Cantinetta Ratings and Reviews
Fun place, great atmosphere. Service could be more. Wait people were great, but not good at reading our minds. For example, I had to ask for bread to soak up the juice from my clams. Who wouldn't need bread for that. Otherwise, very friendly, warm, noisy, neighborhoody. I'll go back in the summer and sit out in the sidewalk eating area. Very inviting. Will definitely recommend.
Great little spot, tucked into the Wallingford neighborhood. Grabbed a pre-dinner drink across the street, then were quickly seated right after they opened at 5:00. Our server was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and had very thoughtful recommendations. The menu is focused and relatively simple but delicious. Prices are reasonable. We’ll be back!
Terrible experience at one of my typically favorite restaurants in Seattle. Reservation at 8; told it would take a “few minutes” and weren’t sat for over an hour. We were also made to feel badly for reacting frustrated, hungry and impatient. We were offered a $45 gift certificate if we wanted to leave early which would barely cover an entree. Sad!
Fabulous food, altho the market fish of day dish was mostly a collection of brambly frissee with lumps of cod on top which didn't feel like it was worth the $30 price. This place was WAY too loud for us on a Saturday night and we found it hard to have a conversation. Will likely not return on the wknd again. But the atmo is absolutely lovely and romantic and the food was pretty delicious!
We were there for dinner with friends on a rainy night. The room was so welcoming, we were greeted warmly and loved our table. The restaurant is very loud which was our main challenge. Our server was very friendly and provided great service. Don't go here expecting quick delivery of your meal, it is leisurely and allows plenty of time for visiting and enjoying the experience. We started with the pork belly and arancini and loved them both. We ordered a bottle of wine with input from our server and she did not steer us wrong. We ordered two beet salads to share and they were delicious. Three of us had the rigatoni with fennel sausage and loved it. The other person had a pasta dish with mushrooms and was very happy with it. We ordered two desserts for the table. One was an excellent panna cotta and the other was a cake with figs that was dry but had good flavor. We love the ambiance of this place and will return often.
We had been to Cantinetta last year and were quite taken, which is the reason we went back. We were, however, VERY disappointed at this visit. We were seated back in a corner, patrons who arrived well after us got water, their cocktails/wine and bread before we did. The owner(?) took our wine order, then it was at least 25 minutes before we got our wine. We had to ask for it because it hadn't arrived until after our first course was delivered! The entire evening was slow, and there was clearly not the staff on duty to take care of a very full restaurant. We could see only one other server besides the owner. The hostess was serving food, the bus staff was serving food - chaotic at best! Sorry, Cantinetta - we won't be back.
Went during Restaurant Week to explore since we had never been there. Nice that all items were standard from menu not made up just for event. Excellent food and service. A bit noisier than we would have liked but not overwhelming. We definitely go back and add it it to our list. Menu changes frequently with some nice variants to usual Italian fare making them unique but familiar with great taste and variety for a small menu.
Best restaurant in Seattle. This is the go-to for my husband and I any chance possible. The service is the best in town and the food is incredible. Whether in an intimate setting or with friends and family it's always perfect. This is one of those places you'll continue to come back to after you move out of town every trip you're back. Fortunately we're not going anywhere soon.
I usually do not eat salmon out at restaurants, as it is often overcooked. However, I took the plunge at Cantinetta and boy am I glad I did. The salmon was a thick filet and was tender/juicy. I was beyond impressed. My date had the tagliatelle was also stellar. Then came dessert. We split an order of gelato/cake combo which was sitting in a puddle of fig/balsamic reduction and OH man was that incredible. The cake was madeleine like and was complimented by the vanilla gelato. It's a shame that licking a plate in public is considered rude lol The waiter was also nice enough to indulge me by bringing some straight balsamic reduction over to the table so my girlfriend could try it directly on the gelato. Highly recommend this if you have the opportunity. Using a balsamic reduction or well aged (read 20+ years) balsamic on gelato is a stellar combo. :)
Good is good but the service was clearly overwhelmed on a busy Friday night. Our server pressured us to order quickly and it felt like we were being unsold on food and drinks. Most bothersome was that it was deafeningly loud. Literally my ears were ringing at the end. Maybe this is a better fit for a quiet weeknight dinner.
A friend and I ate at Cantinette. I am a vegetarian; she is not. I had the mushroom ragu and my friend had the bolognese. Both of the dishes were delicious. My friend also had a simple salad with a balsamic dressing which I grabbed a bite of. We both really liked the salad. My dessert was zepolle which were cooked fresh; Cantinetta does zepolle right. My friend had blackberry crumble which she loved.
Service was exceptional especially since we overstayed our time by a lot. We were there from 5:30 to 8pm and I forgot to tell the server to let us know if they needed the table.
We are old customers and returned from our home in Montana for a special meal with our kids. The food was (as usual) excellent, but the quality of service, once so good, has slipped dramatically. The staff seemed moody and harassed; the vibe was vaguely unhappy. Where is that wonderful Cantinetta staff of yesteryear? It seems much more ordinary than in the past.
We took my 93-year-old grandmother here for dinner. She is hard of hearing. I was nervous about the seating and noise level, I called the restaurant and they accommodated our needs. The food and wine list was superb. The food and wine reminded us of our recent trip to a Tuscany. We made reset to come back.
