Our table of 12 was celebrating five birthdays at the Blues, Brews & BBQ Sunday Brunch, and it was fantastic. Choices, presentation and quality of foods were all great. The BBQ going on outside was excellent, delicious grilled vegetables and everything from salmon to prime rib. Tasty desserts and the perfect mimosas and Dragoon (best Tucson brewery) beers were flowing. The birthday people each received a decadent chocolate cupcake with Happy Birthday beautifully written on the plate in chocolate. Everyone enjoyed the fun and casual experience and our wait staff were also super attentive. The Ventana resort and grounds are 5-star, a must visit, and the Sunday brunch should not be missed.
Brunch selections appeared limited compared to our last visit.
Great lunch and love the walk to the falls
Have never been disappointed. Will continue to go back. Food & service outstanding.
Our Open Table reservation was handled just as expected. Our reserved table was ready before we arrived. The Sunday Brunch at the Canyon Cafe is always spectacular and the service outstanding. The setting is awesome. It's always a treat to dine at the Canyon Cafe.
Here for Sunday brunch which, as usual, was excellent. Not as extensive as usual because the weather forced it inside but still very good. The seafood bar is always my favorite. The BBQ ribs were melt in the mouth good.
Great as always. We look forward to this. We can't afford to go if it is to much more expensive though, which is why we don't go here to holidays. I love the food very much and your staff is very nice and helpful and polite. Sometimes I have to wait a little too long for a check, but your staff is always great.
The valet parking started a most delightful experience. Hotel is elegant. We were given our favorite table. Right near all the good seafood to start. The eggs benedict were not so good the first time, dry, but the next batch was excellent. The waiter staff was very good and kept us with delicious champagne. We will definetly come back. What a way to spend my birthday, born on the fourth of July.
enjoyed the food and service. the server was terrific and friendly. My only disappointment was we had made reservations on open table for breakfast one a.m. and the hostess did not advise open table that we did show up, so we did not get the points we were entitled to. Disappointing.
Excellent as always, brunch had a great selection of breakfast, Bar-B-Que, salads and desserts. Also, unending mimosas a wonderful touch.
We were celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary at the Blues, Brews and Barbeque Brunch. The food was delicious, the service superb, the ambiance outstanding. We highly recommend their brunch. This was the 5th year we have celebrated our anniversary here. Love it!
Well....I’ve dined at my fair share of breakfast buffets (Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Fairmont, The Phoenician, The Kahala) and this one at Lowes Ventana Canyon is the top of the line! The number of entree selections presented were too numerous to list. As a pescatarian I was in 7th heaven 😍! I enjoyed 3 trips and 3 plates of fresh oysters, shrimp and sushi. My husband is an omnivore and dais the barbecued ribs were some of the best he’s ever tasted. They had all of the normal breakfast offerings which included the best cinnamon roll ever 👏🏾. The outdoor patio offered pots of beans, corn, serving trays loaded with roasted veggies, platters of chicken, brisket, ribs and oh so great salmon, corn bread and a carving station with prime rib. I know I left more food selections out but I couldn’t possibly list them all! Each meal comes with an offering of tea, coffee, waters, juice, craft beer, mimosa and Bloody Mary if you so choose..and I did choose. The dessert table was fabulous but I could hardly fit any more in my stomach so I just sampled everything. The wait staff was absolutely great with many different servers stopping at our table and asking if we needed anything. No one said that it was not their table...how about that! I arrived in Tucson early Sunday morning to dine at this buffet due to the numerous positive reviews and I was so glad I did.
My family and friends have been coming to the Blues Brews and BBQ Brunch at Ventana for over 10 years, we would have parties of 10 people or more to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries. When we first started going the price was around $27-$30. Crab legs were included . In a few years crab legs were gone and the price per person increased. Now the price has increased to $42. I have been ok with as the quality of the food was still very good. My last visit was very disappointing. The quality and choices of the food has declined dramatically. The breakfast section used to have nice thick slices of bacon cooked perfectly. This time the bacon is paper thin and over cooked that it had crumbled into pieces. The toaster that used to be next to the bagels was gone and no bread for toasting. The eggs Benedict were over cooked . The salad section had 3 large decorative cacti pots in place of the salads that would have normally been there. One of the salads was a fruit salad but all the same fruits are available in the breakfast section. One of my favorite items on the buffet is the chocolate chip cookies. The time before this visit the cookies looked and tasted like the ones you get from the grocery store. I mentioned it to our server and she went to the kitchen and brought out ones that were much better and like the ones I had enjoyed on my many previous visits. This visit they weren't as bad as grocery store quality but they were not the wonderful chewy tasty cookies that were offered on the buffet. Overall the quality and variety has diminished considerably over the last few visits. I know the beer and mimosas are free but I do not drink and my eating companion is a vegetarian so my not drinking and my friend not eating meat it was even. We decided we wouldn't be coming back as we were not pleased over our last 3 visits but this was definitely the worse so far. Our server was wonderful and the location is terrific but I want it all... good food too!
