Birthday dinner and first visit. Our service was fantastic and the experience was exquisite. Highly recommend the tasting menu. Excellent evening.
Very poor service ruined an otherwise fantastic experience. Our waiter clearly had a goal to clear the table, asking us if we could order not one, not two, not three but FOUR times within 10 minutes of sitting. He was generally rude and frankly came across as more interested in a tip than providing an experience. We ordered same dish, one rare one medium meat, despite both arriving rare he pretended one was medium... as though we would not notice. Disappointing from an otherwise great restaurant.
Service from the waitstaff was fantastic, and we felt very accommodated for our special event. When we mentioned a dish was not for us they quickly recommended a preferred option that was more to our taste.
Great service, will be returning for special occasions.
I had been wanting to go here for a while (seems like a Toronto classic), but it really disappointed, with respect to food and ambiance. My partner and I eat out often in TO and there are way better and WAY less expensive options out there
Always great atmosphere and great flavours!
Truly impeccable evening--exquisite service, perfectly paced, and luscious yet energizing food. And, of course, the view!
I have heard a lot of positive things about the restaurant and was looking forward to surprise my boyfriend on his birthday. I made a reservation about 2 weeks before the date and specified that it would be a special birthday celebration and asked for a romantic table. On the day of our reservation I phoned to confirm that my request was received and I was also informed that there would be a special complimentary desert with a candle. Unfortunately I didn't know that I should've requested the table by the window and so, our evening started sitting at a "romantic" table in the middle of the restaurant. I was told that no other tables were available.
We order appetizers and main dishes, which were tasty; but the latter came before we finished eating our appetizers and the waiting staff tried to take away our unfinished food so we had to tell them to leave our plates. The main dishes ended up being cold but at that point I didn't want to continue ruining our evening and so we didn't bother asking to warm them up.
At the end of the dinner, there was no sign of any complimentary desert with a candle. Not a big deal, as afterwords I was able to do that at home!!
So it was my first and last time at this restaurant.
Beautiful view, decent date spot, good service — very attentive and pleasant. However, the caesar salad was bad.
My first return to this location for fifty years, ie long before it became Canoe. It was not disapointing, as well it could have been. We will be returning !!
The food was delicious and the service was fabulous!!! Amazing scenic view!!!
I would recommend Canoe without a moment's hesitation.
Our entire party (of six) opted for the tasting menu (5 of whom opted for the wine pairing). The entire meal was outstanding. Very unique, creative and not something I would have picked off the menu myself. It was well worth it. I am not a wine connoisseur (it's all gasoline to me), however, my friends (all of whom were visiting Toronto from Quebec) all raved about the pairings.
A special shout out to our waiter. Sorry I did not get his name, however, he was tall, slim, with glasses and a great sense of humor. He did a great job of helping us and keeping us laughing as well.
Lastly, the view was incredible and made it a perfect evening.
II have lived in Toronto for more than 20 years and had never visited canoe, but I'm already planning my next visit in the near future.
The view is second to none, and the food well worth the price. Staff was incredible, very friendly and knowledgeable.
The view is fantastic and the food was good but the portions are small and over priced.
Worst table in the house! We booked two months in advance for a birthday celebration. We requested a table near a window obviously. I understand they cannot guarantee that. We got absolutely worst table in the house. The closest table to the front entrance and coat check! zero visibility to anything. Honestly we could have gone to diner so many other places in the city. The ambiance was supposed to be part of the attraction. Looking At a closet and entrance took away from our experience significantly! We booked so far in advance!
Amazing place. Prices but you get what you pay for so in that sense no complains. Very classy, creative, delicious and original, just a great atmosphere. Can't go wrong place for a special occasion or even just a casual classy date night. Complements to the chef and staff.
Just way too expensive for the food experience.
The view was spectacular and the food delicious -particularly the dessert! The server was just perfect and all the information provided with each course was interesting and enhanced the meal. The server was so knowledgeable about every item on the menu even including the wines. It was a wonderful memorable experience.
One of the best places for a dinner with someone special. Food is delicious, wine a bit over priced but some great choices. Staff knowledgeable. The view - hard to beat
The food was amazing. Great presentation and superb service. The view was incredible and the service was fast. Loved every minute of it
I tried the ontario burrata cheese. Having a,ways been a fan of Italian burrata cheese I thought why not. It was tough in the outside and not creamy on the inside. Very disappointing. I then ordered the pork. I should have paid closer attention as it was a bit of pork belly, bacon, and it looked like deli ham. I am sure it would have pleased many but just not t9 my liking. The view I believable and the service amazing. Atmosphere lovely. Tried our dining partners food gras, amazing!!!! So fro me it just was not my day.
