One of the rare times when the experience was just average at Canoe. Appetizers foie gras and mushroom soup were good, but the taste profile for the burrata left a lot to be desired. For the mains, the risotto and duck were average, but the bison was much better than expected. Desserts were generally a disappointment; the sugar tart wasn’t good at all and the chocolate torte was average, but the rhubarb cheesecake was generally good. There was also an issue with one of the cutleries that was taken care of immediately. The only saving grace was the service!
Excellent service, excellent food a great place to bring out of towners.
I celebrated my birthday there. It was such a great experience.
Perfect place for a lunch meeting. The ambiance is great and lively as well as the scenic view that sets the tone, especially for a business meeting. Sometimes the noise level gets a bit loud but well worth your time here. Never had a problem with anything at Canoe and will continue to visit when I am in Toronto.
Amazing experience for a birthday celebration. Great service and food with wonderful views. Definitely will return!
Superb food and presentation, and warm professional service. Our 'go-to' place for special, celebratory dinners and lunches. Still going strong after so many years, and a real gem for Toronto.
This was much more than a dinner. It was an experience. The view was spectacular for starters as was the seafood platter full of fresh oysters, shrimp and incredible sauces. Then we asked our waiter to surprise us with the entrees and everything was perfect. Gorgeous presentation and indescribable preparation of bison, lamb, rabbit and Sable fish blew us away. Whatever you do, DO NOT SKIP DESSERT! The Rhubarb White Chocolate cheesecake simply has to be seen and tasted. Can’t say enough about how satisfied we were with this incredible experience. Special thanks to our waiter, Alex Marks. Ask for him and tell him to just make dinner memorable. You won’t be disappointed.
110% satisfying experience for the four of us! Food, drink, atmosphere and service all top grade plus.
We took two business colleagues to Canoe for dinner, and both clearly loved the experience and the meal.
The view is beautiful. The food was unique, special and exquisite. The presentation was eye catching and enticing. The wine menu was extensive, provided great variety, and our waiter provided excellent suggestions. It was a great environment for both business and casual conversation.
A truly special evening.
Came here for lunch on a Friday with party of two. Ordered the cured salmon +crab, arctic char (or at least that's what I asked for), and strip sirloin. Server was attentive overall, though he did mix up my order. Before ordering, I mentioned to him I wanted to get the arctic char but wondered if he had other recommendations. He recommended the halibut, but I said I'll stick with the char, thinking the halibut would be too bland.
The food was good, including dessert (chocolate + english mint was great)... except for my fish, which was so so. When the bill came it said "halibut" instead of "arctic char". When I asked the server he was adamant that I had ordered the halibut, though I clearly said otherwise, as my party had heard also. I didn't press the issue further, and it wasn't a huge deal (perhaps my fault for not asking sooner during the meal whether the char was supposed to be so bland tasting). However, saying "sorry if I misheard you" would have gone a long way instead of being overly defensive right away.
In sum, two stars taken off for the mix-up and so-so fish, but everything else was good.
I've eaten in just about every restaurant in Toronto. Wouldn't rank this in the top 100. Great service and wine, but the steak was no better than the worst steak I've had at a basic Keg.
Mains were average at best.
Appetizer salad and cake/ice cream dessert were quite small and had about $2 worth of ingredients in them at best.
Nothing bad about the restaurant or service, but not even close to being worth the price, and I don't mind splurging with them best of them.
Thank you for the awesome table window side overlooking the CN tower. Have requested it in past but unable to get it. This visit was awesome!!!!
Wonderful food - amazing service by our attendant. David was very engaged and helped with wine choice, entree and desert. All 5 star.
It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we were treated very well, including a customized menu, super attentive waiter who knew why we were there. Great food as always, nice wines, great ambiance. Thanks for making it extra special for us.
The food was awesome as was the service and our table was perfect by the window with the spectacular view. My date was thoroughly impressed which was my main objective.
Excellent all around
I really liked this restaurant! It was very good to great, but I cant say it was "outstanding".
The views and ambiance are fantastic, the room has a great vibrancy and is designed quite well.
The service is incredible but the food I think was a bit over-rated to be totally honest. I would say 7 out of 10 but not outstanding. Great menu but for me ( I ordered the pork dish), I thought the dish didnt have enough flavour. Presentation was perfect but the flavours werent really there.
Great wine list though!
Ambience was great , service was excellent.
But I’m still not sure what We ate it was not worth the money !!!
Amazing!!! Excellent waitress! Bravo to Chef! Thank you so much!
Nice to see that this Bay St icon still has an excellent kitchen. The service is not up to scratch - it was astoundingly disinterested despite bursts of French service gestures.