Food was awesome. Noise level surprised me I thought it was going to be loud but it was pleasant! Definitely sit inside during the summer time because it’s blazing hot outside. Endless drinks were a nice touch since the price itself for the buffet is a little high for a regular basis thing. I think if they lowered the price to 30-35 at least it would be way more inviting to people. Otherwise awesome. Although the desserts were a little hard since they come out the same time as the other food. I would recommend them being made after the other food.
AS usual the foo and service was great for our lunch. We have been to their Sunday Brunch and it is outstanding.
We had a wonderful time at the Mother's Day Sunday Brunch! The service was outstanding and the food was great...even enough food for my daughter who is Vegan. Scenery is beautiful, mimosas were endless and the weather was gorgeous. My only shock was the bill! The advertised price for Sunday brunch was 1/2 of what we were charged for Mother's Day Brunch. It doesn't surprise me that it was more expensive, but no where on-line could I find a different price for Mother's Day. So there was a big sticker shock; although I still would have gone if I had known ahead of time, I won't be able to afford to make it an annual event :(
Went for mothers day brunch. Food was cold. Server who was nice at first returned once to give warm water. Then never returned. They charged 20% gratuity for 6 people. It was a lot of money for an undeserved tip. Warm water, dirty plates not taken away, cold food. Not sure for 80$ a person it was worth it this time. Bummed because last year was great. This time garbage. Asked to speak to a manager to show them the cold food, warm water but the server never returned. We informed a different sever who just wanted our payment, never returned with the manager. The views are gorgeous. Have been to several brunches here but I won’t return. For that much money at a minimum they could have included ice with the water. Maybe that was extra. More frustrated with being forced to give such a large tip for very poor service.
Beautiful view, but disappointing ambiance, old building and the food was just average.
Think the buffet is overpriced.
PLEASE READ!! Thought the food and variety was very good as expected. We didn't expect the outrageous price of $100 per person after mandatory 20% tip!!! PLEASE DISCLOSE that you are DOUBLING the price on Mothers Day and other special occasions. At least people can make an informed decision. Never was it disclosed or mentioned that the price would be double in the 3 times I called to confirm AND leave my C. Card. Everyone at out table was surprised even some of us that go often. It seemed very unprofessional and tacky. It's too bad as we were having a good time and enjoying our occasion. I had to pay for my daughters portion because her husband and her had planned for $100 for both, not $200. My total bill ended up being $330 instead of the expected $100. Shame on you Ventana!! Sincerely, J. R.
We’ve been to the brunch before and at that time had a great experience. This time however, was quite a disappointment. We’d made reservations more than 5 months ahead of this birthday treat. We asked for an outside table and they accommodated our request. However, shortly after seating us, the overhead misters were turned on. Our table and umbrella were at the convergence of two of the lines and the mist accumulated and ran off the umbrella in a steady drip onto our table. Had to stack napkins to keep the stream from splattering. Our waitress arrived after a considerable wait. Evidently she was also the bartender for the grill / pool area. Our initial round of drinks and waters were short a few. One in our party was told they didn’t have prickly pear lemonade, while we watched prickly pear syrup go into margaritas. Had to go to the bar for refills on waters or tea or lemonade. Our bill never came, so we went to pay at the front. They asked me to follow the seater back to the bar for our check. When the bill was brought to me per my request, it had a 20% gratuity already added in on our party of four. When I questioned this, I was told it was because we’d been seated at the grill! Who knew?!?! I mentioned we’d had terrible service and didn’t warrant what 20% represented. They didn’t argue and let me change it to 10% which was generous considering the lack of service we received.
Wonderful Variety of food offered. Had a great outdoor table seating. Mimosas and bloody mary’s were delicious. However, I had to clear the dishes myself all but once.
The menu for lunch is extremely limited, and the Fish Tacos were extremely disappointing.
This was are second trip here. We brought my aunt who was visiting from Ohio. We had been recommended this place by a favorite server at a different restaurant. We loved it. Great food, excellent drinks and a wonderful staff. One of the best brunch buffets I have ever been to. Perfect for special occasions.
