Canoe Restaurant and Bar
Dinner: Monday - Friday: 5:00pm - 10:30pm
The food was very good and the view is spectacular. The service was excellent...., until it was time for our entry; it was ver late in coming. It must have been a half-hour. Then the entry was cold. Apparently it had been sitting somewhere in the kitchen for a long time. When we complained, the waiter picked the entry up immediately and brought us new entries promptly. They were gracious and apologetic about it.
The other disappointment was the decor. For such a spectacular setting, the decor is old and mundane. Canoe needs a major internal facelift.
Outstanding views and service. I probably was expecting more from the food for the price you pay. Well presented, great taste but not outstanding. My wife got duck which was really good but my lobster was not the greatest. The cheesecake for desert bellow average, but the chicolate cake exceptional. Good for special ocasions.
Great photo, and wonderful night out!
Fabulous view, great food and a friendly waiter with a touch of fun made it a very nice birthday celebration for us.
From the excellent welcome and equally excellent service throughout our dinner to the succulent dishes and great wine, no wonder Canoe remains consistently one of the best rates restaurants in Toronto.
Such a nice experience, we went for my husband's birthday, food was superb and same to service. they went above and beyond to accommodate a new chocolate desert that fitted our dietary restriction for my husband's birthday "which is not even in the menu" as I requested a chocolate cake during my online booking which wasn't up to our restriction...would definitely come again!
Incredible, yet again!
Fantastic evening. Great staff, exceptional food, wonderful view. I would recommend to anyone. This is a great restaurant.
I used to host business lunches there so i brought my husband there for our anniversary. We were not offered bread? After lunch..our waiter served the table nxt to us but never ask if we want to see the desert menu or coffee. After 15 minutes i flagged another waiter. All in all a letdown
The food was very salty. Average taste. The view was great, and service was awesome. Recommend the teasing menu. It was a good environment to have a big and long dinner. I loved the desserts!
It is definitely a pretty good restaurant. All meals were terrific, environment pleasant, etc.
Overall it was a very good night, except for the waiter. He was kind, but when we were paying the bill, my friend made a mistake and clearly he got upset because she didn’t pay the amount he expected of tips. He didn’t think that could be a mistake made by someone who has been in Canada for only 4 days. Anyway, we tried to give him more $100 tips, but he just disappeared (we asked someone to call him, we waited maybe 15 minutes and nothing, so we left).
My friend she doesn’t speak English and while she was trying to pay the bill, she had a problem with the password and had to try maybe three times. Clearly, everyone at he table could notice, the waiter was unhappy, making some annoyed and bored faces. We will see if we should try the restaurant back.
Excellent food, great service and a wonderful. Never disappoints.
I hadn't been to Canoe in about a decade. I had a perception that it was getting old and tired, and was mainly for tourists. I was really blown away by my experience. I brought guests from out of the country and took a chance that we would provide a high-end "Canadian" experience. First, I booked via OpenTable and asked for a great table. I had low expectations as I am not a regular. We were given a great table, right in the corner, with amazing views. All the tables have a lovely view, but this was one exceptional. I was impressed they actually listened to and accommodated my request. Now, to the service. It was world class. Professional, prompt, continuous (but not too much), knowledgeable. It was some of the best service I've had in years. Clearly this restaurant is still being managed extremely well. Now to the food. I won't bore you with what we all ate, but again, it was spectacular. It exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and presentation. The entire table agreed. It isn't good value, per se, but it was worthy of the prices. The Sommelier was excellent and recommended Canadian wines (which I requested given our foreign guests) most of which were outstanding. The Blue Mountain BC Pinot Noir is particularly worthy of mention. The bottom line is that this is still a thriving restaurant (it was full, 830 pm on Monday night) with incredibly great food and service, and if you have the same perception as me, that it was old and passe, well, we are both wrong. It is still a special place.
Canoe was a great experience! Not only was the service great, but the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend Canoe restaurant to all friends and family.
