Canyon Creek - Front Street Ratings and Reviews
The last two times that I’ve been to the Canyon Creek on Front Street, Toronto, it’s been mediocre and the noise levels are so high that it’s difficult to have a conversation with the person sitting across from you. I ordered the salmon and it was so overcooked that I couldn’t eat it. The server never came back to the table to ask if we wanted more drinks, or to ask how the meal was. I wouldn’t recommend this location and I definitely won’t be back again.
The service was terrible but our server was very good. My daughter in law had the Prix fixed meal which was the Steak & Lobster. When the dinner came the food was cold and the Lobster was a pile of mush. It took so long to get our dinner and we had something planned after that so we had to rush.
As usual, the meal at Canyon Creek is good. However, one of the 3 of us had to get to the NHL headquarters by 6:45 pm because he is involved in reviewing the scores for all the NHL games that evening. I did inform our server of especially his time constraint. We waited a long time for our meal, and despite our reservation for 5 pm, our food only arrived close to 6:30, which didn't give my friend much time to make it to the hockey games to set up his review not to mention enjoy eating a more leisurely meal. Tables of guests around us who arrived later than us were served before us and a couple of them actually had finished everything before we even received our food. I had to remind our server at least 2 times of our time constraint, but despite imminent promises of the arrival of our meals, this really didn't happen.
I was told by the server that his hands are tied since he has to wait upon the meals from the kitchen. So don't know where the ultimate problem was.
I did tell my friends that the service tends to be slow even before ordering based on past experiences. Compensation was made with the appetizers we ordered. It was one of my friend's (the one who had to get to the game) first time at Canyon Creek and I was embarrassed because of the time it took for his food to arrive. First impressions are important.
I will still go to Canyon Creek because it is one of my favourite restaurants, but the service can be improved.
We try to go to canyon creek every year and this year was horrible.
I made the reeservation online for 6 and personally called the resturant to book for 20.
I request a table for 20 and one of the private rooms with we get every year.
I showed up and they had us in a tight spot and literally in the kitchen. We were at the back with no room to walk or even huge to greet our party when they arrived.
The table area was tight and if one person wanted to get up to even use the wash room. Everyone had to get up go let that person out. It was just an uncomfortable sitting area.
We finally got feed up and ask to move to the private room when it become available. They did move us and after that we just felt like we were a bother. The service was off. And we had ONE server to service 20 people . That was ridiculous. We spent over $500 and it was horrible. It was just to late to leave and eat somewhere else since we had plans after.
I've never experience anything like this. And I wont be going back.
I was so embarrass that I pick this resturant for my three sisters Birthday dinner.
We were in town for my son’s birthday. I put this on the special notes section but it was not mentioned during our visit by staff. That’s fine since we ordered pre fixe anyway but it would have been nice. Food was just ok. Prime rib was very thin slice. Service again was just ok.
Booked for Saturday date night with another couple. Dinner before the Leaf game. We told our server that we need to leave in time to catch the game. They sat us in a high volume area near the back of the restaurant with traffic to and from the kitchen. Too many distractions for a date night. Server was initially attentive, but became sparse throughout the night. Food arrived very late, leaving us only 15 minutes to gobble and run. We arrived at 5:15 and we expected to leave by 6:45. Desert arrived 30 seconds before we absolutely had to leave. While we were waiting for our food, we ordered two glasses of wine. That arrived almost as we had to leave. While they "compted" the wine, overall the experience was less than enjoyable. Food was OK, but when you swallow without taste its awful. Excuse was kitchen was busy. Well, I would think that Canyon Creek can get it right, especially on a Saturday night. That is not a good enough excuse for a major restaurant chain. Nevertheless, our server tried hard to compensate, but too little too late.
Food took almost 1 hour to come out. And I especially mentioned to our server that we had to go to a show and would have to leave at a certain time. He said he would let the kitchen know and it still took forever. I am very disappointed in the overall experience and embarrassed because I was the one to recommend to all my friends to dine here.
Server was excellent and very friendly! We were on our way to watch a Cirque Du Soliel show and he was very considerate of our timing. We were finished our meal within the hour. Food was fantastic, and served quickly. Surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening.
We dined from the price fix menu and enjoyed a salad, main and dessert - plenty of quality food, good value for the money. My wife and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary and our server, Kate, went out of her way to ensure that our meal and experience was fantastic.
My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by taking in a play at the Ed Mirvish theatre with a pre theatre dinner at Canyon Creek Front St. We have always enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the excellent service that is present at this Canyon Creek location. The Asian Taco is an absolute must for an appetizer. A little surprise champagne at the end of our meal was a really nice touch to help us celebrate our occasion. Thank you staff for making our evening a very enjoyable experience
We very much enjoyed our dinner here. The food was excellent. We had the Asian nachos then the chipotle sirloin and the southwest chicken and would definitely have them again. Only thing we didn't really enjoy was the brownie that came with the 3 course meal. Waitor was great both with his service and personality ! Overall a great experience. Thank you :)
Can't go wrong here! Exactly what we were looking for. From out of town for our anniversary. Great food, ambiance and service. Our servicer was awesome. Very attentive and helpful when it came to ordering along with recommendation for what to see and do in the city. The price of our meal was great for what we ordered ( that included appetizer, pasta, prime rib and desserts. Our dining experience was as close to perfect as it could be!
The food selection was varied and appealed to our palate. I felt there was good value to the selection. Our waiter was excellent. He was attentive and pleasant. I felt the restaurant was a little noisy. Perhaps there should be more baffles in the ceiling.
Did I mention that the food was excellent because it was. We enjoyed our time and will be back.
