The restaurant was great, but I can't recommend it and won't be returning; staff informed us while there that the doors are being closed permanently. Hate to see a restaurant with very high quality food and service close; they are not always easy to find, even in Austin.
There are better options for Mexican food. Chicken and fish portions were skimpy. Several items were to heavy on line or salt. One the plus side service was friendly and responsive
The food was really good and our waiter (female) was super!
I went for my birthday dinner and this place was disappointing. The margaritas were way to strong, and the food was very average. It was overpriced for the quality. This place was empty on a friday night - so that says alot for a mexican restaurant downtown. There are so many better places in Austin to eat.
Considering we were a group of 13 people on Friday night of a biker rally in downtown Austin, TX , they did an ok job. We got in immediately prior to the reservation time. The one waiter we were given was totally overwhelmed, another waiter should have been allowed to help considering they were not packed. The bartender was overwhelmed as there was only one and it took a very long time getting drinks and cocktails. Overall, they could have been a bit more mindful of this large group and the tip would have soared. The food was good overall, hard to please everyone!
JUST DROPPED IN FOR EARLY DINNER & AVOID 6 PM TRAFFIC. FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, WAITER WAS ENTHUSIASTIC & KNOWLEDGABLE. THE ONLY DISAPPOINTING THING WAS TO LEARN YOU DO NOT BOTTLE & SELL YOUR RED SAUCE YOU SERVE WITH CHIPS. IT WAS SOOOO YUMMY!
I ordered one of their signature dishes and it was one of the best meals I have ever had!
Service was excellent.
Waiters were standing around because they were not busy but we were having to signal to waiters to get service. I don't like having to do this.
Terrible service, bad food and watered down drinks. I can overlook the service...maybe the server was new or having an off day (it wasn't busy) but the food was not good at all and the top shelf margaritas were really watered down. I won't be back.
Great for large groups - one of the few places in town that would even let us make a reservation for 16 people - but the food was just "meh." The guacamole was bland , and my pollo con whatever was just a tough rubbery slab of chicken with some canned spinach flopped on top. Given the high prices, I expected better. Won't be back.
The food was very good, service was fine. The brunch menu was great. The complimentary mimosas were an added bonus. They also validated my parking which was very nice.
My husband ordered a steak and you would think for the price it would be cooked as requested he first time and he had to send it back. Also, we didn't get our appetizer, once we got our meal we mentioned that we didn't get the appetizer. The food had good flavor but for and fine dining restaurant you would expect the cook to not over cook a steak for that price.
This was our first time here. We went here because it was close to the Moody Theater where we were going for a concert later. The food was great, the happy hours specials were great, and the best frozen margaritas!!
The restaurant was very close to the hotel we stayed at that we were able to walk to dinner. We were seated right away and our sever was very quick to acknowledge us. It was very cool to watch him make the guacamole in front of us. The drinks and food was amazing.
It was fine, but I thought he food was uninspired. I expected more with all the OT stars.
The outdoor patio is best for people watching
Combo fajitas
Terrific waitress, good food, upscale Mexican.
First time in Austin and would visit this restaurant again next time in town
Friendly and professional service. Excellent and authentic Mexican food. Always looking for an excuse to go back.
Great Mexican food in a tavern type atmosphere down the street from the JW Marriott. Food was authentic and service attentive. Will go back again!
I got to sit at the table in the corner of the restaurant on the corner of 3rd and Colorado. It was quiet there despite the crowd. The food was good and the service was too. Id recommend that table for a group of 4 plus for a meeting or something since it has hardly no distractions other than the window view.
The service was particularly attentive, our reservation party was promptly seated, and the food was perfect.
The décor and ambiance enhance this upscale Mexican food restaurant. My wife & I both ordered the Enchiladas Veracruz and loved it. The enchiladas were not smothered in verde sauce that often happens at other Mexican restaurants. They were lightly sprinkled with tomatoes, lettuce, corn chips & particles of cheese - not the melted kind at other restaurants. Rice & fresh cooked vegetables accompanied. Our overall dining experience was outstanding.
