About Cannery Restaurant
Capture a magical moment of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s past as you dine in one of its most historic buildings. The four-diamond Cannery Restaurant of today is reminiscent of its former life as a canning factory in the 1800s, where Niagara peaches and tomatoes were canned until 1957. Its agricultural past has been lovingly retained in its décor of rough hewn wooden beams, rich red brick walls and a hearth at the heart of the restaurant. Chef Mark Longster continues to serve up the best of the region in his menus which feature the freshest local produce and fine wines. Charming and casual Cannery Restaurant is the place to find all your favorites, from succulent steaks to catch of the day to a fabulous Sunday brunch. Chef Longster's food is prepared and presented perfectly, for your ultimate dining experience.

Cannery Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful in every way ! Delightful from the moment we entered
Loved the menu as something for everyone
Attentive but not stuffy service
Very romantic setting with rustic decor and candle & fireplace
Loved the PEI mussels and entree of seafood pasta so well prepared and my husband loved the prime rib
Hope to return
The only thing I could suggest is maybe more seasonal drinks and soft music
Only downfall is the elevator is located right by the romantic spot in the restaurant which makes for distraction from your evening
And what happened to the little pallet cleansers that used to be served before the entrees
Those were always amazing
The Cannery is a must for us when visiting the Niagara area. We have never been disappointed in the quality of food or quality of service . Our recent visit was yet another testament to the consistency of food & service this restaurant delivers.
#best Prime Rib
Thank you to the wonderful staff for helping to make our wedding anniversary celebration great! From the moment we walked in to when we had dessert the staff were terrific and the meal was delicious!!! Please keep up the great work. Looking forward to our next visit!
Fantastic experience! The 2 of us had a table in front of cozy fireplace on a cold winter night. Appetizer was fresh and tasty. Prime rib was perfect. The only recomendation I have is baked potato and Yorkshire pudding was a little on the dry side. Waitress was amazing. Great service!
We dined at the Cannery on January 15, 2018 and we highly recommend it. The service was top-notch and the food was absolutely delectable. My husband enjoyed a wonderful NY strip steak that was so tender it just melted in your mouth. I wanted the Seafood Linguine but cannot eat wheat so the chef made me Seafood Risotto instead. I was very impressed with the degree the chef/server went out of their way to ensure that we were happy. The desserts were to die for!
This is a restaurant that is special enough to celebrate an event, or just perfect for a romantic evening.
Our party of six enjoyed a great New Year’s Eve dinner and party afterwards. The food was delicious and the pacing was perfect. Our server Sarah was excellent and we felt very well taken care of by her and other staff. The decor was festive and the party favours were fun.
I would happily recommend the Cannery.
We were there for New Year's Eve and enjoyed the set menu tremendously although, I might have said the desserts (apart from the deconstructed cherry cheesecake, the other desserts were a little lacking. Our server was tremendous and helped to make it a memorable evening!
In the heart of Niagara-On-The-Lake, one of our favorite places on earth, is a first class steak house inside the Pillar and Post lodge, one of the Vintage Hotels in this region. The food was as good as any steak house I have visited, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was wonderful. It was a very cold December night, but the roaring fire and warm service took the chill out of the air and made a memorable dining experience for my wife and I.
My wife had the surf and turf- a delicious lobster tail and beef terderloin. Even though she like the beef medium well, it was still very tender and the sweet wine sauce that accompained the beef was perfect. I had the prime rib - I rarely eat this dish because it is often served below expectations. Not here at the Cannery. It was fabulous. It was juicy and tender, served medium rare, and plentiful. It wasn’t ridiculously thick, but it was a generous serving none the less.
We enjoyed the restaurant immensely. A good steak house is expensive, and this one was no exception. But it was priced competitively with other similar restaurants, and the combination of food, service, and atmosphere justifies my high rating for value.
For the second year in a row we went to the Pillar & Post for our Christmas Eve dinner with friends. It's so beautifully decorated and the food is always fabulous. It was nice to have the choice of the regular or Christmas Day menu. A perfect spot for a special meal out.
