A tradition in Boston’s historic North End. We have been serving generations of families, locals and tourists in the North End since 1931. People crave the taste of our food. Some say their mouths water just thinking about eating here. That’s why when we change even the slightest thing, they let us know it. Some things should stay just as they are.

Such a great experience! The staff was very fun and friendly. Everyone was helpful and polite and the environment was cozy and not loud at all. The food was excellent! I would recommend coming here for some authentic Italian!

After arriving, I realized I had been there before with my husband. This time we were with a large group of 6 adults and 3 young children (ages 4-8) and n infant. I'd imagine we'd be a lot to handle for the most seasoned waitstaff yet Andrew (and Amanda who was in training) managed our party with ease. Andrew and Amanda were friendly, easy-going and attentive, which helped make our 'experience.' Turning to the food, every last one of us was satisfied with our lunch choices. It was tough to choose from the start with so many great appetizers, pasta dishes and entrees. We ordered two calamari for the table and bruschetta--both delicious! I don't remember all the dishes on the table, but each looked as tasty as the next. I went with a favorite--potato gnocchi. We really enjoyed our time and never once felt rushed. A True Italian Experience! I'd definitely go there again so I have no problem recommending it to others!

Catalina Italiana is always our "go to" spot in the North End. The food is just delicious and if your lucky enough o get a seat at the small bar, all the better.

This restaurant is my new North End favorite! I have dined quite often in the North End but this place is cozy, comfortable and very reasonable. Wide selection of Italian dishes and the wait staff could not be nicer. I came with my Italian family and we loved it!!

Excellent all the way around. Great service at the bar. The food from the appies to the meal was perfectly done. The before and after drinks also hit the spot.
Would recommend this restaurant to everyone 😀👍🏼🤗

We made reservations for 7 for lunch. Always worried about dining with a big group, but the round table in the window was perfection! We felt like the only table in the house, while the restaurant was busy with the lunch crowd. The food was amazing, and we samples everything from the bruschetta, pizza's, meatballs and a seafood entree. The service was impeccable.

Experience was perfect as soon as we entered the door. Alberto welcomed us and gave us recommendations. He was spot on. We ordered 4 different entrees and each one was delicious. The service was timed beautifully to give us enough time to chat and enjoy our wine. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for a quiet evening, Cantina is NOT for you. It is a classic of the North End, always busy and noisy and fun. The manager works extremely hard to get people seated and insures that everyone is having a good time. The food is delicious.

On weekends, a wait for a table (even with a reservation) is to be expected. Find a spot at the bar, where you will meet interesting locals or tourists, and enjoy the experience.

We have enjoyed Cantina since we lived in Boston and go there on every visit back.

This was one of the best meals I have ever had!! The host was so kind and welcoming and our food was delicious. My boyfriend loved the veal parm and I am still dreaming about the homemade raviloi. Get the mussels as an appetizer with the garlic sauce -- amazing!!!

Not a great value and I'm fairly certain the prices on our bill didn't match the prices on the menu. Either way, $24 for a chicken parm that doesn't come with a side of pasta is kind of outrageous.

So glad we made a reservation as it was a very busy place for a Sunday evening. Everyone we talked to was very nice. The food was amazing and for being really busy we did not feel rushed by the wait staff. We would go back again.

Excellent food. Restaurant was quite busy and the server did not write anything down which resulted in a few mistakes. Also , the service was slow. Maitre'd was very personable. I will try it again hoping for better service.

We eat here every time we come to Boston to visit our son. This time some friends joined us for the trip. Being from New York we are use to some of the finest food in the world. Cantina Italiana has never let us down. Six people for dinner, Six happy campers. Great comfort food and a great wine list. What more does one need?

Cantina Italiana has been around for a long time and there is a good reason. The food is consistently good, although not great. It is not the place to go if you are seeking innovative cuisine. We were there with our adult children and one of their friends. We were seated in a lovely table in the front and the service was somewhat attentive. We ordered an appetizer to share, then a salad course and the main courses. The waitress was knowledgeable and helpful about the wine list. I ordered the shrimp scampi which I thought was very good, the way shrimp scampi should be. My 19 year old son had a chicken and broccoli dish that he said was the "best meal he ever had". The other people at the table were underwhelmed with their dishes, a sausage and pasta dish, the veal parmiagiana and the bolognese. The one big negative was that it took an extremely long time for our main courses to come after the salad course.....at least 45 minutes which I think is about 1/2 hour too long. I would recommend this restaurant for people who want authentic, traditional Italian food, in a place with a nice ambiance, but only if they aren't in a hurry.

Cantina Italiana provides authentic Italian fare without the tourist filled lines. Always reliable, ever pleasing - I prefer to eat at Cantina Italiana over most other places in the North End.

This place is consistently great - for 20 plus years now. The meals are reasonably sized (this is not Olive Garden) leaving room for coffee and torte, mussels are the freshest I've had in a long time, wine was good temp, and waiter was attentive and gave good suggestions. You know you're at the right place if the Host greats you and talks with you... love this place

Great food in a fun atmosphere. Service was exceptional and the food (particularly fresh pasta, seafood, and bolognese) was incredible. Our family had a wonderful experience and wouldn't hesitate to return! The only drawbacks would be if you didn't make a reservation, the wait can be long... and it is noisy, but that is part of the charm!

Very happy with our experience here, waiter was excellent , food was very fresh, hot and tasty. We had a nice table for our group at the front and as it was a festival night there were a lot of people in the North End so glad we had booked.
Definitely a place we will go back to for value and flavor.

Many times dined in the North End, first time at Cantina. We were late for our reservation and Alberto, the host, was extremely accommodating and happy to seat us. He is an absolute joy with his bushy white mustache and incredible charm. Sat in a nice secluded table and were served by Mario....top notch. Had the antipasti special app, my date had the Bombolotti alla Buongustaia and I had the Pollo Saltimbocca, both were absolutely authentic and wonderfully prepared. Mario told us that Cantina is the oldest operating restaurant in the North End, you can imagine the clientele that have eaten here. We will be back!

We enjoyed Cantina Italiana but were disappointed that the chef could not accommodate our vegan eaters. While there was pasta with tomato sauce available (a very expensive option for what it is), that was all there really was to offer. There was no attempt to create a dish from vegetables and pasta (pretty easy to do). Others in our party enjoyed their chicken parmesan, gnocchi, eggplant parmesan (unable to be made without cheese).
