Canneti Roadhouse Italiana
Canneti prides itself on using the freshest local ingredients available to create a unique blend of Tuscan and Californian cuisine.
Such great food and service. What a special place. We had a memorable evening.
My server served me food that I was allergic to even though I told her I could not eat any dairy. I told her twice! She did not describe any of the items on the antipasti plate I ordered nor caution me from any items. When I called her over to the table asking about what an item was (after I had eaten a bite) she told me the ravioli contained ricotta....and mumbled sorry... completely unacceptable. This place does not take food allergies seriously. You have been warned.
I am very disappointed for being charged an additional $7.00 ($3.50 per person) fee for booking this reservation using OpenTable. Is this now acceptable under your policies? I would have never found this place without OpenTable but I won’t be using your App in the future if you allow restaurants to charge additional fees.
The waitress was delightful, but the service from the kitchen was slow especially between the appetizer and main course.
The food itself was delicious with unique Italian dishes you won’t find at any other Italian restaurant and the Panna Cotta desert with farro at the bottom was incredible.
Dear guest Canneti Roadhouse usually does not charge any Opentable fee. However, you made a lunch reservation through Opentable for Sonoma Restaurant Week event. Opentable charges businesses with several fees. We kindly posted everywhere that Opentable lunch reservations would be charged a fee for this specific event. Price for the event lunch was 15 dollars and we are positive you understand Canneti could not pay 3.5 dollars in Opentable fees.
Our favorite restaurant and our favorite chef in Sonoma. We wish Francesco would come to Palo Alto.
A lovely birthday dinner -- Reminded us of a wonderful trattoria we ate at in Siena! Altogether a delightful experience!
Food was great and service followed suit. They were a bit hesitant about firing up the fireplace and we could a drift of cold air coming from somewhere. But in the end we had a great time and the food was really something. Don't skip the dessert ;)
You should definitely eat at Canneti if you haven't. I have had two of my favorite dishes of all time here, but I've also had dishes that I wouldn't want to eat again. So it's a little hit and miss but still worth it. Expensive wine list and expensive corkage. Three of us had dinner with 3 appetizers, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine for $200 not including tip. We go at least once a year and will return.
the food was truly amazing, every dish was beautifully prepared with delicate nuances and nicely presented. we loved it.
Best Italian in Sonoma county !! Francesco is awesome ! Try everything!
I had dined at Canetti's in 2016 shortly after it opened and loved my experience. This experience was the polar opposite. In 2016 the dishes were beautifully and simply presented. The flavors were subtle and tasteful.
This dining experience was the other side of the coin. The venue was fine, but the door near us had to be left open, or the aroma of fried food filled the air and was quite unpleasant. The night air made the room unpleasantly chilly, but that was better than the smell of the frier. I would have thought that they would have an adequate hood in the cooking area.
Our waitress was delightful. She tried to make us feel comfortable, but was unfortunately very inexperienced and not at all knowledgable regarding the menu. This suggests a problem, more with management and lack of proper training than with the staff, as she was delightful and tried to be as helpful as possible.
Our salad course was excellent, but it was downhill from there. The pasta with pesto was unnecessarily heavy. The pasta with mushroom meatballs was a disaster. The meatballs were deep-fried and burnt, appearing more like croquettes. There was no mushroom flavor at all. It tasted like fried, flavorless mush. The waitress returned to ask how we liked our meals. I told her that I couldn't eat mine, as I thought it was terrible. I hadn't eaten more than half a fried meatball. She asked, if I would like something in exchange, but returned to tell me the chef said that that would not be possible. That I would have to pay for the dish whether or not I liked it. He came to the table and was extremely rude. Telling me, in front of other diners, that the fault was mine, as I had asked for no additional salt and wanted the pancetta on the side. See photo. I was amazed. I had never been treated so rudely in a restaurant in my life. The server had to apologize to us for his inappropriate behavior.
In summary, I will not return. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I don't know what hap
Tremendous dinner. Francesco great !!
We spent a lovely afternoon on the Porch visiting with family. The food was excellent and the service was supurb. Highly recommend this wonderful and unique Forestville gem.
Fantastico! Simple, yet sophisticated, Tuscan cuisine. The Sunday brunch is the best kept secret in town.
Thank you Chef Francisco!
Francesco never disappoints. Connor was an excellent server.
We were able to make a reservation despite the restaurant being closed when we arrived.
LOVELY LITTLE SPOT! WE ENJOYED A QUIET LUNCH THERE LAST WEEKEND, AND INTEND TO GO AGAIN SOMETIME SOON.
Canneti Roadhouse was a wonderful find in the small town of Forestville. The pasta was delicious and was paired nicely with a great wine. Service was great and the outdoor, but covered, seating area was very comfortable. Thanks for a great night out!
Francesco and his staff make you feel at home. They serve up excellent food and it is always a pleasure to dine there.
AMAZING pesto pasta! The rest of the trio of pastas was not that great. Beautiful location.
Every was great however the service or the timing the food came out was super slow. Maybe it’s supposed to be like that given the culture just be ready.
A surprising menu for a little town like Forestville along with a great wine list. Food was a bit slow to be served but the staff kept us informed of progress.
