You can't find more truly authentic Italian cuisine anywhere in Sonoma County. A taste of Tuscany in Forestville.
Thoughtful simple dishes with delicious and fresh ingredients. The back patio ambience is delightful. Staff friendly and non-intrusive. Fair pricing. Highly recommend.
Fantastic rustic Italian flavors! Highly commend.
Food quality was good but missing something. Everything needed a bit of salt. Server was nice but slow. Long gaps without checking in. I understand being busy and short handed but at least make eye contact. Good spot but expected more.
Amazing backyard for outdoor dining. The best Italian food in Sonoma County. This is a must try for any Foodies...
I was pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of each dish. And for an Italian restaurant, I appreciated that the dishes was not overwhelmed with garlic. I’ll be back and I’ll recommend it.
The menu is very innovative, using fresh ingredients in a very Italian style. This is a very casual, quiet setting with above average Italian menu items.
Fabulous meal! Every dish delicious! We had a wonderful dining experience. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😋
Lovely atmosphere- sat outside/ very warm summer night- my dinner (pasta) was excellent!
The outdoor space is beautiful and piece full. The food was great but not quite worth the price. However, I would visit again as we overall enjoy the visit at Canneti Roadhouse.
Excellent creative food in a charming outdoor setting. Terrific pastas!
Delicious, locally-sourced, authentically-inspired Tuscan food. We sat in the beautiful garden on a summer evening and enjoyed a relaxing dinner. The servers were friendly and attentive. The pasta is homemade and perfectly al dente. This is not your traditional Italian American menu but don’t let that stop you. This chef is not afraid to express his creativity. (And yes some of the dishes can be salty but oh so good.) Try the Tuna of the Chianti, pasta trio, and tiramisu like you’ve never had it before but you will want more.
Lovely place. We had dinner in the garden. The food was wonderful and the service excellent. Not stuffy, but a high quality place. We’ll return for sure.
Ambiance and service is impeccable, but the pasta was far too salty and did not live up to the rest of the experience.
Delicious homemade pasta & interesting, flavorful & fresh ingredients made dining here memorable while on vacation. We’d definitely return!
Fabulous food, friendly knowledgeable staff, nice outside atmosphere.
I went with my family and I and it was a very relaxed ambiance. Customer service was beyond excellent. Food quality was moderate. We ordered a few dishes and half of them were not as tasty as the Mac n Cheese Truffle and New York Steak. Everyone has different taste buds so that’s understandable. Our server was super nice and accommodating. I would recommend to a friend for a date night!
Everything was absolutely delicious! The garden patio is divine.
We enjoyed a delicious meal on the beautiful patio. We will be back soon!
Excellent food and menu! The chef is creative, thoughtful and delivers dishes that are flavorful with the perfect portion size and presentation. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the following: The server seemed indifferent and not personable, she very rarely stopped by to check on us. The part that really made a negative impact was that: she brought 2 of the 3 dishes to us (there were 3 of us), and then continued to serve up 2 other tables with their food. When their dishes were fully served up to the other tables, water poured for them, some 5-10 minutes later, they then brought the 3rd and final dish for our friend who had been waiting. I can understand sometimes the order of dishes prepared may not have been perfectly timed, but such a long delay, without even stopping by the table to say "your dish will be up in 5 minutes", or better still, bring our friend his dish first, before serving up the other 2 tables, made this otherwise perfect meal, a less than perfect one.
Canneti Roadhouse Italiana is a little restaurant that could. Unfortunately, on my recent visit, the restaurant just couldn’t. Like most great Italian recipes, the ingredients were few, but unlike great Italian cooking, the ingredients, which should shine, were unripe (in the case of the tomatoes), flavorless (the mozzarella) and the flavors either muted, or so overwhelmed (like by the rosemary in the beef ragù and their signature roasted pork and bean dish) and salty, that the few ingredients just did not work together. Of the homemade pastas, the squid ink fettuccine was delicately flavored but overwhelmed by the salty brininess of the seafood reduction. The rigatoni was absolutely perfect, but again the flavor of rosemary so assertive that the other sauce flavors were lost. The corkscrew pasta had a nice handmade feel, but the dough was so overworked that the pasta was chewy and unpleasant. The cooking was a slap in the face to my Nonna. We had a green salad with dried mango and I honestly can’t remember what else was in it, because there was completely no flavor. Why dried mango? It was cut up into such tiny bits that I could not even taste it. And there was supposed to have been some kind of cheese in it, maybe Gorgonzola?. Even the vinaigrette didn’t register. How is that even possible?
