Canyon Creek - Scarborough Ratings and Reviews
Hostess was horrible...
We made a reservation with a request [through Open Table comment section] for a booth, away from the kitchen and washrooms. The first table they took us to was close to the kitchen and was a table not a booth. Then the second table we were offered was directly beside the Noisy kitchen doors with cutlery and dishes rattling. Again we declined the seating and reminded the hostess of our specific requests. Then we were shown to a very tight booth for two [there were many large booths available] directly across from a family of 6 with two small children running in the isle. Again we declined and I went out to the main hostess station to complain about their ineptness with seating after my specific request. I should have asked for the On Duty Manager but a more senior hostess type finally apologized and took us to a reasonable booth.
We got there and there were five people waiting at the door to greet us. It felt like I was being interviewed. We were seated and waited 10 minutes before I had to find the manager so that we could get someone to serve us. In his defence, he gave us a complimentary appetizer....
Next, we ordered some drinks to start, but received waters only. When the manager asked how we were doing (I thought he did a great job under the circumstances), we told him that we had not received our drinks. He brought them to us personally and also gave these to us.
We then had our appetizer and salads. When the prime rib came, it looked rare even though we ordered it medium rare. We sent it back asking that it be done medium well, and it turned out to be delicious.
We then asked to pay for our meal with a gift card. The first machine didn't work, so she came back with another one.
Our candle kept blowing out at our table....All in all, it was an almost comical experience.
The food is ałways good. They have enough choices on their menu that there is something for everyone and there are enough appealing dishes that there are different dishes I would order. Getting a steak cooked to the degree of done-ness I like is not a not or miss affair as it can be at other restaurants.
They are near the 401 chiche can be handy when meeting with friends coming from different parts of the GTA.
They have a great deal of comfortable booth seating which also serves to give privacy and absorb sound. It is easy to book a reservation online. Other restaurants we go to only open a percentage of seats for online reservations and even if you try to book a month in advance for a Saturday night you can’t get a reservation. Other restaurants we go to are fine when they have more seating due to a patio, but don’t have enough seating in the winter.
Went here for my girlfriends birthday and had a fabulous meal. Everything from the bread to start was great! Salads and appetizers were creative and delicious. The main course of steak and prime rib was cooked exactly as requested and was filling. Our deserts were so great, original and decadent. We had a lovely time and would certainly return for another special occasion. The service was great from the time we entered until we left, our server Sarah was awesome, she left us be to have our romantic little evening together but continued to make sure we had everything we needed and kept us smiling with her positive attitude and chipper comments and demeaner. Absolute 5 star time I recommend to all.
Service very good. Salmon mains were pronounced quite good. Steak not so much. Tough, not marbled, not very flavourful. Skinny fries are better suited to a fast food joint. Does none of these chain restaurants 'chip' fresh potatoes for fries anymore?
A serviceable wine list had some good choices.
We have been LOYAL Canyon customers for a long time. Food is good, service staff are experienced, quality professionals. But, wow those prices keep creeping up. This is putting pressure on the value and overall experience. I fully understand prices increase, costs everywhere are going up. And this will accelerate over next while...
Great place for a meal.
Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with picking wine and mock cocktails. My friend and I had a lovely chat without having to yell. We both had the penne with goats cheese and chicken. Cooked and spiced to perfection. And the 7 grain bread with flavoured butter was delectable!
Steak top sirloin 7oz was not as good as i remember. tended to be a bit dry(med/well) could have been the reason Pot mashed cold fixed right away but disapointing. Beef stew was also complaind about by 2 guest. Nothing specific both parties would not order it again. Other wise no complaints about the prim rib.
First time at Canyon Creek . Party of 3 chose each chose the Fix . Selected was prime rib , chicken and steak .
Before we were served baked bread and a sweet butter .
Everyone enjoyed their entre and finished off with a delicious chocolate brownie and ice cream.
We definitely will dine hear again.
Wasn't happy with our experience at Canyon Creek.
Two steaks were ok. One was not.
The one steak we ordered was rare. When he ordered medium. We waited too long for our guest to receive another meal. We thought by waiting that they he would receive a well cooked new meal.. Instead he received a steak that was heated up & overcooked.
My son had ordered a medium rare prime rib. When he received his prime rib it was rare..not edible. We didn't want to wait the length of time that our guest had to wait for his meal to return so my son ate his meal.
For the price I thought that our meal was unsatisfactory.
As it was a birthday dinner for my daughter-in-law I was very embarrassed.
Will not return.
Food is consistently good and service is great. Last visit my partner ordered the roast beef and it was too fatty and not good......an exception. The manager quickly and quietly addressed it and did not charge us for it. I would eat here again but not the roast beef unless they choose a less fatty roast.
Met friends for dinner and we enjoyed the $37 Prix Fixe selections offered, which included an appetizer, entree and dessert. We were able to enjoy a leisurely evening, enjoying the food, conversation and not feeling that we were being rushed out of the restaurant. We will definitely visit this location again.
The menu was filled with alot of alternatives for people on a restricted diet be it allergies or personal ideals, my sister has diebetes and is trying to eat healthier and I'm allergic to gluten and we both were able to find items on the menu and alot of choices to choose from. We both ordered dessert and coffee and we will definitely be returning.
We went for your 22nd Anniversary dinner. I saw where the hostess was going to sit us that there was going to be a big crowd and my husband can't take a lot of noise so we asked to be moved to a quieter seat. She took us to the lounge, which I thought was funny as the bar area is usually noisy. Our waitress Sarah Power was fantastic. As I thought we found it very noisy and it was getting my husband upset so I asked Sarah if we could move to the other side of the glass. She picked up our wine and said to leave the rest she would bring it over. She continued to be our server which we were very happy about. She was very attentive and made sure we were happy where we were along with making sure our meal was good. We got to have a good conversation with her. I am glad we didn't have to change our server as she made our Anniversary dinner a happy one. We even got our dessert with a candle and she wished us a Happy Anniversary. We would definately go back to Canyon Creek Scarborough thanks to Sarah. As well the food was delicious. We really enjoyed our Top Sirloin steak and baked potato.
My children took me here for my Birthday. We had Shrimp Ravioli, a salmon dish and a chicken dish. My daughter is allergic to sulphites , so they left off the glaze on the vegetables. Even without the glaze she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I had the triple chocolate dessert which was divine. The waiter was the best, friendly with a good sense of humour. I'll be taking my friends for our monthly lunch is a couple of weeks.
I've come to expect great food and service from Canyon Creek and I'm happy to say that they haven't let me down yet. My friend and I ordered from the Fixed Price Menu and I was happy to see that they had great choices on the menu. The potato leek & bacon soup was amazing. The prime rib was awesome and the S'mores crème brulee was delicious! Thanks to the staff for a wonderful evening!!