On the night we visited, the menu was a bit limited and there was at least one substitution in the short list on entrees, but there were enough options that we weren't inconvenienced by the change. To start we ordered the house salumi and it was excellent. Then we followed up with the pasta trio...again excellent. Both the salmon and the petrale sole were perfectly prepared and delicious. The desserts were fabulous. I had the cannoli which was fabulous, we also had the lemon panacotta and the unique house tiramisu. Our waiter, Xavier was a delight and his friendly personality enhanced an already delicious evening. The patio seating was a perfect setting for a nice summer dinner.
Authentic cucina Toscano in Forestville: Pasta fatta in casa, salumi fatta in casa, etc. I lived in Italy for many years and my dining companion was visiting from Italy. On our first visit, we both ordered their porcetta and it was perfect. On our second visit we both ordered the Tuscan tasting menu-also perfect. The owner Francesco's offerings would be considered excellent in his native Tuscany. To find this in tiny Forestville is meraviglioso!
This is probably 3.5 stars, but I would definitely go back again. The food was solid, but they gave me the wrong side, which was quickly rectified.
A fabulous Sunday lunch, as always, in the outside garden -- we love Canneti!
We ate out in the back patio. This place was a great find on a previous trip to Sonoma, so we came back. Pastas are great and overall the food is authentic.
This was our second visit to Canetti's in the last 10 days.
Our experience the second time matched the 5 stars we gave on our first visit.
it was even better this time as the chef/owner came by and poured us some beautiful wine on the house and personally shared how he was preparing some of the dishes that we were expressing some interest in.
Canetti's is an easy 25 minute ride from Healdsburg and clearly worth the trip!
Fantastic food, amazing outdoor patio, a must do in the area!
Francesco is a wonderful chef and host. His food is authentic Tuscan country cuisine and he does almost all of his preparations and butchering in house. It’s a wonderful experience!
POOR quality in service and food. Our waiter was rude, didn’t introduce himself, and he felt rushed and agitated for a slow Sunday evening. He never brought us our bread we paid extra for, and instead of admitting to a human mistake he got fussy and sure of himself that we didn’t end up wanting it. His arrogance continued when I politely asked for my pasta to be warmed because it came out cold. It still came back to me cold. Shame on the Chef for telling me it should be served at room temperature, when it felt like it came straight from the refrigerator. My moms $45 New York Steak was cut in strips.. what!!? A proper steak should be served whole in the oz. it was presented as on the menu. I’ve been in the restaurant business for years and as a Chef myself, I would never allow a customer to be treated so poorly, or drop the ball on making proper adjustments to a dish not executed correctly.
The food was fabulous. Authentic Italian food and great Italian wine list.
The shaded outdoor back patio was delightful. The service from Chris was thoughtful and timely. Can’t say enough good things about this little restaurant in Forestville. We’re going back on Friday for lunch!
Extraordinary octopus and all other dishes we tried were wonderful hearty.
My truck was finally paid off so we were celebrating no more payments lol
We have dined at Canneti many times and were pleased to host friends visiting from out of state. Chef Francesco was personable and engaging as always and generously provided an after dinner treat. The food (two orders of strignoni with smoked habit and salmon; one order of pennette with cheese and pesto; one order of green spaghetti with shrimp meatballs) was delicious and, as always from the Chef, attractively presented and creative. In particular, the shrimp meatballs were spectacular. The meal was excellent, heartily enjoyed, and memorable for our guests, who left asking for a business card and continued to rave about the experience thereafter. Canneti has been since its opening and remains our "go to" dining destination even though it is a 30-40 minute drive distance from our home and there are many nearer, excellent restaurants in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Valley and Sonoma. Chef Torre has created a unique, authentic Tuscan-California gem in Forestville. That it is his labor of love is evident from the first foot inside the door. Canneti Road House is worthy of wide regard as a marvelously laid back, comfortable, superbly creative Wine Country and greater Bay Area dining destination.
On a weekend getaway for a friends wedding we planned dinner here. Started out extremely well. The atmosphere and greeting was great. The appetizer impressive. The pace of dishes comfortable. My husband and I ordered a pork and steak entree. The pork was over cooked for my husband. I ordered my steak medium rare. The waiter later confirmed he wrote the same. My steak had zero pink color of any kind! If one was chefs choice what was the other? The guest didn't get what was asked for. We then received nothing but a simple apology.. for the money I expect what I asked for.
Always Delicious!!! Canneti Roadhouse is a hidden treasure. The food never disappoints, always outstanding! We love eating in their relaxed outdoor area. Great wine list, over the top food, wonderful service! Thank You
Lovely evening on the back patio. The food was delicious. Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful on both the food and the wine advice. Will be sure to return.
Canneti takes their food very seriously. This is not your average or even above average Italian restaurant.. This place is a destination for foodies. Very funky casual, but fresh, delicious food with creative twists, and very friendly service.
The drive to Forestville is worth it if you plan to dine at Canneti Roadhouse Italiana. The place is cozy and quaint so it gets a little noisy. The food provides very interesting takes on some classic dishes by both ingredients and preparation. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the unique flavors. The service was exceptional.
Excellent quality, authentic Tuscan recipes. Quiet atmosphere (seated on outdoor patio) on a Saturday at lunchtime. Very good choice of Italian wines. Friendly waitstaff and chef / owner. A true gem in tiny Forestville. Convenient location to tastings at Copain and Lynmar. If only we lived closer!
