   The appy's were all very good ( we tried them all) as well as the lamb and the cod dishes. Will definitely be going back.

   Service was kinda slow, food was plain (cod plate) , meat portions small ( chicken dish, and pork belly dish) and desert dull. We had a group of 6 , not suitable for a large group. Will not return for dinner . Three of us sent our cocktails back to have them remade ( I think they forgot the alcohol the Frist time) at $12 a drink , not cool.

   We brought friends to the restaurant (8) for Saturday brunch. Have been many times before without issues. This time however was horrendous. I seldom write reviews but this is an exception. 20+ minutes to get a coffee order in. Food took 45 - 60 minutes to come out. We sat there for a further 20 minutes after everyone had finished. 17 minutes on the dot for all of us to pay. Our waitress would just leave, and make us wait another 5 ish minutes prior to coming back. We were not informed gratuity was auto included with our party size. There was also no thank you, etc etc by said individual.. My favourite dish had undercooked vegetables with an overcooked egg. Bottom line, if you allow your standards to fall because you're busy, then expect to be less busy when people stop coming.

   Canteen has been our go-to for years now. We've celebrated there, bonded there and loved the food. And that seems to be changing. What was once near the pinnacle of food greatness in Edmonton is now a little saltier, a little less tidy -- worn around the edges (as it were) more than it used to be. Maybe it's some turnover in the kitchen; maybe it's a bit of complacency. Whatever the reason, I'd love to see more of that food pride back.

   First, we made a reservation, time was for 12 noon. Our table was not ready when we arrived (not their fault, we were early) so we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of coffees while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. Took over 5 minutes to receive even though we were seated right in front of the person who was making the coffee. The noise level in the restaurant was quite loud when we arrived (all tables were full), my husband commented on it and I had to agree that it did seem excessively loud for some reason - maybe not enough soft furnishings to absorb sound. Once the other people in our party arrived, we were seated at the table, right on time as per the reservation that had been made. Server was friendly and quickly brought water to the table along with more coffee that was ordered. It took quite a bit longer for the food to come out - I'm guessing more than 15 minutes, but it was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We would go back, despite the hiccups.

   Great service. Friendly and helpful and prompt. Nice cocktails and wine list. Good was outstanding. Great flavours in the fried cauliflower, Brussels sprouts (though I would have liked then a bit more crispy). We shared lamb shank and cod. Both fantastic. Mushroom risotto was tasty but small portion for the price. Overall very happy with our evening!

   Very noisy Made conversation difficult Food was great, server was very helpful with questions but The servers seemed too busy to manage and we waited several times for 5-10 minutes during our time there when we were ready for servers attention.

    Menu changes frequently, but it's always full of unusual, inspiring combinations with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. Try something that looks totally out there, and you'll be glad you did. Small plates and main dishes are all fantastic. Service is there when you need it yet the staff are kind enough to let you do your thing and enjoy your company, your drinks, your dishes. Great wines, beers, desserts, cocktails.

    We were quite late for our reservation and they still had the table ready for us when we got there almost an hour past our reserved time. They were very polite and friendly. The food was amazing. The servers were outstanding. Highly recommend.

    The food was good not a huge portion for the amount of money spent, It was very noisy I had trouble hearing our conversation. Service was good but a bit of a wait for your food.

    The first time I checked out Canteen was about 2 years ago and it was really really good! But this last week, we had high expectations but our experience was terrible ( not speaking about service that is, service was awesome). The chickpea fries were interesting and pretty good, but the shrimp appetizer was extremely bland. Our main courses, the lamb shank and the steak, were terrible. The lamb smelt extremely gamey like it was an old piece of meet. The flavours weren’t there at all. The steak also was very bland, sure there was vegetables around, but no seasoning on anything at all. Sorry, but I had much higher hopes for such an expensive meal.

    Great place to go for our first time. Appetizers were great. Entrees were as well. I wish I got the steak over the lamb, even though it was great I’m just more of a steak fine. Extremely friendly and courteous staff for the few people working. Highly recommended!

    It was our first time there and I would definitely go back. The food was excellent.... there were four of us and we all had different entrees, but they were all delicious. Service was perfect. We'd for sure recommend.

    Awesome homemade pretzel buns made by Chef Ryan. Excellent breakfast sandwich filling by Sean. The corn fritters are so good. I could eat just a plate of them. Spectacular service. Love coming here.

    Wonderful experience as always! We were served by the owner and she was so pleasant! Food was prepared perfectly. Their brunch menu is small, but it is so well thought out. Their pork belly and lemon ricotta flapjacks are to die for!!!! Can’t wait to come back and eat here again.

    My husband and I love Canteen and are never disappointed with the food or cocktails. We usually come for brunch and my husband loves the feature chicken & waffles (he hasn't had one yet that he didn't like) and I am in love with their Dutch Baby Pancake (order a side of the brown sugar bacon with it to make it even better!). The only complaint we ever have with Canteen is the noise level. It's a popular place and you definitely need a reservation for brunch, but because of this, it can get quite noisy. Still worth it though for the amazing eats!

    FINALLY went to Canteen after years of eyeing it on 124st. Was pleasantly surprised with how chiq and cool the interior was. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was incredible. You will not be disappointed!