I love this restaurant , I went for my birthay . good Service , The Food it’s excellent . And i love the drink that the bartender recommend me . It was delicious
Amazing views of Toronto
The waiter that was servicing us was excellent
Nice bread and dip
ALL the dishes that we ordered had deep fried and extremely oily leaves and vegetables that ruined our palette
The worst pasta I ever had in a good restaurant. It is written as risoni rissoto - in fact it's an orzo dish. It was cooked so much that it's texture was like eating a soup.
The portion of the risoni rissoto was less than a portion of a starter. THE DISH WAS LISTED AS MAIN AND I PAID FOR IT 36 DOLLARS EXCEPT TAXES AND TIPS
ALL dishes were on the small size and ALL prices were on the large size.
There was no option on the credit card machine to dial the amount of tips I WANTED to offer. Just imagine that the lowest amount that was suggested was 35 DOLLARS.
Too too too noisy open plan kitchen. Noise of Pots and pans, chefs shouting, machines and mixers overwhelmed everything.
IT'S not nice for a hostess to ask before saying hello, good evening, how are you, welcome, the question - You have a reservation?????
As a resto critic, I do not intend to repeat this experience again, if things don't get better.
Great Place to dine in for special occasion.
However the least the restaurant can do is to validate the parking ticket. I have dined in once for dinner but when i went for lunch last week, they said that they cannot validate for lunch!!! why ???? what's the different. Paying $30 parking ticket in addition to $250 bill is ??
The food was delicious, service exceptional!
Arguably the best restaurant I've ever been to. The chicken dish is to die for! For dessert, the chocolate torte and midnight express are top choices. The service, ambiance, and view was also fantastic! Love this restaurant!
overrated -left restaurant hungry - a rip off -couldn't eat one of the desserts - main course was
The food was amazing.
Best food I have had in Toronto. I don't say that lightly. I have been to the best in Toronto.
This was fantastic
Canoe can be relied on for excellent Canadian cuisine and service. It has never disappointed me.
It has been a few years since I last ate at Canoe.
Today, my wife and I met up with a long-lost cousin of mine at this Toronto stalwart for lunch. To welcome this, way overdue, re-union of 40+ years, even the weather was accommodating and held off the rain, allowing us to stroll to the restaurant from the subway station ( I deliberately avoid the notorious downtown traffic and parking by not driving )
I was extremely happy to find out that the restaurant had listened to my request and assigned the 'second best table' in the house to our party. The amazing bird's-eye, lake and skyline view, coupled with our table's location next to the open kitchen, heightened our luncheon enjoyment tremendously! ( BTW, I noticed so much has changed to our Toronto skyline during these few short years. The number of new condos were amazing! )
Our meal, chosen from a 'Canadian' themed menu, was of high quality, incorporating some interesting local and Canadian ingredients. Food was lovingly prepared and presented. Both fish and meat protein were expertly cooked. My wife and cousin both raved about that piece of perfectly executed BC Halibut! Crispy on the outside and so moist and juicy inside!
Service, with lots of attentive, smiling staff roaming around was extremely friendly and professional. Our server 'Juan Carlo' in particular, chipping in some timely humor through out our meal and offering me a firm and friendly ' Au-revoir ' handshake was a nice touch!
Our meal came to $220 for three, all inclusive ( beverages included a glass of Cave Spring Riesling and two pots of Earl Grey Tea ). Reasonable for a fine dining establishment.
Overall a great meal with great company, good food and super-gorgeous view!
The service is excellent, I found the food very good.
Absolutely amazing! Food was delicious and service was fantastic! Such a pleasure!
Great spot! Worth the extra $
Our family was visiting Toronto for the first time, and Canoe was highly recommended by the concierge of the hotel. Having eaten at some amazing places around the world over the years, Canoe certainly ranked as one of our best dining experiences. The combination and presentation of flavors, textures, and quality of the food was incredible. The modern and clean interior design of the restaurant was matched by the sleek elegance of the skyscrapers around us. Congratulations to the chef and his team for giving us this wonderful culinary memory!
My overall experience was more than perfect. I was there with my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday. The server made an effort to acknowledge her birthday and offer to switch the main course of the tasting menu to one from the regular menu with no extra cost when we asked. All dishes were decorated nicely and food taste good, cook to perfection and ingredients very fresh. Will definitely on my re-visit list for a special occasion!
Waiter so nice and professional. Introduce every dish, and great suggestion
The nice place for the date!
Hostess tried to seat us at a table facing into the setting sun , had to ask for a different table so that we could actually see each other
