About Cantina Beach Restaurant - The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne
All set to a backdrop of endless blue ocean and colorful, casually sophisticated décor, Miami"s only oceanfront, coastal Mexican restaurant, Cantina Beach presents innovative menu additions and daily specials inspired by Mexico's culinary regions, created by Chiapas, Mexico-native Chef de Cuisine, Andres Parlange. Vibrant hues of red and blue alongside espresso furnishings accent the cavernous, thatched palapa roofed restaurant, built by the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians. Plush lounges, tiki torches and a fire pit complement the natural oceanfront setting, which is so captivating in its beauty that the island's first settlers named the location, "favorite path of the rising moon." A Tequilier (tequila specialist trained in Mexico's Agave growing regions) Heriberto Ovideo offers recommendations on the restaurants 85 premium tequila selection, the largest 100 percent Agave tequila collection in Miami.

Cantina Beach Restaurant - The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne Ratings and Reviews
We went to have a nice Mexican meal.
Well it started great and had wonderful guacamole to
start. Home made at table side.
Mark our waiter was very good. We spilt the
Fish tacos and the braised chicken
They were ok but nothing more than that
The last dish frajitas was very good
The view makes it very nice
Overall decent place. Expected more for the Ritz Carlton
Casual, poolside Mexican restaurant at the Ritz Carlton. Of course the setting was lovely and the service very good. The appetizers were large and delicious. The octopus was very tender and the ceviche was perfect. The price for meals (mostly around $30 for entrees) and cocktails ($17 for a margarita) were ok. However, I didn't feel it was a good value because the Ritz charges $25 for mandatory valet parking on their property. Open table listed this restaurant as a $30 and under dinner restaurant. When you add the $25 parking charge, you are well above that.
Cantina is an open-air restaurant, adjacent to the pool area of the hotel. We had no problem walking the short distance from the hotel. It's more of a sundress and flat shoes place--don't wear stilettos. The view of the ocean is really lovely. And, even though the weather was intermittently rainy, we were fine throughout the meal. The food was good, the servers were pleasant, and the ambiance was just what we were looking for.
The restaurant was nice, a little bit pricey. We didn't like that on a Saturday night it closes at 10pm, also it is not fun that there is no cover pass way to get from the hotel to the restaurant, it was raining that night and hard to walk to the restaurant, everything outside was wet and hard to walk with heels under the rain. The food was great, service was good too, but next time we are choosing a restaurant that we can enjoy a late night with friends.
Beautiful restaurant with good service and nice live music limited menu and very expensive children's menu. $15 for a small bowl Mac and cheese with no sides. Really obnoxious price. They need to fix children's options at Ritz. No parent likes to feel ripped off.
Great food , Great staff.
My only issue was that the lighting was dim
I brought up this with my Waiter. Max he was so kind and professional , he told me the reason , I felt so bad after
The reason for the Dim lighting is that they have Sea Turtles that hatch there and the light May Confuse the beginning of their Journey
The food was great, our server was great, it was just busy for the amount of staff they had working. Small menu, and what's on there is very good. The view of the ocean is unbeatable. Only down side is you can run into the occasional smoker which if you don't smoke, can be a drag (no pun intended)
The calamari was great and skirt steak was very good. The really good meal in such a scenic setting on the water with the cool ocean breeze made for a really enjoyable dining experience. Andrew's service was very good. My only negative was the small, cheap plastic wine glasses. I understand having to use unbreakable glassware in the pool area but they make resin glasses that are a lot nicer than these little things (I have some beautiful full size unbreakable wine glasses for the boat). Hard to drink a $$$ glass of wine in a plastic cup. Still, all in all a very nice dinner on the ocean's edge.
Our party of 4 had a wonderful dining experience. The service was efficient and super-friendly. Head Chef "Cesar" came out and greeted us warmly and handicapped his terrific menu. Particularly good were the Guacamole Dip and the slow roasted pork ribs. We look forward to going back.
First of all, the service was really really great. Their pleasent smile and attentiveness made my evening. Secondly, the mexican food was yumm yumm. Variety of options. Something for everyone. Spicy Mango Margarita is a must-have drink there.
Servers and the Manager were all really attentive. Although, I had a little difficulty locating the restaurant, as its inside the hotel, but it was worth it. It really was.
The location is beautiful, great place for outdoor dining with the out-stretching ocean in front of you.
Must check out!!!
Service was great, and They invited us to two cups of champagne with strawberries. Also the restaurant offered us a red rose for my wife. The views are fantastic and you are in a Ritz hotel so the service and attendance is pretty good. The food was great as well, if you like Mexican food.
We went to the restaurant for the Miami Spice menu.
I ordered fish, and it was totally uncooked.
The good part is that they brought me a new plate and offered me a glass of wine for the inconvenience. They are attentive to customers needs and the service was good. Our waiter and the manager were really friendly.
Regarding the Miami Spice menu, the food was ok, nothing exceptional. I wouldn't go back.
for appetizer we ordered Guacamole. The guacamole was prepared in advance and they brought it to us in little bowls. For people who ordered Guacamole from the normal menu, the waiters prepared it in front of them with fresh ingredients. I think it shouldn't have such a difference between clients.
Furthermore we went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant closed at 9pm...I think it is very early.
We requested the Miami spice menu twice. Still, nobody brought them to us.
After 30 min they collected the regular menus. Then they came back to ask for our orders. Obviously, nobody at our table of 5 was in possession of any kind of menu.
Again, we told the waiter that we had requested the Miami spice menu.
Finally, he felt compelled to bring them. Didn't give us even the time to look at them and wanted our orders immediately.
We have been to several other restaurants during Miami Spice and were always treated well.
Don't participate if you don't want your customers to order from the special menu.
We had three out of town guests and were very embarrassed about the lack of hospitality and professionalism at this restaurant.
It ruined an otherwise nice evening in a beautiful setting.
As one would hope from a Ritz-Carlton, fantastic personalized service. They addressed us by name throughout the evening and brought us complimentary champagne as it was our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the Miami Spice menu - great options, perfect sized portions. Could not fault the evening - so glad we experimented and went here.
This cute little spot by the family pool at the Ritz Carlton is a great places for a quick lunch or dinner. We also had terrific beach side guacamole which was delicious. Although I didn't try and of them, I believe their big claim to fame is the extensive Tequila menu available for tastings, etc. It has great views of the ocean and sand dunes and is set attached to the family pool area. I had the Mahi Mahi which was terrific and my daughter raved about her chicken tacos. Again, the guacamole is a must.
Rene out waiter offered us a delicious dessert option of Tres Leches, which was decadent!!! We had terrific wait staff including Rene, who had an infectious warm smile when greeting you and made sure we had everything we needed. The warm breezes of fresh ocean air makes this a wonderful spot to enjoy some terrific, yet casual Mexican food. Worth a try if you are in the area.
I have gone to Cantina at the Ritz Carlton several times, I was never disappointed. The staff is very courteous. The food is not sophisticated, but delicious, and the portions are generous. The setting is by the beach, with partial view of the ocean. The atmosphere is quiet even when it is a family setting with kids. Overall, a place to go if you do not mind the high prices and $12 valet parking (validate).
The restaurant is located behind the Ritz hotel right on the water. It has indoor and outdoor seating. Sitting outside was really nice and there was also a guitarist playing live music at just the right volume. The food itself was good but not great but considering the whole package I would recommend it. It can be a bit pricy but also not overly expensive.