How can I begin? The food quality and presentation was outstanding, the service top level and attentive, the ambiance and view truly excellent. In addition, we were late to our reservation due to traffic congestion, and the staff still accommodated us without fuss. The food featured authentically sourced selections from within Canada.
A note about our parking experience: as instructed, we parked our vehicle in the parking area under the TD Bank, made our way to the elevator which brought us to the underground shopping level, then walked to an escalator to the bank lobby, and there we took an express elevator to the 54th floor. After our meal, the restaurant staff validated our parking ticket and we were not charged for the parking.
My first meal at 54th floor was 1970 and then I have visited it many times, now less frequent as I live abroad.
The serious negative aspect was the noise, nearly impossible to hear what my partner. That was the first time I experienced such load noise.
Great food although the appetizers were not as strong as the mains. Staff accommodated the dietary restrictions of our group. View stunning as ever.
Excellent service from start to finish, menu was interesting and varied.
Stag tartare to start was unique and very tasty, bison rib eye was cooked perfectly, portion size was great. Hazelnut torte was also very good.
She had the tenderloin, apple terrine and some local gouda cheese.
We loved everything, look forward to coming back soon.
I think the view was the only thing we appreciated on this visit.
We ordered the following and most of it was bland/ not enough on any plate to satisfy any palate. The price per meal was in no way justifiable- the view was beautiful but that wasn’t enough to justify a $60 entree and $35-40 appetizer.
S’mores foie gras
Bison Rib eye + short rib
Quebec red stag
The only item that was of somewhat value was the hare cannelloni. But that too was a very Small portion. If you think spending $250 on appetizers and entrees excluding drinks and dessert is justifiable for the view make a booking- the view is beautiful but the food personally made me gag and my husband who ate this meal was still hungry after 🤣.
Reserved Canoe for my boyfriend’s birthday. Great staffs. Food was exotic and very nice.
Bustling Friday night.
It’s more suitable for a bar seating compare to a quiet formal dining, overall the food is tasty especially the desert.
We had an extraordinary experience at Canoe on Wednesday night, February 28, 2018. Service was above excellent, the sommelier was friendly and very knowledgeable (he definitely gave to our upcoming summer vacations in Nova Scotia a new goal: sampling NS wines!), and the food was heavenly. We heard about Canoe through chef Martin Picard and his TV show, and we had promised ourselves that we would sample the restaurant on our next visit to Toronto. We were not disappointed! We consider ourselves restaurant aficionados, we've eaten in some pretty good places around the world, and Canoe is way up there with the best!
Julie and I were celebrating a very special event, me being the recipient of the Sanford Fleming Medal from the Royal Canadian Institute for Science, and I was delighted to find 'Congratulations' written in chocolate on my desert plate. What a delicate attention! We were also treated with wine and cheese at the end of our meal, again a level of attention that is unsurpassed and so touching.
Nous vous disons donc : merci du fond du coeur pour une expérience tout-à-fait remarquable et inoubliable. Nous avons déjà hâte de revenir !

Phenomenal experience. David was our server and the attention to detail is second to none. I love taking clients to Canoe. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and were eyeing the plates around the table hoping to order one of them next time. Thanks for an incredible time.
You can understand why Canoe is consistently in the top rank of Toronto restaurants. They never disappoint. The food is tasty, interesting and beautifully presented. Service always top notch and the view of course is spectacular. Love going and worth every penny !!
Outstanding. Always a treat to truly enjoy excellent food and experience new flavors.
We were here to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The atmosphere was incredible, the decor was on point and service was impeccable. All of that and with some of the most incredible cocktails and food we’ve experienced so far in Toronto. We’ll definitely return.
Great tasting food. Excellent service.
Visited again after 20 years for lunch. Creative dishes and amazing service - as good as its reputation. Will return with my spouse for a special occasion dinner.
Great food and excellent service!
Business lunches ar always exceptional at Canoe. The delicious food, amazing service and best view of any restaurant is a winning combination.
We had a great time at this place....good food, ambience service! Congrats ! One of the best restaurants we've been in Toronto !!!
The food was exceptionally bad - stale bread, undercooked halibut, and mediocre dessert. The menu selection was quite disappointing as well. The view and service were outstanding though, which is why I gave Canoe a rating of 3 stars.
