Canyon Creek - Square One Ratings and Reviews
There was an issue with my reservation. When my guest arrived a couple of minutes before I did, he asked for the reservation under my name which the hostess found, and he was seated at a table. When I arrived I was told I did not have a reservation. I asked them to check again and again I was was told I had no reservation so I was seated at a different table. As a result, we sat at different tables for 15 minutes until we emailed each other and realized we were both there.
I don't know how the reservation could be there one minute and not there the next, but it meant we lost 15 minutes of our available time waiting, both thinking the other was late.
Loved sitting in the lounge for dinner - tables were roomy and the ambience was vibrant but not overpowering. Sad to see the multigrain loaf has disappeared but the replacement buns were delicious too! I started with a cesar salad, which is one of the best that I have had in a long time. Both of us had steak for dinner and not a spec was left on our plates. Finished the meal with the Key Lime Pie - perfect ending to a great meal.
This was my first time dining at Canyon Creek, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I had read a few reviews before-hand, and overall, I've only heard good things and I was quite impressed with my experience.
The food was excellent, and well prepared. The service was even better. Our waitress was always available and made our experience even more enjoyable.
Probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to.
I will definitely be back for my next special occasion lunch/dinner (:
I have been there many times and find their staff are very friendly and courteous and the service has always been good. The food is very good and we have tried different dishes and the quality is consistent. The restaurant allows us to conduct business meeting as it is quiet comparitively. We enjoy going to Canyon Creek and that says it all.
We enjoyed our meal but expected more based on the cost of the dishes. For a $30.00 steak we expected a thick cut of beef but ours were fairly thin. We were also quite surprise to be charged extra for the sauce. We would consider returning but based on the value and cost may think twice. We are still up in the air as overall we did have a positive experience.
This was my first visit to any Canyon Creek and my friends and I dined on the outdoor patio and it was very pleasant, The service was friendly, cheerful and unobtrusive yet efficient. Wine list was quite reasonable compared to other dining venues. I rate my first time around as really a 3.5 - 4.0 but will return soon for a true comparison. I do recommend it.
The menu changed - two of the best things gone... Scallop appetizer and pork chop dinner. To be fair the prime rib was good. We never got to try the lettuce wraps becuase our waitress forgot and depended on others to check on us, not sure why we left a tip. It's been a long time since I have been in a decent restaurant where I had to flag a server down becuase my drink was empty, Canyon Creek's waitress never made 1 proactive drink order.
Canyon Creek is a destination restaurant for me, my family, and my friends. This occasion was a treat from a friend visiting from Vancouver. I introduced him to our Canyon Creek in the fall of 2011 and when he came in this week, he insisted on buying us dinner - as long as we could go to Canyon Creek. As usual the service was excellent, the food delicious, and the evening great. What brings me back is above average food and service for a fair price. We'll be back!
A good evening. Seating was quickly changed to meet our needs. Much appreciated. Group of 11 and all food was good except for one of the sirloin steaks which was spongey and tough. When one of my guests commented on the small amount of mashed potato, staff quickly and quietly added an extra portion without any fuss. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. She was available without hovering and engaged in conversation in a positive and personable manner.
The lighting within the dining room was very dark, hard to see anything. The menu seemed to have changed recently, I wasn't impressed with the changes. One no longer recieves vegetables with the potatoe and steak. Sometime ago one could receive the Chophouse salad with the steak entree, this is no longer the case. I asked our server why they had changed the dessert menu, she stated the item was out of season. So I ordered the pumpkin creme brulee instead. When is pumpkin ever in season in the middle of June of Canada? I think its time to visit the Keg.
We reserved a table last minute and they were able to fit us in. Canyon Creek is a tradition for our family, we sometimes go just to satisfy our craving for their amazing honey butter. The wait staff are supre friendly to younger kids in the restaurant and are not afraid to talk to the customer and engage in a conversation. I wanted to add some of the waitress and waiters on Facebook they we're so nice and friendly. The staff were able to make the members of my family laugh with their storys and comments. Overall a great place for everyone, the food as always was amazing and full of flavor. Great job Canyon Creek!
Our evening at Canyon Creek was wonderful. My only suggestion would be to try and make sure that the lobster tails being served to customers at the same table be close to the same size. Two of us had the Surf 'n Turf however one of our lobster tails was half the size of the other.
We were seated as soon as we arrived; the table service was quick and friendly; and the food was tasty. It was Mother's Day so the noise level was a bit above average, but understandably so. I have been to the Square One location before and would return again in the future.
Busy and noisy environment on a Saturday night. Large menu selection with focus being on the steaks which were done appropriately to order. Very efficient service with multiple servers bringing out orders in a timely manner. Dinner for three including two teenaged appetites including alcohol, tax and tip was $216! Pricey night, but cheaper than its more upscale counterpart down the road Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Probably received better value for the price too.
Second time visiting, and again a disappointment. At least the steaks were delicious the first visit; the second time they were tough and dry. Service is always poor. Servers all look dead tired, but who wants to be served by someone who doesn't smile, who stares at you until you make the first comment, throws abrupt "Are you done?" without checking the table to see whether drinks need refill, or ask why we wanted to catch her eye. The only part the servers (both times) managed to give proper attention was up until they took the orders, and when the bills were requested. In between, no drop by checks, no attention, the tone changes to condescending, frustrated tones. Then the friendly tone comes back when we pay. This is bizarre.
This location of Canyon Creek is not of the standard we experience in the Burlington and Vaughan locations. The restaurant music was too loud not allowing for normal conversation even with the person beside. Also, the food was not the usual perfection with meat being overdone and salads not having the expected freshness or flavour. There was an issue with one of the meals that was addressed by the server promptly but the kitchen returned the plate with the same quality of food and without the side of fries.
The service was of excellent quality despite the disappointing food.
