We were excited to celebrate our anniversary dinner and were very disappointed. The food was good, not great and the service was terrible. We were seated right away and sat for about 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us. Our waiter wasn't friendly when he approached us and kept disappearing before taking our order. Our food was less than expected for the price. We left the restaurant very disappointed. I felt we could have cooked dinner at home better than they did. Happy Anniversary to us!
I frequently eat at Cantinetta because their food makes this vegetarian very happy. I started with the bread soup with gigantes beans and it was very flavorful; my nonveg dinner mate wishes she had gotten it. Second was a mushroom risotto which was really good. I am picky about risotto and only trust 2 Seattle restaurants to make it; Cantinetta is 1 of them. I am also picky about bread pudding and theirs didn't work for me as it was mostly a solid chunk. However, their zeppole are delicious, note to self. Although I did not have pasta this time theirs tends to be creative and delicious. Our server whose name I sadly don't remember was very helpful.
Our reservation for for 715PM. We were not sat until 750PM. We showed up a little early so it made for a very long wait. Once seated our waiter took a long time to greet us and get our dinner and drinks going.
Great food, great buzz. Interesting menu that always seems to have something new that is great
Just OK. Early reservation, so for the first 30 minutes, the noise level was tolerable. Once the place filled up, very loud. Service was great. Beer was flat. Food...so so. Salad and bread were great. Pasta sauces were thin, “homemade pasta” was dried, boxed quality. Desert was bland, dry and not worth it. The ‘caccio e pepe’ was very light on Pepe and Caccio.
We are picky New Yorkers who eat out a lot in our neighborhood and everywhere and we were delighted with Cantinetta from starters to dessert! The arancini were crunchy, creamy, smokey and a great contrast to our fresh light salad. DH loved the ribollita soup and felt the same about the gnocchi with sun dried tomato and burrata. My pasta was a rich tasting but somehow lightly sauced mix of speck and smokey scamorza cheese. VEry sophisticated but accessible. We couldn't pass up citrus panna cotta which was a very happy ending. The wine choices were fine and well-priced. We love neighborhood restaurants and wish this one was in ours!
We had an exquisite experience all around, from the gentleman who greeted us at the door to our server and the support staff. The place smelled amazing upon entry and the food was outstanding. Truly a gem!
cantinetta is always wonderful! ! the food is always amazing and you can't beat the cozy neighborhood feel!
Service was not as good as it normally is when we come in. We had to wait a very long time for menus and drinks.
Lovely dinner on a snowy night in the neighborhood. Ambience was warm and friendly. The mushroom medley appetizer was flavorful and woodsy. The beet appetizer was ok but nothing special. I wouldn't order the homemade bread again. It was a focaccia style but was dry and not flavorful.
Loved our pasta dishes - ravioli with duck confit was yummy and the bolognese was outstanding. The wine list did not suit our taste as it lacked any hefty fruity reds. I am lactose intolerant and always wishing the chefs would supply something I can eat for dessert besides sorbet.
Gloria was a great server. She greeted us with a huge smile and made the evening memorable.
One of our favorite restaurants. The beets and mushroom side dishes are excellent! Pastas are always great. House wine is even good!
One of the best meals I’ve ever had!! Truly shocked by the flavors that came together like nothing I’ve tasted before.
This was our third time at Cantinetta and each time has been a really great experience. Cantinetta has become one of our favorite restaurants.
We enjoyed a gift certificate for our immediate family. The ambiance is charming. The servers were friendly, helpful but unobtrusive. The food was delicious. This was our introductory visit to Cantinetta, but won’t be our last.
Great local Italian spot. Not pretentious, good wine list, great bar and super helpful staff.
We were celebrating a friends birthday and holidays and it was perfect! We always have a great time there. Waiter was great, recommended awesome food and wine, super timely and attentive. Atmosphere was perfect, dim lit and cozy. Only thin I would recommend is a thick curtain to shelter tables from the cold that comes in when the door opens! So chilly! Over all we will keep coming back!
