Canyon Creek - Scarborough Ratings and Reviews
I love coming here. The food is always great and I love the ambiance. This visit however was not he best. The service was extremely slow and given the fact that we were 1 of maybe 6 tables in the whole place and there was plenty of staff around, it was disappointing.
A very average night. It was a cold one out so not many people were at the restaurant and we went around 10:30. Even then, the service was fairly average too (had to wait quite a bit for my bill to arrive at the end). Ordered the prime rib but it didn't taste the same as before; had the same experience last time we went so it seems there's a change in the recipe? Used to be a regular at this location but now I'm not so sure if I'll be returning quite as often.
Canyon Creek is a place we go to often and are always happy with. This time we went for a quiet New Years eve dinner with family and as always, had great food and attentive (but not smothering) service. The prix fix menu is a good value and offered sufficient choices that we were all able to select something from it. Once again, we were not disappointed with our visit
Canyon Creek (Scarborough) is my go-to place for a great meal with friends and relatives. My family are a bunch of meat-eaters from waaay back, but I'm a vegetarian so it's fortunate they have an excellent Vegetarian Burger from their lunch menu that they've always made for me during the dinner hours. Having been a vegetarian since 1996, I can say with some authority that their vegetarian burger is the best I've had so far.
Canyon Creek can be pricey, but when you eat your food, you'll understand where that money went.
Had the nachos and dip for appetizers as well as the crème brûlée for dessert and both were amazing. However, the prime rib was very disappointing… Was very surprise for something that was aged 40 days to be as grisly as it was. Two of us had the prime rib and we both agreed it was not very good however we were in a rush for show and didn’t have time to request a new cut.
Would certainly go back but expect more from their top cuts.
Hostess was horrible...
We made a reservation with a request [through Open Table comment section] for a booth, away from the kitchen and washrooms. The first table they took us to was close to the kitchen and was a table not a booth. Then the second table we were offered was directly beside the Noisy kitchen doors with cutlery and dishes rattling. Again we declined the seating and reminded the hostess of our specific requests. Then we were shown to a very tight booth for two [there were many large booths available] directly across from a family of 6 with two small children running in the isle. Again we declined and I went out to the main hostess station to complain about their ineptness with seating after my specific request. I should have asked for the On Duty Manager but a more senior hostess type finally apologized and took us to a reasonable booth.
We got there and there were five people waiting at the door to greet us. It felt like I was being interviewed. We were seated and waited 10 minutes before I had to find the manager so that we could get someone to serve us. In his defence, he gave us a complimentary appetizer....
Next, we ordered some drinks to start, but received waters only. When the manager asked how we were doing (I thought he did a great job under the circumstances), we told him that we had not received our drinks. He brought them to us personally and also gave these to us.
We then had our appetizer and salads. When the prime rib came, it looked rare even though we ordered it medium rare. We sent it back asking that it be done medium well, and it turned out to be delicious.
We then asked to pay for our meal with a gift card. The first machine didn't work, so she came back with another one.
Our candle kept blowing out at our table....All in all, it was an almost comical experience.
The food is ałways good. They have enough choices on their menu that there is something for everyone and there are enough appealing dishes that there are different dishes I would order. Getting a steak cooked to the degree of done-ness I like is not a not or miss affair as it can be at other restaurants.
They are near the 401 chiche can be handy when meeting with friends coming from different parts of the GTA.
They have a great deal of comfortable booth seating which also serves to give privacy and absorb sound. It is easy to book a reservation online. Other restaurants we go to only open a percentage of seats for online reservations and even if you try to book a month in advance for a Saturday night you can’t get a reservation. Other restaurants we go to are fine when they have more seating due to a patio, but don’t have enough seating in the winter.
Went here for my girlfriends birthday and had a fabulous meal. Everything from the bread to start was great! Salads and appetizers were creative and delicious. The main course of steak and prime rib was cooked exactly as requested and was filling. Our deserts were so great, original and decadent. We had a lovely time and would certainly return for another special occasion. The service was great from the time we entered until we left, our server Sarah was awesome, she left us be to have our romantic little evening together but continued to make sure we had everything we needed and kept us smiling with her positive attitude and chipper comments and demeaner. Absolute 5 star time I recommend to all.
Service very good. Salmon mains were pronounced quite good. Steak not so much. Tough, not marbled, not very flavourful. Skinny fries are better suited to a fast food joint. Does none of these chain restaurants 'chip' fresh potatoes for fries anymore?
A serviceable wine list had some good choices.
We have been LOYAL Canyon customers for a long time. Food is good, service staff are experienced, quality professionals. But, wow those prices keep creeping up. This is putting pressure on the value and overall experience. I fully understand prices increase, costs everywhere are going up. And this will accelerate over next while...
Great place for a meal.
Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with picking wine and mock cocktails. My friend and I had a lovely chat without having to yell. We both had the penne with goats cheese and chicken. Cooked and spiced to perfection. And the 7 grain bread with flavoured butter was delectable!
Steak top sirloin 7oz was not as good as i remember. tended to be a bit dry(med/well) could have been the reason Pot mashed cold fixed right away but disapointing. Beef stew was also complaind about by 2 guest. Nothing specific both parties would not order it again. Other wise no complaints about the prim rib.