I have been to Cantina Laredo only a couple times, but the food has always been so delicious and very fresh and always hot when it is delivered to the table. I love their drinks and food selections! Highly recommend for a great downtown spot with authentic Mexican food.
I have not ever written a negative review, this is a first, but I promised our group I would. Saturday night, concert at ACL Live and they were not prepared, not even close. Overwhelmed wait staff, slow bar, slow food...and as it turns out, not very good (had to send one and should have sent two plates back) and very expensive food. Not even a sympathetic manager to the plight of the entire restaurant. Too bad. I will not return
Kevin, our server was really sweet and patient while the rest of our party arrived. The margaritas were delicious!!! I was not impressed by the guacamole though and the food was average. I did love the queso Blanco though! Would go back for drinks and appetizers!
Always a great time coming here, nice environment, friendly staff, wonderful food!
Couldn't tell who was our server. The food is not flavorful. Our food came out luke warm. I do not recommended.
We went during the afternoon on Christmas Eve, so that may have been why they food just wasn't that good.
I have been to Cantina Laredo several times through the years and always had an awsome time. This times was one of the worst ive ever had. It was my wifes birthday and due to bad she had a horrible time. Our friends that attended also had a horrible time. We saw the waiter twice, proper glasses for adult beverages werent avalible and when glasses arrive they had a horrible smell of old dish water. I ordered a steak and it never came, somehow someone forgot to even cook it. I finally got the steak once the rest of my friends finished thier meals
By far the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant.
We dined at Cantina Laredo as a party of 10 on a Sunday night where the restaurant was only about 60%-70% full but yet the service was very slow. The server were fairly quick about bringing the appetizers not too long after we ordered but they took almost an hour after we finished to bring out our entrees. Our server apologized for the slow service but the place was not even that busy when we were dining there. The Relleno De Camarones entrée was tasty but only lukewarm as if it had been sitting out for awhile before our waiter got around to bringing it to our table (I'm sure it would have been delicious had I gotten it right when it was prepared form the kitchen). Others in our party had the same comments regarding the temperature of their entrees upon arrival. We had all ordered margaritas and they were obviously watered down - when we complained to the manager about it, he was good about bringing us another round on the house that were much better. All in all, it was very mediocre at best. We probably would have had a much better experience eating at one of the many other Mexican restaurants in Austin.
Took a group from out of town- everything was ready, on time and accommodating. Food was better than most and service was outstanding.
We had reservations for a table of 8 on a very busy Thursday evening due to many events in town. Almost the entire restaurant was booked. 1. Our table was much too small for our party! 2. The restaurant was way under staffed for the number of bookings. 3. While very sweet and like able our server was awful. It was his 3rd night and had no help.
The food was excellent! The manager comped our meals which was much appreciated after a 3 hour ordeal. I believe on a normal night this restaurant would be fine and the food is very good. However, it is poorly managed and I wouldn't recommend it on a busy night.
Had the red snapper and it was unique and tasty. Would have given the food a five star if they had more beer choices and variety.
Service was slow better tex mex and ambiance elsewhere
I took my team to lunch yesterday as an appreciation and it was perfect for the 8 of us. Service was fantastic and the food was really great! The music was a bit loud but if that's my only complaint, then that's not bad.
I've been here numerous times and have had a pleasant experience every time.
Poor service- we were two and our waiter had a table of 10 so we got the bad end of the stick. Order was wrong and cold. He did offer to put in a new one but it took so long to continue to get his attention I was just done. Food is way over priced for the quality and atmosphere. Tried to order a margarita but he brought the check instead, not attentive bad listening skills.
The food and the drinks were good, not great. Unfortunately the staff was completely overwhelmed. Took over 20 minutes between drink order and food order. The first round of drinks took over 15 minutes to arrive. The second round of drinks never came (we did not get charged).
The kitchen was able to get our tacos out in a short amount of time, so props to those folks.
Have often visited cantina Laredo always enjoy the food. This last visit wasn't disappointing in the good department however the atmosphere was darker and less upbeat as before. Prices seem to have increased and the crowd was a lot thinner than befor
