The food was excellent, not afraid to try something I may second guess elsewhere because I know it will be phenomenal. Left feeling content, not hungry and not bloated. Definitely worth spending the extra money for the experience of a great meal. The meal was quite expensive but that is not a deterent, just makes me appreciate and enjoy the high quality menu. Do plan on one day returning for an occasion. Our desserts were brought out with Happy Anniversary written in delicious chocolate, tempted to lick the plates clean but decided it may have ruined the mood in the restaurant. Staff were all very friendly and polite. I highly recommend Canoe and had nothing but nice things to say about the restaurant to everyone I talk to.
Great view coupled with great food and service.
I appreciated the Comments and desert that were made for my friends birthday.
Where to start. For people who like to eat out when away from home, we're always a little skeptical of places we haven't yet tried. The staff was very friendly, from the front desk to the waiter. Food was incredible as was the service.
For appetizers, I had the foie gras (best I've ever had any where including Paris, France). My husband had the mushroom soup, equally as good.
For entrees I had the duck and my husband had the steak. Both were fabulous.
We found it hard to remember the last time we so enjoyed a dinner out. Everything was perfect. Couldn't find a thing to complain about.
We will definitely be back.
Canoe is the place one can count on whether for a special occasion or a business meeting. Food and service is always above par!
Excellent and expensive. Dishies, cooking and presentation have been improved years after years.
- went there for lunch on a weekday and didn't expect service to be so slow
- requested a special birthday note on the dessert but was not accommodated (request made during reservation)
Truly memorable and outstanding on all fronts.
I surprized my old friend who visited Toronto for one day meeting him for a "casual" lunch at Canoe.
Nice quet atmosphere and great view perfectly supported our no rush conversation.
Excellent all around.I appreciate the effort made in always finding a good table for me -particularly for out of town guests.
I had eaten here a few times but it was my hubby's first visit. We both really enjoyed our meals, the portions were generous. The service was as I would expect for a restaurant of this calibre. I requested a window table and they kindly accommodated our request.
My boyfriend and I had a nice time at Canoe. It was our first time and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The customer service was good but the server could have smiled a bit more. Quality food yet the price is really expensive for the quantity. It was a nice surprise when they wrote "happy anniversary" on the dessert plate. I made some requests and said it was my anniversary when I made the online reservation but I didn't think they would remember that. I would definitely recommend this restaurant especially for special occasions :).
We had read great things about Canoe, but I really can't give it high marks. I ordered the swordfish which was unevenly cooked and had pieces of cartilage and other inedible material. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the view is great. The service was OK but not the level we were expecting.
not worth it without the window view
It was Friday morning and my fitness class was cancelled, so thought I'd ask my daughter if she wanted to go for lunch. I didn't know where to go at first, so googled restaurants in the Financial District and saw Canoe and suddenly thought it would be a great place to go. The weather was perfect so I knew we'd have a perfect view. My friends and I try to get a reservation during Summerlicious or Winterlicious and it's always booked, so I wasn't sure I'd get a reservation, but I did. My daughter didn't know there was a restaurant on the 54th floor of a bank building, and was blown away by the view (I was too). Service was impeccable, food was wonderful and the company was amazing.
For a last minute thing, it worked out perfectly!
We had a 12 person group and our waiter took fantastic care of us. Drinks were never empty and meals were served to everyone simultaneously. The food here is inventive and delicious, always a treat! And the setting is the icing on the cake, absolutely gorgeous view of the city (55? stories up). Just as good of view as the CN Tower, but significantly better food and service. Thank you to the Canoe crew! Highly recommended.
Food was excellent -- portions exactly right -- you felt like, as a foodie, you were not being taken advantage of by a skimpy serving -- so even though pricey, great value. Service outstanding.
We've been to Canoe many times. This was the least satisfying from a food standpoint. A main dish was presented without all of the accompanying garnishes and the vegetable with it was steamed broccoli -- appropriate for a chain restaurant but not what one goes to Canoe for. On the other hand, the mushroom soup was magnificent, and the service was flawless. Fine, but slightly off of their game.
Ambience good. The food was way too busy. I like canadiana theme but most people i know dont want heavy stuff like this. Prime rib, duck, lamb, fois gras, covered in creamy sauces ughh. Place stunk like grease. My meal , skate, was greasy.
smaller portions and unique menu. perfect for foodies. not a place for children.
Great food, Great service, excellent wine list, and amazing views of Toronto.
The service, food, wine were all fantastic. We tried the Bison Carpaccio, Foie Gras, Maple Salmon appetizers. Entrees were St - Canut Pork Loin and Alberta Lamb, we finished with a selection of cheeses and Port. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
I made reservation for a birthday dinner. Family of five. For some reason I was expecting white linen on the tables, but we only had mats and I was hoping for a wow effect when we enter, but it looked as any other restaurant. So this is only negatives if you want to call them that. Positives - we got the best seats (CN Tower and sundown) WOW. All staff very professional. Great service. We tried 4 of 5 main dishes. All of them very good. This restaurant is on the expensive side, but for what we received - money well spent.