My friend and I went to Canoe this past Monday evening to have a meal from a restaurant we always talked about (we absolutely love trying different restaurants, bars, cafes and bakeries anywhere we can go!) so we were particular excited about it. The hype was absolutely worth it. We each decided to go for the tasting menu (which was made pescatarian for the two of us due to dietary restrictions, which was awesome!) and split a bottle of wine. Everything was on point. From the flavors, the story and inspiration behind each dish, the ingredients, the sunset and view of Toronto in the background, for all of the awesome staff helping out (shoutout to Steven, our server. He was fantastic!). Would definitely recommend this spot for a special occasion or a true culinary experience! It is quite pricey, but it was worth the wait and the money!
Great service from Alex, good quality good, good value compared to other high end restaurants, great view
Canoe was one of the most outstanding meals I’ve had in my life. The ambiance matched the food perfectly and the entire menu was outstanding.
Amazing Expo 67 menu and excellent wines suggestions
We were running late yet, Canoe accommodated us and still treated us as a valued guest. This made our dining experience less stressful not to mention, the food and overall service, which was excellent. Thank you.
Tourists will love it and light up their Instagram and Twitter feeds. Travellers, not so much. The food was excellent. It's a shame that the restaurant is not at street level with a more intimate atmosphere, attentive and professional wait staff, and priced 30% lower. With those changes we would eagerly return. As currently realized, it is a one-time tourist attraction with food that is atypical for such venues...actually excellent and artfully plated. So, if you must, put on your favorite shorts, T-shirt, and sandals, sate your curiosity, satisfy our palate and give your credit card a workout. Otherwise, Toronto has more than a dozen restaurants at street level that are of at least equivalent cuisine quality, and, arguably, with more kinetic and engaging interiors and views.
I had a wonderful dining experience tonight and enjoyed the Taste Expo 67 tasting menu. Beautiful courses & each had a history behind it. Thank you to all the staff for your kindness and appreciation for detail!!
The menu offerings looked unique and interesting. We had the mushroom soup, beef tongue poutine, the rabbit saddle, and all were prepared and presented well and with professionalism. Overall, the meal was good but not thrilling.
My reservation request was for a special evening with a table with a good view. My table review, 1 out of 10.
Atmosphere was fantastic. We had a window table and the view was excellent! Servers were top notch - friendly and knowledgeable. We had the tasting menu with wine for $400 for the 2 of us. We both agreed it was good, not great. Wonderful food presentation, especially the smoked trout which is smoking under glass when served.
I visited Canoe with my family on the last night of a three week trip around Ontario and Quebec. We all had an amazing meal and great experience. I would highly recommend Canoe and can't wait to visit again when I'm next in Toronto.
Note, my Mum's a chef and said it was one of the best meals she's ever had out!
Would Canoe consider to introduce Keto dessert? Thanks.
It has a perfect Toronto view! love the testing menu! the portion of the testing menu was pretty generous for a adult.
The ambiance and view was super. The food was delicious but the wait for it was a bit long. Our server was gracious enough to provide me a complimentary appetizer while l waited for my meal. Nice touch.
Glorious place. Great service, wonderful delicious food and views that were breathtaking.
Great view and great ambiance. Always a good venue for cocktails and friends, the waiter was on his game and made the meal most enjoyable.
Simply not worth the money nor time. I will not recommend this to any of my friends.
Fantastic Meal. Fantastic Service. Both match the incredible views.
An experience the family and I will never forget!
Silvio was fantastic and was very prompt with service. Personable and made my date feel very well cared for! Food of course was delicious and full of flavour.
For our anniversary we had dinner at Canoe. The tasting menu was a bit odd so we selected a la carte, which was excellent. Prime Rib for husband, haddock for me. Food was perfect as was service and atmosphere. Quite casual and relaxed considering it is a top notch restaurant. Added bonus was the spectacular view from the 54th floor of the TD Centre.
Awesome service, food, environment, and view
Excellent service and great view also the food are fanatic! Definitely come back again next time for lunch.
After ALL these years, Canoe never disappoints. Wonderful, interesting, Canadian themed food, perfectly prepared and perfectly served in a gorgeous setting.
Outstanding food and excellent service! Accommodated all of my requests and truly made my birthday a memorable one.
Excellent service and view as usual
