall, a ho-hum meal that made us wish we had chosen somewhere else to celebrate our anniversary.
Quality of the food was under par compared to several past dining experiences. There were two of us for dinner, both ordering virtually the same steak, at medium, but one of them was rare.
Also the portions have been getting smaller.
this may be our last time to Canyon Creek.
Their *complimentary* inhouse bread and honey butter is amazing, ask for extra butter. The coconut shrimp is so good - best ordered on Wed or Thurs when they have $5 off "sharing plates" (aka appetizers). Also like their steak frites since the fires are very tasty and cut into crunchy shoestring-sized goodness.
coconut shrimp was meaty and delicious
the beef stew was tasty but very watery and for almost $20, 5 tiny pieces of beef in this so called stew is a rip off. Stew should be filling and thick. I had to place my mashed potatoes in the watery sauce to help eat it.
And that didn't help. It's pretty bad that I had to eat bread so that I could fill up.
The bill was $95 before tax for 2 of us and I wasn't feeling full. I won't be coming back, too bad, as I was told to go through a friend, and this was our first time.
I have eaten for a lot more great food for a lot less....very disappointed!!
Arrived for our reservation, asked to sit on the patio. Hostess told us to put and she will bring us menus. Waited 7 minutes, went and got the menus myself when I went back to hostess stand to get them she was on her phone.
The place was dead one other table on the patio. No server. I asked the hostess to send a server to get us drinks.
It must. Be the bartender that looks after the patio because we got our beer and ordered them the hostess delivered our food a while later. It was luke warm as if it had been sitting waiting to be delivered to our table.
Server was nice but perhaps she had tables in the bar ? We have never had this experience here before
Very accommodating, friendly staff and efficient. The service is very good and the food is excellent. Overall this place is impressive, this is my first time here but for sure not my last. Kudos to all the staff members. Thanks for wonderful dinner experience.
We ate on the patio outside but found it to be a little small at this location and there were bugs flying around during the evening hours. Being in downtown mississauga makes the view outside enjoyable. The indoor dining area looked very nice!
The food was fairly tasty and the service was good. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for the food and overall experience.
