About Cannery Restaurant

Capture a magical moment of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s past as you dine in one of its most historic buildings. The four-diamond Cannery Restaurant of today is reminiscent of its former life as a canning factory in the 1800s, where Niagara peaches and tomatoes were canned until 1957. Its agricultural past has been lovingly retained in its décor of rough hewn wooden beams, rich red brick walls and a hearth at the heart of the restaurant. Chef Mark Longster continues to serve up the best of the region in his menus which feature the freshest local produce and fine wines. Charming and casual Cannery Restaurant is the place to find all your favorites, from succulent steaks to catch of the day to a fabulous Sunday brunch. Chef Longster's food is prepared and presented perfectly, for your ultimate dining experience.

Food was amazing! Would recommend this to any couple looking for a nice evening out. Great for special occasions and a very nice ambiance. Server was a little unorganized but the food made up for it!

This was a family birthday celebration and six of us there. Food was amazing - prime rib was best ever according to 3 of our party members. Good selection of desserts and wines too. Our server was 'ok'.....not that pleasant or overly helpful, but that didn't take away from our amazing evening.

The dinner service couldn't have gone better. This was a special dinner as I had just proposed and thankfully she said Yes!
They greeted us with champagne to celebrate and then proceeded to make sure our dinner was everything we wanted it to be. The food was amazing. Definitely pricey but they backed it up with the service and delicious food.
Will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Family enjoyed an outing at St. Catherine's outlet mall during the day and we concluded with a nice dinner at The Cannery. The dinner was delicious with their feature dishes. I.e. prime rib roast beef dinner and surf and turf dinner also. Great way to end the day and evening.

Had a very mixed experience at the Cannery. Two of us ordered the signature prime rib and the others in our party got the bacon-wrapped tenderloin. The facility was hosting a large wedding reception that appeared to be overwhelming the service staff and kitchen. Our server disappeared for long periods of time. We ended-up with a tag team approached to the evening with a variety of folks helping us through the meal. Accordingly, refills & service were slow and details slipped into the cracks. The folks who ordered the tenderloin raved about it. Those of us with prime rib were incredibly disappointed. Our plates sat under the heat lamp for a bit of time drying out the meat and rendering the au jus a useless smear on the plate. With a background in food service, we get it...they were slammed. Wasn't worth the fuss to send our plates back - just a disappointing first experience. The facility is beautiful though hard to find for those of us who aren't locals! Appreciated the ease of reserving a table via OpenTable! Overall, an expensive evening that was just ok.

This was the first time we had tried the Fabulicious menu here, the prime rib was excellent, a very generous serving. Yorkshire pudding was cold but waitress brought us warm ones. A good dining experience at a fair price.

We went to this restaurant for Fabulicious. It was great!! There was no compromise on quality or quantity, unlike other restaurants with the Vintage Hotel chain. Food was over the top on quality and taste. The service was very efficient and friendly. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. We are going back again before Christmas to enjoy the ambiance of Christmas. Thank you to the staff at the Cannery for making our first experience at your restaurant wonderful!

Was very disappointed in the food. The service was exceptional. The food was not worth the price we paid. There were 4 of us for dinner and we all felt the same. Dinner was sub par. Very unfortunate as we all looked forward to having a great dinner. 1 dinner was the salmon the other 3 were prime rib.

Edges of wine glasses are dirty. Servers didnt change them until we requested. We have sat and waited 45 minutes for server to come get our orders, no waters no drinks. We ordered the soup of the day which was said to be creamy potato chowder, but in the end we turn out to get chicken noodle soup. The server didn't come tell us the soup ran out or if we want the new soup, she just brought us the new soup and tell us the chowder ran out then left. So we had to go with the soup that we didn't want. During the whole meal, no one came add water nor asked how's the food how's everything. And again we waited for a long time to get our bill. My friend ordered a glass of 5 oz wine but the server put a whole bottle of wine on her bill. The food is terrible, the service is terrible. Would never come back again for sure.

Another perfect Fabulcious 2017 roast beef dinner at the Cannery. Very professional, well trained staff and chefs! If you haven't tried a Fabulcious meal, they are available for a limited time during November, and I believe March as well. And the meal price is even lower than normal.
Great soup and great dessert too.
Looking forward to our next visit.

We had reservations quite early in the evening (5pm) but they didn't seem to be ready for anyone. We waited (along with three other couples) for about 15 minutes while staff moved about the dining room setting up tables - no hostess to seat us. The other staff saw us, but no one did anything. Did not feel very welcoming. The cuisine is old-school - no molecular gastronomy here! But, it was correctly cooked and plated. Had the prime rib and the serving was generous - couldn't finish it! The food was quite good, and our server was pleasant and professional - the only negative was being made to wait so long at the beginning.

Quaint and cozy atmosphere. We were seated next to the fire. The food was excellent. Great for seafood and maybe the best prime rib I have ever had. We drove from the US to eat here and it was well worth the trip. Anthony was a fantastic server and all of his recommendations were right on point.

The service was wonderful, welcoming but not intrusive. My husband's meal was incredible, and my dessert and appetizers were amazing. The amuse bouche was delicious, and I would have loved a whole appetizer of the same thing. The restaurant should add a better fish option and some vegetarian options.

We had dinner before and it was good, but this B Day lunch failed. The Open Table let us reserve, but it was closed for a special party. We were sent to the pub seating. We had battered chicken which had too much dough and grease with little flavour + too many fries soaked with thousand island dressing. I hope it was just a poor choice on our part, but I think they should delete this tasteless, unhealthy, item from the menu. I would still go back and give them another try, based on my 1st meal there.

Although the food good there was nothing amazing about it. We’ve eaten at many up scale restaurants and we have had more interesting fare for less money. Server kept forgetting drinks, bread, took forever to bring our check. Not a good experience especially for the cost.

Really pretty place and our dinners were exquisite. We ate every morsel. Salmon cooked to perfection, the prime rib had a really nice glaze on it. Everything was fabulous. Its not cheap but well worth the price for a special occasion.

We loved the food and the service, as well as the room (beautiful tall ceilings, rustic wooden decor, tables were nicely set apart and quite private).
What we didn't love was that there was a wedding reception taking place upstairs, and the constant bass drum vibrating and banging above us was incredibly distracting, disappointing, and completely took away from what would have been the perfect evening.
Our server was gracious and apologetic about the noise, but it was obviously beyond his control.
This was our first weekend away from our young children in 6 years, and after spending hours reading reviews and menus to choose our Saturday dinner venue, this meal was intended to be the highlight (and biggest splurge) of our trip.
When we go back to Notl, we will skip The Cannery next time, unless we are absolutely assured there isn't an event taking place in the space directly above.

The food was wonderful in a town known for cuisine. The salad was delicious with cherries, toasted pumpkin seeds, and goat cheese tossed in an apricot vinaigrette. The more traditional filet did not disappoint - was cooked to perfection. We had several special requests for our food preparation that were graciously accommodated. The ambiance was charming - a mixture of rustic and elegance which adds to the total experience for a special dinner. A wedding party was in the house that evening and the music thumping in the background could have been distracting for diners looking for a quiet intimate dinner. We chose to view it as a fun and memorable evening for everyone.