Great food and service. Sunday brunch was excellent.
Such an enjoyable atmosphere. Chef Ken knocks it our of the park! Great staff too.
It was, as always, wonderful. A favorite place, despite the price, of all of us. Especially the 96 year old retired Brig. General we take out for lunch each week. We will be back soon.
Fantastic array of food offered at this buffet. We got to meet the charming executive chef and the service was lovely. The view is amazing!
Excellent Sunday brunch as always! Delicious and diverse options, always a treat.
Food was great. However, service was horrible. Was only served 1 drink during the entire brunch, no idea who my actually server was. I noted in the reservation that their would be multiple checks. The server dropped one check, charged cards incorrectly, and the entire paying process took about 30 minutes. This ruined the entire experience.
Really liked the outdoor food set up. I think better use of space should be considered inside as there were two tables, dessert and seafood, in the entry of the restaurant. Odd to have those two close together as well. Noise was a bit much, tables very close. Food quality was excellent. Service was efficient but not friendly. Perhaps too many tables per server? I would return when next in Tucson. Great place to stay.
Love this place and the brunch. We come often and are never disappointed. Just be sure to make reservations well in advance because seating can be limited (or not available at all) during most brunches...especially if it’s for a larger crowd or during the holidays.
Oh how the mighty has fallen. An environment with no ‘life’ plus that ‘great’ greasy carpet smell. Very nice staff, but we chose to source our food from the bar menu (Which is the better choice, IMO). It might be better in spring evenings when they can open the doors, but until then, sad to say: “Not worth the time”.
We ended up having to eat in the lounge area because the restaurant was closed at the time of our reservation. The food in the lounge area was the same as the Canyon Cafe menu. The food was good, but the prices are steep. We were also frustrated by not having a table when we had made a reservation well in advance.
My daughter was in from out of town and we wanted to celebrate with the Sunday brunch. All staff were outstanding, food delicious, champagne flowing and topped off with great and yummy desserts. The musicians were terrific. Two thumbs up for a memorable experience. I will be writing a great review with photos. Many tx
Me and my fiancé attended the Blues, Brews, and BBQ brunch. My advice, come very hungry. Tons opf BBQ, Sushi, Breakfast, and desserts! Endless mimosas brought to your table and bottomless brews. A live band to top it all off = a 2 hour brunch where you can get stuffed and entertained.
I have heard wonderful things about brunch at Ventana Canyon and unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The food was sooooo bland as though nothing was seasoned. We did enjoy the seafood section and the dessert bar as well as the champagne. We were so excited about all of the offerings at the grill but again, no seasoning and it was all very dry. That said, there were tons of people there and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I really wish it had been incredible but it just was not.
I have been to numerous Sunday Brunches across the country and in all the years I have been enjoying them, only two stand out as exemplary: Salty's on the Columbia River in Portland, Oregon and the Canyon Cafe at the Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona. We went to the Canyon Cafe this past Sunday to celebrate my birthday. We live here in Tucson but still used Open Table to make a reservation (as we did at Salty's). When we arrived exactly at our reservation time the restaurant was crowded but we were taken immediately to a table with a "reserved" sign on it. We were seated right next to large window with a beautiful view of the mountains behind the resort as well as the outdoor portion of the buffet where the BBQ tables and grills were.
I was having a tooth problem and was restricted to items that did not require a lot of chewing so I concentrated on the seafood bar which was well stocked with fresh shrimp, oysters, mussels and sushi. I then found a platter with smoked salmon at the salad bar and got more than my money's worth there. I should also mention that from the moment we sat down our champagne glasses were kept filled until we stopped eating. (you can also have unlimited Mimosas or craft beer)
My wife, not being handicapped with a bad tooth, immediately went out to the patio and came back with BBQ chicken which she proclaimed to be superb as well as the BBQ'd veggies. There was also BBQ beef, prime rib and other meats available.
The last course was at the dessert table and the choices were almost overwhelming. The variety of desserts was amazing and delicious and was topped off by one more glass of bubbly.
The service was hard to rate as all they really had to do was take away the dirty plates and fill our champagne glasses but it was done cheerfully and efficiently and added to the enjoyment of the whole dining experience.
Whether you live in Tucson or just visiting, I highly recommend the Sunday Brunch at the Canyon Cafe.
I ate sushi and a cake. Sushi is not sushi, Too cold and poor ! 2 or 3 years ago, cake had more selection but this time was not cakes. only cookies, I do not like them.
Love the food, service, and the place. thanks for everything!
