Canyon Creek - Airport Ratings and Reviews
We were really disappointed this visit. Two of our share plates arrived luke warm (should have been hot) and had to be returned - after we waited 15 minutes for them to come to the table. We were told they were sitting waiting to be served to us but a staff meeting caused the delay. They seem to have overlooked a staff meeting has an impact on customers dining.
Our bill was wrong and had to be corrected and finally we received a notification from open table we didn’t show for our reservation. It’s interesting we confirmed our reservation with the hostess when we arrived and it was acknowledged.
Now we did receive credit for the app being unsatisfactory but this was not the experience we look for when dining out.
We are trying to figure out what changes has the restaurant made that produced such a bad experience for us this time?
Not sure we will go back to this location because of the experience; we are very disappointed the Sherway location closed making the Airport restaurant the closest option for us.
As regulars at the Creek, we were extremely disappointed this visit.
I was disappointed at several levels; 1) the appetizer of coconut prawns were not menu described as deep fried so as a result they were too “heavy” for me as an appetizer to be able to enjoy the meal that followed which I approached almost full, 2) the bread was also heavy grade and arrived late with center cold, 3) the coffee crusted steak was served with a barbecue sauce so strong I could not enjoy the meat after the second bite. Overall the meal was not subtle or delicate but overpowering. Perhaps some poor choices on my part. Next time I’ll try the fish if it’s not deep fried. PS: the waitress was overcommitted to too many tables and was slow to respond to second drink requests. Neil
The lunch menu that Open Table shows for this restaurant is not available. Open Table needs to change the lunch menu it shows on it’s website for this restaurant. The server sounded as though the lunch menu had not been offered for some time. Our previous experience with Canyon Creek has been excellent. This experience was disappointing. We will not be going to this restaurant or any of its affiliates in the future. There are too many other restaurants that offer a better experience.
I have been going to Canyon Creek for the past 10 years and I've never had a bad meal. The service is great and they offer a good cross section of good food for a great price. The airport location is becoming the go-to spot for me as it is centrally located for me and my friends. I've visited the airport location 5 times since Labour Day long weekend 2017. I'll be back again soon.
After hearing great things about this restaurant, we excitedly made reservations. I was greatly disappointed with the service and my meal. Our waiter acknowledged he was very busy (we were seated next to a party of 20 people, in addition to the patrons at the other tables in our area). It took time to receive our dinners, and no one checked in on our table once we received our meals despite several servers and bus persons in our area assisting the party. It took several attempts to get someone's attention to alert that my steak was not cooked as ordered. (It was very rare when i requested medium-rare) Server took it back to kitchen. The cook, put my cut steak back on the grill and completely overcooked it and dried it out. Server agreed that it was overcooked and expressed disappointment. He attempted to make it right, removed my meal from the bill but because of the service and meal, I will not be returning.
I booked for my son's birthday. I found the food too spicy. The hambuger was like mush and my well done steak was bloody. My son did receive a birthday dessert but the waitress forgot my daughters and mine dessert. Also when I paid the bill and she was going to bring the change she only brought back the same $20 bill and asked again if we wanted change? really???? What she was saying to us was she wanted the full $20 as a tip. I told her to keep it.
I have been meaning to come to the Airport location for quite some time now (usually go downtown). The service was amazing, the food tasted amazing and we had a good time. We arrived at 9pm on a Tuesday so the atmosphere was nice and quiet so we could enjoy our conversation without issues. We had the prime rib price fixed menu and a separate steak dinner. Simply amazing!
My fish was a too salty, though the fish skin was cooked to perfection! The server was not very attentive, had to flag her a few times for water (I am from BC and coming to Ontario was making me thirsty all the time). The ambience of the restaurant was very good !
I have to say that having our business meeting here was a blessing. The service and overall atmosphere of the restaurant was good, but the food was bang on. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food and the presentation was very pleasing. I will be bringing more of my business contacts here for meetings and my wife will be sure to enjoy our next dinner date here.
Quality of food for all 3 of us was excellent.
The only reason I have rated service lower is because I requested a small salad to accompany an order of sliders. In fact, we had a discussion about size since I did not want a lot of food. The menu showed a small salad at $5. I was delivered side salad which was much larger and the charge on the bill was $7.95.
On the positive side, the server did her best to move us to a table with less direct ventilation blowing at our table.
For some reason we had one waiter and than we were told we had another waiter. We told the second waiter we were going to share our salad and entree. Instead of having the salad come out first they brought both the salad and the entree out after we sat there for thirty minutes eating only bread and water. The bread was good, but it was getting late in the evening and we need more than bread after our long travel day. Before the food came out we had to ask for more water. Once the food came out we had to use a bread plate to share the steak and sides which happen to be only lukewarm. We would have sent it back, but it was already 9:30pm and we had to leave the hotel at 5:30am. When we were almost done the waiter asked us than if everything was alright, a bit too late.
Suggestions the waiter should either ask customer would you like us to split it for you in the back or should he bring an extra plate. Foremost ask customer if salad is an entree and if not bring it out in plenty of time to enjoy before the entree comes out. Even though we ate the entree first it still was not hot, some lukewarm to cold.
I will hope the next time we try this place it has improved on service and temperature of food along with timing of it. We don't mind giving a place a second try. We would recommend, but inform of our not so 100% experience. Perhaps we should try it when the Executive Chef is on duty.