No other restaurant in Seattle matches Cantinetta.
Special and amazing as always, never disappoints!
Spectacular meal with very friendly but professional service. A little on the pricey side, but worth it. We'll be back.
Cantinetta never disappoints! We visit frequently and love the food every time. Had house red wine this time and it was lovely. Salad is as I like it: room temperature and lightly dressed. Tagliatelle Bolagnese (sorry for the misspelling) and rigatoni with wild boar were delicious. Bread pudding with cherries—yummy!
We stayed long at our table on a very busy Friday evening and were politely and tactfully asked if we would mind moving to the bar, which was handled perfectly. Thank you!! Again, Cantinetta never disappoints!
The food was really good!! And the service was amazing! I totally recommend this place for anyone who wants to have a good time, in a nice place with a really delicious food :)
Nice, small neighborhood joint. Very noisy at dinner time when the bar is full. Food is good but very small portions and done ala carte, so they expect you to order appetizer, salad, soup, entrée, vegetable side dish and dessert to get full. It would be very expensive if you did that. Food tasted good. Very dark and noisy at dinner time, so it was hard to see menu and hear and visit with friends. It would be good to create some noise control or separation between tables.
We loved it—plan on going back soon!
The single candle in middle of table in dark room is hard to see around. The constant changing of plates and changing silverware is disruptive. But the food and waitstaff and other ambiance is great.
Absolutely the best Italian food in the city at a really reasonable price. The staff is the best!
Excellent service. Delicious food, we'll definitely be back.
We have gone to this place for as long at it has been there. It was always a go-to neighborhood restaurant.
Alas, the times they are a changing (Dylan.) Menu items are up scale now, smaller sized and wine bottles are well... $60 was the cheapest red. Next tier was $80 and the next was … !! House red (in this- the land of fab red from Yakima) was neither local nor good.
Some unique items: small dessert beignets and fabulous hand made pasta, and home made bread.
Nice bar to eat alone at but noise is over the top; it has always been like that.
All-in all - from first cabin to average for prices.
My wife and I ordered the truffle vermicelli special at our server’s recommendation. Everything else she recommended was very good, but the vermicelli was bland and tasteless. Almost like something was left out. Our guest was pleased with her choice and we didn’t want to spoil the mood so we didn’t say anything at the time. Cantinetta is usually excellent but we were very disappointed with our meal. I just hope this was a one off experience and not a trend.
Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait 15 min for our table. The food was cooked well but the flavors were very bland. Overpriced for the amount and quality of the food.
Lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere. Will definitely return.
There's everything in the world to adore about this neighborhood gem, from the superior service and thoughtful, delicious menu to the lovely space and delightful bar program. Love!
I love this spot... but the food seems to be going downhill a bit. The vibe, the bar, the ambiance is awesome. The food has gotten increasingly heavy to the point of almost greasy... they definitely need some lighter menu options to balance out the heavy dishes.
Love the place. The ambiance is the best and you guys do a killer job!
VERY loud place! Cant hear across the table, sound levels well in the hearing damage range (80-90 dBA). Food good though! Needs better front of house management- weird poorly trained service and creepy mgt(?) guy lurking around. Front of house maybe not well set up for a busy night.
We were there for restaurant week, so I didn't get a sense of affordability but it was some of the best Italian food I've had in Seattle. The panna cotta was transcendent.
Cantinetta is one of our favorite restaurants and we dine there at least once a month. Having said that, our visit for for dinner during Restaurant Week was a bit disappointing. For $35 for 3 courses, I would have thought they could have come up with something more exciting than their regular papperdelle. The dessert was amazing
This is a short review. I am a vegetarian and every time I leave Cantinetta I tell them, "Your food is delicious." I just had the Ricotta Mezzaluna with Beets and Poppy Seeds, which sounds boring. I trust their cooking so got it and NOT BORING.
Way too loud in the restaurant. Couldn’t even hear people at my own table.
Small but inventive menu