My friend recommended this restaurant on my visit to Toronto.
We had a reservation but we had to wait for 25minutes. It happens...
Food was great! Everything we had was really good.
Cocktail was little too sweet.. Service was good.
I'll come back here when I come to Toronto next time.
I was disappointed that we did not get a window seat, I made the reservation quite a while ago and requested a window. There were tables available, however we were told they were already reserved. Not sure what you have to do to get a window seat here...
Food was good, good wine list. Particularly enjoyed the oysters and the dessert. I think for the quality though this restaurant is overpriced.
Don't be put off by eating in the TD Dominion Tower (once of the iconic black Bauhaus glass towers in Toronto) as once you enter the world of Canoe you are transported to another place with the most amazing view over the downtown and the Toronto Islands.
Try to eat there around sunset.
Great creative Canadian fare using local ingrediants (mostly).
There are not enough creative words to describe the great meal adn wonderful service we recieved. Awesome comes to mind but that could be used to describe a simple landing on the moon or the city lights of Toronto. So i will search for a more appropriate word while i plan my next visit.
It's been about 5 years since we last went to Canoe. I'm pleased to say it was if anything even better than I remembered.
I'm interested in tea and when I asked the waiter about the Labrador Tea Duck, he only explained the dish, but brought a bowl of the tea and explained how the chef prepared it before cooking. The tea gave the perfectly cooked duck a lovely smokey flavour.
Great dining experience.
Made reservations through open table for our anniversary, right from the time
We made the reservations the people at Canoe were great. They were prompt in getting us a nice
Table by the windows (good to seat close to windows for view). The waitress
Was very knowledgable and her reccommendations for drinks, food,
Etc. Were superb. We had an excellent evening, the manager/supervisor personally
Came over to wish us a happy anniversary and he was so prompt to
Make note of us so when we come in next we could get a change at gettin a table with an even
Better view. Nice place for special occasions! Food seems fresh, the lamb was the best
We've had, the date pudding dessert was to die for! Cocktails and wine
Were also excellent. Great place!
Our first evening out in Toronto and it was an outstanding experience. We were greeted with a smile, bar staff were friendly and though we arrived early we did not have to wait long. And then it got just better and better. The waiters and servers were informative, helpfull, engaging and charming. The food was all one would expect and more from such an establishment. The sommelier, Joey Wilcox was just so helpfull and interested in what we as customers were looking for and what see joyed. All the staff were effiecient but never intrusive, helpfull but never pushy, they just wanted you to have a good evening.
Outstanding service, great food, lovely evening. Will go back whenever I am in town.
view was spectacular and ambience is special. Lunch attracts Bay Street crowd. Food was OK and prices are high
Had a fantastic time at canoe! Was beyond expectations. My roomate and her mom really enjoyed having dinner there. Thanks for the great service and nice view :)
Came for our anniversary, had a great seat by the window and the kitchen. Had the 'Taste Canoe' for $100. All the savoury courses were fantastic, but the desert and petite fours left a little to be desired. The staff were more than happy to answer questions about the food. Our only real complaint is about the pacing. At least ten minutes from when our plates were cleared to whern the next course came. And then, between the main and desert our waiter asked if we'd like to take our time. We said ok, but 45 minutes later we still didn't have any desert, no drinks were brought, and in that time frame, our server never checked to see if we were ok or if we needed anything. This delay actually caused us to miss our evening plans at the tiff.
We went recently for a retirement celebration and had a wonderful meal with impeccable service. Definitely recommend for special occasions - you won't be disappointed!
The food and overall ambience of the restaurant was great. The only negativee being the dress code doesn't seem to be adhered to and I see customers walking in in street clothes that are neither business casual or smart.
View is spectacular, I'd go for that, food is good enough, and service better
Canoe is consistently fabulous. Even though everyone knows that it is the ideal corporate restaurant, one little known secret is that they cater to the very old and very young very well. My kids and the parents' ask to go to this restaurant by name!!
Food was good. Bus boy was very polite. Waitress was rude and pretentious but warm and friendly to a couple beside us who obviously came from money.
Our "second class status" did not deserve her etiquette. Although we were dressed appropriately for the restaurant.
Everything was perfect.....the food diverse and outstanding, the service impeccable, the views were spectacular,
great place for a romantic occasion. Would highly recommend going there
We chose this restaurant as our place to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. The views from the 54th floor are stunning and sets a high expectation which was met. The food was gorgeous and creative- interesting taste combinations and wonderful wine choices. The service was top notch and some of the best we've encountered even though we have eaten at similar places all over the globe. Would highly recommend and will be back!
