About Canoe Restaurant and Bar
Critically acclaimed to be among Canada’s best restaurants, Canoe's unique location high atop the TD Bank Tower affords a breathtaking view of the city and Lake Ontario. The design, originally conceptualized by noted designers Yabu Pushelberg and most recently refreshed by Anacleto Design, is clean and simple, yet absolutely stylish - a brilliant reflection of Canada's rich raw environment. That same brilliance is captured through the flavours and textures of Chef John Horne's inspired regional Canadian cuisine. The menu showcases the freshest and finest Canadian fish, game and produce, as well as an outstanding selection of Canadian vintages. "All that is Canadian defines Canoe." Canoe Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
The portions were extremely disappointing, not to mention the ridiculously overpriced food. The kale salad tasted absolutely terrible. The Atlantic halibut tasted amazing but it was the size of a golf ball. The desert was great but overall we left slightly disappointed at the portion sizes and prices.
I would say the service at Canoe has not been as good as before since the minimum wage of Ontario was raised. We did not feel welcomed, our server looked impatient while we were waiting for our friend who’s late, nobody had ever explained the dipping for the bread......the food is about average, which reminds me that Canoe used to be one of the top restaurants in Toronto.
Very disappointed indeed(I went there on Valentine’s day and the service was even worse)!
Canoe never disappoints. Fine dining at its best! Great service from Jesus and nice wine presentation from David (Sommelier). Amazing views from high atop this vibrant city. Although, next time we will sit at the kitchen bar and watch the magic unfold behind the scene.
Honourable mention for the parking validation and free electric vehicle charging stations. Thank you for a wonderful date night.
Last day of winterliscious and they were so gracious and classy. Helpful, efficient, even though we were paying so little and weren’t regulars. The food was exquisite in presentation and taste. The portions were modest but I would always prefer to leave satisfied rather than stuffed. I’m coming back!
The food at Canoe is amazing. I had vegetarian lasagna and wow it was so delicious. The service was bad for a place like Canoe. Some of the staff was nice but the person who was assigned to our table was not attentive. I had to ask for my bill from another waitstaff. Also, the hostess was not very nice or warm. I have been to many O&B restaurants but this was the worst service I ever had.
I went during Winterlicious. The food was excellent (my spare ribs was tender and doused with a very tasty sauce). Each dish was described personally by staff as it arrived. The view of Lake Ontario, the Toronto Islands and Billy Bishop Airport is spectacular. The service was attentive and friendly, making my party feel comfortable. When they found out it was my birthday, a candle and a "Happy Birthday" piece of cake arrived.
The host and our waiter was extremely friendly. He really took care of my dietary restrictions. There was complimentary whole wheat pumpkin bread with chickpea hummus spread. I had whole wheat allergies so they kindly changed it to corn bread with butter. During the winterlious, we tried all their drinks and our favourite is mago mule non alcoholic. Our starters were good, we had salmon and some paste substance salad. The main course, was really good for the pork dish at least, not a fan of how they cooked the short ribs. When i hear short ribs, i think about a rack but the short ribs that was served didn't look anything like i imagined. It was not bad, but it wasn't excellent. And the dessert was "meh", my pear dish possibly costed the restaurant like $1.50 for ingredients and labour to make. Overall good food and service. Dessert needs improvement big time.
The view from 54the floor of TD Dominion centre is incredible. We were seated on the west end of the restaurant with an unblocked view of CN Tower. The kitchen is open style and looking at the chefs preparing the dishes in an orderly fashion while eating your meal is a very interesting experience.
We visited Canoe during Winterlicious and service was great. I asked about one of the ingredients in a cocktail and 2 minutes later the waiter was back with a sample to have me try it out! The food was delicious however the dessert were a little bit disappointing, as everyone at our table left there plate almost full. Maybe the choice of the desserts was not as interesting for us, as the waiter explained there was much more choice in the normal menu.
And WOW, this pumpkin chick pea bread spread was AMAZING!!!
My boyfriend and I dined here for dinner during the Witerlicious event and it was also our first time. Overall, it was a good experience.
Since I'm still new in Toronto, I was excited to try Canoe 'cos I've been seeing scenic pictures from people who went here like the Toronto landscape at night including CN Tower. Unfortunately, our table wasn't near the windows so I guess you should request that ahead.
The taste of the food wasn't that memorable but well-presented. Maybe, it was just because of the Winterlicious event. Our server was very attentive. The atmosphere had a fine-dining touch during dinner time, which was a nice change for our usual casual dinner dates. However, it wasn't that peaceful since it was packed during the event.
It was nice and the view was amazing, the staff where excellent and the food tasted great! You only thing I can say is don’t go hungry! After leaving we had to stop and pickup something for dinner. The cost for 2 $140.00 with no drinks!.... that is crazy!
A comedy of errors for our night out at Canoe.
My wife and I, celebrating our anniversary, arrived at 5pm to an almost empty restaurant. We were seated at the table 31, closest to the hostess stand near the front door. We asked if we could be moved to a more pleasing area with a view, considering only 4 tables in the restaurant were occupied at the time, and the server politely declined our request. Note, majority of restaurant guests arrived after 5:45, leaving the other tables empty for almost an hour.
When we moved into the 3 course meal, my wife had the unfortunate incident of finding a hair in her Heirloom Carrot Potage. The server quickly replaced the soup and apologized. Soon after this issue, he delivered my delayed beverage (Estrella), although delivered the incorrect size and was required to replace. The main courses arrived (Beef Short Rib & Atlantic Halibut) and we recognized the short rib was missing the puffed wild rice. The server apologized again, and returned with a side dish of the puffed rice, which, on its own, was simply not appetizing.
During the dessert portion of the meal, an employee near the server stand to the side of table 31 accidentally dropped a large dish, sending shattered pieces of glass into the air, some landing on the two tables in front of us. Given the errors leading up to this point, my wife did not feel comfortable finishing her dessert (in the event some glass made the way to our table and into her dish).
To end the night, our server apologized for the ongoing errors throughout the night and comped one of our meals, and handed us the bill. Unfortunately, again, there was an error - he had mistakenly added a glass of wine to the bill, which was never ordered. We needed to flag him down, alert him of the error, and asked for an updated bill.
While I have been to Canoe in the past, this evening was riddled with issues and the overall experience regrettable and very disappointing