The brussels sprouts were raw.
The focaccia, however, was brilliant, one of the few instances where the excess salt (on the crust) actually worked, the bread so buttery and warm. I could’ve eaten that all night, and actually kind of wish that that was all that I ordered.
So Canneti, keep your recipes, which are all really good, but don’t overwork your pastas, take it easy on the salt, let all the flavors work together, use only ripe tomatoes, and when you list the ingredients in a dish, like the salad, make sure that you put in enough of those ingredients so that they’re actually legible. Beneath all that salt, rosemary, and unpleasant textures, you’ve got some nice dishes.
The food and service was amazing! Our server was so attentive to make sure that we had everything we need. The food was great and the wine was so good… we love coming here…
We enjoyed our double Birthday celebration! The food was delicious!! I loved my ravioli, the cannoli was amazing!! Grazie! Xavier was an amazing & eloquent server, the way he explained things was amazing!! Bravo to him
Lovely outdoor restaurant. Fantastic ambiance. Great service, friendly and professional wait staff. Food was delicious. Dog friendly. Will absolutely return next time I’m in the area!
$28 for a 4 inch by 4 inch piece of swordfish with no sides seems excessive, especially given the 10% BOH etc
We were excited to try this place. We left disappointed. Service was very slow and although our wait person was pleasant he was not very knowledgeable about the menu or the wine list. Prices were inflated. My husband received his main course without the side while I received my side without the main course. Both other dishes arrived a good 10 minutes later. He had steak which was ok, very chewy and not what we expected for $28. I had halibut which was extremely dry and overcooked, barely edible. He ordered sweet potato fries which were probably the best part of the meal. I had the brussles sprouts which were pretty good. Our meal with tip came to $110 (one glass of wine and one beer) and were were there for nearly two hours. We won't be back.
Our dining experience was very enjoyable from the delightful patio to the excellent food and wine.
The beans and pork shoulder are amaaaazing. How to get rosemary to perfume a dish and not knock you over is truly an art. Sadly the rest of the dishes were just ok. The polenta fries were a complete yes!! I’ve returned a few times now and want to try the pizza to give it a last chance. The service is always really kind but confused - too much attention and then too little. We were never sure of who our server was, we had 3 going at one point. Seems like they might have issues with communication? Pricey for the area but everything is getting to be pricey for the area😂 Oh inflation, pandemic recovery- I get it. Chef is clearly very talented.
such a special little place in Forestville! we were delighted with the food, our server Jeannie, the ambiance was simple and romantic, very much the feeling of a small restaurant you'd find in Italy or Greece. highly recommend! I had salmon and my husband the steak! enjoy.
Much of the entrees were overly salted diminishing the taste and experience
Really enjoyed the cray fish croquette! Too bad they only come with 3 pieces.
We had to wait even though we had a reservation. We were told that Open Table had overbooked the restaurant. The staff was attentive as we waited.
Great food & service!
One of the best salads I have ever had...also the fish is prepared so perfectly, just like in the best restaurants in Italy. Probably the most under the radar restaurant in Sonoma County. We had an outstanding dinner at Canneti Roadhouse and will go back very soon
Pasta Tuscan sauce extremely salty
Great food and service!!
Canneti Roadhouse is in a great location and has lovely outdoor seating. The servers are helpful, courteous and prompt. We loved the rustic roasted potatoes and our salads. My husband had the salmon and felt it was very good. My daughter and I had the lamb sausage with pasta. It was a good amount but the sauce was too dense. I saved most of it for the next day and actually added broth to it. My son had the fettucine alfredo but was unimpressed by it. We enjoyed our meal but I'm not sure this would be our first choice for great Italian food in Sonoma County.
Amazing food, as always. Great service! Highly recommend to experience Canneti.
Charming little eatery. A nice place to eat good food and unwind.
